  1. I concur, it is dash out and a new unit if the old one has failed.
  2. You turn the key one way, pull the bonnet up and then turn the key the other way. Have you tried this or did you turn it the same way twice?
  3. Once there has been no new activity on this thread for a week then unless anyone has a good reason why it should stay pinned I will unpin it. PM objections to me, please don't post here.
  4. In non-galaxy applications I have found them to be acceptably stiffer.
  5. I think the temptation for moderators to pin things must be resisted. It usually ends up with about a dozen pinned topics if you don't. Personally I think three or four pinned topics should be about the maximum on each area. As you have noticed this means that you normally end up with a few good reference threads pinned and that is it.
  6. Only they will tell you can't work on it and to take it to Ford. VW are the same.
  7. Funny, my anti-virus found nothing. Are you sure you did not get a redirect through some adware or something?
  8. Monroe Gasmatics are good. Available everywhere.
  9. It is the massive smilies to blame. Try using "Fast Reply" instead. I do as it ****** me off.....
  10. You would think that at 3p per diode the manufacturers would have solved this happening by now, it would cost about 6p a car.......
  11. Thing about the new "Galaxy" is that it is so far removed from the "old" Galaxy that the only thing they have in common is that they are 7 seaters. It is a real backward step putting it right into the Zafira arena. Comparable with the current Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan it is not.

  13. As far as I know the ECU is re-flashable with the right kit, so it is a re-map, not chipped. And for all your insurer knows you bought it like that and know nothing about it.... Allegedly! Just looked on their site and it is an add on box.
  14. I would be inclined to look at the air con compressor, if it is stiff or seized then your belt is going to get trashed pretty quick.
  15. Can you confirm the resistor required and I will get one and post it to you on Monday. Just 1 Ohm is not much at all? Are you sure it is not a 1K? If you remove the radio it will just be OC and should be fine though.
  16. It is actually it's own horn that is quieter than the road horn. Indeedee it is so quet that with double glazing you might not even hear it when it sounds. I have connected one up to a battery to test it and the tip was glowing red in about a second. In addition to that there is no connection to the ecu from the door pins. QED.
  17. If it's someones birthday then they are worth their own thread surely!
  18. Sorry my mistake, I thought the thread topic was "Happy Birthday, our esteemed founder." I never realised that included other people than Glen....
  19. Once again your all chit-chatting off topic in a technical thread....... Just as well this is not a serious board then!
  20. You could have (Should have?) started another thread.....
  21. Did you get this problem sorted? If so, what was the cause?
  22. It is clearly a sensor problem then. Bleeding the brakes won't help.
  23. The first thing to check is that the ABS ring has not come loose on the CV joint.
  24. If it is a cable or selector problem then it should be hard to get reverse even with the engine off.
  25. No, there is no risk of an overheat because you have bridged the coolant pipes, but what will happen is that if the oil cooler is borked then oil will piss out of the pipe connections that now have no water pipes on it. And thus you will be able to tell if that is where the oil is coming from! Don't worry about the oil getting too hot, the cooler is not really needed in the UK.
