  1. The good news - after engine/car vibration & loads of engine noise at idle and low revs. and alternator pulley clutch seized and belt tensioner wobbling about, it's all been fixed with a new dual mass flywheel, new alternator pulley and a ribbed belt. The bad news -

  7. Much is said about using the correct oil in the 115 hp PD diesel engine i.e. PD oil to VW spec 505.01 (hope I got that right) but what happens, what are the symptoms, of using "ordinary" 10W/40 or 15W/40 reasonable quality diesel oil for 2 - 3 years in the Gal.

  9. What are the symptoms of a "knackered" engine after using low spec non-PD oil? Does it vibrate? Sound lumpy at low revs? Shake the whole car?
  10. The drive shaft problem is likely. I was on the M23 doing about 70, restored the cruise control, bang, revs shot up into the red & no drive. Had to be towed and get a new left hand drive shaft! ED
