As mentioned above, I think I'll stick with main dealer until the warranty expires, although, any VAT registered garage will cover the manufacturers warranty. I have no confidence in any garage carrying out repairs or servicing on one of your biggest purchases properly, but whilst its still nearly new I think the Ford agents have the edge over the independents. I was quite surprised at the price being as low as it was....... ^_^

A forum like this can indeed put off a prospective buyer, however, you will find that with most cars they have their fare share of faults, I would suggest that you have a read through the most common problems, and make sure you are happy that your possible new motor doesn't yet have them, and get a good warranty, it will lead to many years of happy motoring, in what is by far the best people carrier out there.

A Couple Of Questions As Such..
jkspoff replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Most certainly if you have any issues with his driving, then this must be brought up with his/her supervisor, make a complaint at the help desk in person at your local police station, stating the facts you have, number plate and time it happened. All complaints made re police, have to be looked into, and believe me ! they are never welcomed by the officer. Some police driving standards are awful and certainly need improving, by means of further training and discipline etc. Don't leave it too long or it will be too late. -
Don't worry about it, this sort of thing happens all the time, but we just don't get to hear about it, the fact that this has been released to the press means its just the media scare mongering to sell papers and get viewers, I have kids and have absolutely no worries about this latest government cock up. A couple of things that are more likely to have happened are: The contents were in a document format that can only be read on a government piece of software, and the discs were actually only lost in their own 'internal' mail system. Its another case of don't believe what you read !

My friend who runs a taxi company in the algarve says that he has had 6 of his 9 new Galaxies recalled for numerous reasons, one being trim coming away from the A pillar, another is a software update to do with tick over or something and another is loose interior trim. None of these items have been a 'red' recall, just whilst they've been in for servicing. He has had only a few issues with the rest of the fleet, and they are in time, proving worthy taxis.

Worked ok on mine with parking sensors, as long as you get the twin electrics fitted out of the way, if you live in West Yorkshire or there abouts I can put you in touch with a really good home fitter.

Letter To Ford Uk Md - Read Before You Buy New Galaxy
jkspoff replied to hp4020's topic in MKIII Technical section
One way to get results is to 'repeat send' the original letter on a weekly basis until you receive a reply, I know of a case where the consumer sent the same letter for 26 weeks to several different recipients until he got a result, and it actually worked ! On each occasion it was signed for. Unfortunately just like any other 'newly designed' vehicles, they have post development issues for many months, the 'guinee pigs' are us, the unfortunate consumers. -
I find the Nationwide garages to be good, try ringing Craig at the Wakefield branch, their work is guaranteed and quite well priced: http://www.nationwideautocentres.co.uk/

Have you noticed an improvement with Redex in your tank, I am always a bit sceptical over fuel additives ? Do you think it would make much difference to a low mileage petrol engine ?

I had a Fiat Uno Turbo as a student, quick in a straight line, and 125mph top end, looking back at it, even if I was to step into a brand new one today, I would be very cautious as it had no safety features at all. A friend of mine had a Maestro Turbo which was even quicker, I believe it was about 6.3secs to 60 and 130mph top end, it left mine standing, stupidly quick and cost him more to insure 3rd party than it was worth, but was well worth it, as it was quicker than nearly everything else on the road at the time.

The British antiquated legal and governmental system has and is, leading to the demise of this country, which was once envied by the rest of the world, I quite often feel like I am wasting my time with this obsolete unfair legal system.
