  1. I have had a Galaxy for 4 years and have been a regular on that side of the forum for ages, but here I am entering the Mondeo owners section. I have just got a 2007 registered Mondeo Edge estate with good specification: Rain-sensing wipers, auto-lighting, park-assist rear parking sensors, a driver's seat with electric height adjustment, a leather steering wheel and CD audio system with MP3 connectivity. Exterior body kit (body colour door handles, lower bumper valances and new mesh radiator grille) Unique 16-inch five-spoke alloy-wheels "Quickclear" heated front windscreen Power-operated windows Front fog lights Auto dimming rear-view mirror Silver roof rails (estate models only) Intelligent Protection System (IPS) featuring driver's and front passenger's airbags, side and curtain airbags Electronic anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) All this and only 9000 miles for
  2. Of course the forum can have a discount, free postage on all items, no matter how many you order, so just select the collection option and we will post to your address free of charge ! Just quote GALAXY on your order in the 'comment' box. www.treatsbynature.co.uk You can pay with most credit and debit cards, just try some bath melts as a tester or something, they are great and proving a real favorite.
  3. I can't believe that people do so many miles in 2 years ! http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_...200740295918439
  4. I couldn't agree more, I have just had exactly the same scenario as you, overheating Galaxy, tried everything other than the head gasket to overcome it, and ended up trading it in. I sadly miss the Gal, and the new Renault, although very quick and nice to drive (Laguna 2.2DCI) is proving to be a bit of a dog. So far in 3 weeks ownership I have had the Turbo replaced and both drive shafts and an oil leak on the gearbox, all under warranty of course, but all the same it is not a reliable car, and I wish I hadn't traded the Galaxy in now, and just got it properly fixed once and for all. My wife has a Scenic and she loves it, and touch wood, there has been no issues with ownership of it (1.9DCI 04 plate). It also tows our caravan very well. The Laguna may have to be traded though, as it is giving me some jip even now after all the money spent on it by the garage these last few weeks. Good luck with the Renault Scenic, they are the best and only decent car Renault have ever manufactured. Still looking for a Galaxy - Once driven forever smitten !
  5. The stick on weights seem the best, least damaging and almost invisible from the outside, in the past the tyre fitter has stuck these quite close to the inner section of each wheel, and they have always been balanced when I've watched with the machine.
  6. Well, I noticed that this category had been set up for advertising our businesses, we have just set up a small company on the side, so here it is, check it out and try a few products out, they are gorgeous and luxurious ! ;) www.treatsbynature.co.uk
  7. The only problem with the diesels is they fetch about
  8. I want a Galaxy/Sharan etc, the Laguna has had a new turbo fitted but has now got oil pouring out of the gearbox ! Had it in to garage today and it needs a new drift shaft oil seal fitting, plus there is something knocking on the suspension, and I miss the Galaxy badly, so will be trading it in this week hopefully and going back to something like I had before.... I have also seen a panther black 2.3 petrol 2004 model Zetec Galaxy with 11k miles on it at local dealer, for
  9. I have found a VW Sharan at my local dealer, it is a fairly basic model, but I am thinking basic means less to go wrong, its a 2.0 petrol 2003 in dark blue, 30k miles, immaculate condition throughout, manual gear box with A/C, price:
  10. Welcome to the forum, jammed cup holder........... if only............if that was the only problem I'd had with mine I'd be a happy !
  11. Been looking around for myself one of these for the last few weeks, the price of that one for the condition, year and main dealer backup seems about average from what I've checked out recently. I am looking to buy one at my local Ford dealer, this is it, see if you think its ok too: Ford Galaxy ghia, 1.9 tdi 115 37k miles FSH Silver Excellent condition throughout
  12. Anyone seen any more bargains ? I'm about to go and maybe buy one from my Ford local dealer, as it seems reasonabily priced for a dealer, plus has a 3 year warranty with it included, that'll come in useful ! 1.9tdi 115 Ghia Galaxy 2003, same as I had before basically, its even the same coulour.
  13. Just had a reg transfer done on a cherished plate took just over 1 week before new documents sent. I stuck the new plates on anyway, but probably not recommended !
  14. I prefer the S-max by far, so I am saving up at the moment. The design of the new Gal is a bit quirky for my liking, but the new s-max seems to have it all without the van look.
  15. Thats sounds drastic, 50k and failed gearbox, unusual for the VW 6 speed box. I would have been tempted at that cost of fixing it, just to trade it in to an unsuspecting car supermarket, where they will slap a warranty on it and cover the repairs for the next buyer.
  16. We may well slag off the main dealers for being over priced, but in my experience the original manufacturers parts have been superior to those of an independant brand. I still wouldn't use a main dealer though !
  17. Good point, I'll put the kettle on !
  18. What about mortgage holders? Contrary to some comment, they have the least to worry about. If a mortgage lender goes bust, no one will come round trying to repossess borrowers' homes to get the money back. In reality all that would happen is that the administrator would send borrowers a letter, telling them to keep on paying their monthly repayments. In the meantime the mortgage, along with all the others, would, in all probability, be sold off to another mortgage company who borrowers would then pay for the remaining life of their loan. Alternatively another bank might buy up the insolvent bank - lock, stock and barrel. But people with applications for loans or mortgage applications in the pipeline might find they fell through. The mortgage business is, in normal times, both steady and profitable, and there would be no shortage of buyers for the Northern Rock's loan book.
  19. If it comes to the worst with Northern Rock, thay will call the administrators in and freeze their assets. Their assets being any savers money they have and also any property that Northern Rock own ( or more accurately hold the deeds for ). As your property is mortgaged with them, they could sell it to raise the cash ! :o Unlikely it would come to this though it is possible. Well fortunately, we started the process of moving our mortage to The Halifax last month, so we are safe at least from any future losses that NR might have.
  20. We have our mortgage with Northern Rock as well as a personal loan, I just wonder what will happen to existing borrowers, if anything, maybe they will try and increase their interest rate, but if we move mortgage company etc then I bet the other banks will follow, as Northern Rock has 1 in 5 mortages in the UK.
  21. Yes, the turbo they are fitting is brand new, however I will check that on collection. I understand the importance of an oil change for a new turbo especially, but surely they will have to drain the engine to change a turbo anyway won't they ? I might just pop into my local garage and have it done again anyway just in case.
  22. Yes, fingers crossed the Laguna will be up and running by mid week. Then I can make a decision as to whether or not to keep it. It is actually quite a nice car, 2.2Dci 150bhp tourer with colour sat nav and half leather with all the trimmings (top spec). Cost over 22k 3 years ago, at least I only did a part ex plus a few hundred for it. If I had paid out a fortune I would be spitting feathers ! The deal worked out better than any other local garage, plus the Laguna was bought at a web price, not the forecourt price (saving
  23. I've had the car for 3 weeks, 2 weeks in the garage ! No joy with trading standards other than they have to fix it within 14 days, I can legally reject the car, but only a brand new one, or I can reject a used car only after the repairs are done but only if they are not to satisfactory standards.
  24. Yep, I dare say you are all right, I know I made the mistake from buying from the countries worst garage. I intend to trade the Laguna in after I pick it up next week, and buy another Gal, oh well, at least they might end up having to pay out for repairs to the Galaxy at some stage, as that was the original reason for all this. Who knows when the Laguna has its new turbo fitted it might actually be a half decent car !
  25. Ok, I have had the decision from the garage now, they state that they are repairing the car and that under no circumstances will they accept a 'reject of vehicle', or accept it as a trade in. So I will just have to see how the repair goes, and all I can say is this: Never ever ever ever buy a car from CarCra#t, they are awful at customer service, they sell vehicles that are of very poor quality and they are a complete cowboy outfit. I checked out the internet and it appears that they are well known to Trading Standards and WatchDog alone have recieved over 1000 complaints in 6 months ! I may just buy back the Galaxy when they eventually get their act together and put it on the market. I have the new V5from DVLA still for it anyway.
