  1. Marvelous, another happy motorist.......
  2. Can we try to stay on topic please, I don't see how many of the replys are going to help the original poster. If he wanted to know what everyone paid for their cars then I am sure the OP would have asked that.
  3. I would try silicone spray first too. You Can buy it from Halfords and other car shops.
  4. The OP has a 2 litre petrol engine, I doubt very much that the aircon is using about 25% of the engine's power output. To be honest I hardly notice much Increase in fuel consumption in the summer. Perhaps because the heating is not using as much diesel.
  5. Not me! I am always patient and easy going on learners even if they are doing a 20 Point turn on an Industrial Estate!
  6. It certainly sounds like the rings have gone, but a compression test would tell for sure. Your Mondeo engine won't fit either, the Galaxy has a VW engine in it. It is however a fairly common engine.
  7. Not on an industrial estate I wasn't. I learned in Bournemouth, 3 half days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and test Thursday morning. I was 17 years, 6 days old when I passed my test....
  8. Great, so take them to the place where all the 40 tonne trucks congregate......
  9. I heard mine when it stopped working too........
  10. Just out of interest, WTF do driving instructors take their students to the local industrial estate to practice? Is it because they like to get in the way of everyone who is there to work?
  11. Congratulations! What was your free disc?
  12. You will struggle to get a decent MK2 TDi, you should be looking for a late MK1 with average milage.
  13. What engine variant? Gearbox etc. Please give more information, we really can't help if you don't help us.

  15. Aye, but I was referring to the OP who has discounted the MAF as it made no difference when unplugged! I unplugged my MAF (everything was working fine, it was just to see the difference) and I only went a couple of hundred yards before I plugged it back in, it was awful!
  16. My center vent temperature was only 7 degrees so I popped in another can of gas, one with system cleaner, seal conditioner, leak sealer and oil in as well as 8oz of gas. The result was a center vent temperature of 3.4 degrees with an outside temperature of 24 degrees in the shade. Now that's a result..... Here is the chart, 'A' is center vent temperature after running the engine at 1500RPM with the aircon at fully cold for 10 mins. 'B' is the outside shade temperature. The clear area in the curves is where the vent temperature should be.
  17. If you disconect the MAF and it makes no difference then the MAF is not working properly.
  18. Sorry, did someone say something?
  19. If you put your location in your personal information then perhaps someone with VAG-COM can help for the price of a beer or two. But we can't offer help if we don't know where you are.
  20. Yep, seems a plan to me. And one less lock for potential theives to attack.... Why not get a spare rear passenger side handle from a brakers and fit that too?
  21. Do you want the Ford part number, the VAG part number or the GSF Part number? Do you want with or without the tensioner roller? The VAG kit number (belt & roller) is B 028 198 119 E The VAG belt number is B 028 109 119 AA
  22. It sounds like a dodgy connection to me too. Start at the sensor and work back....
  23. Cool, next time your behind me in a queue I will back into you! Seriously though, my sister was held only 25% to blame when she ran into the back of someone who stopped at a green light. Your not automatically to blame.
  24. Almost certainly a lost transponder chip from the key. Go to where your daughter pulled it apart and look for a little black rectangular chip. And again, my advice to EVERYONE is superglue the chip into the key!
