  1. 1 Are the two thermoststically controlled radiator fans coming on when the engine is hot? I had a 2.8V6 were they both failed. It was a tricky DIY to replace them. They must both run when the temp moves toward the red. 2. Keep the syetem topped up.
  2. Fuel filter can be done every 20 - 30, 000 miles; 2 yearly. Drain it yearly.
  3. Is it petrol? Then it HAS 4 spark plugs. Is it diesel? Then it doesn't have plugs, but has 4 glowplugs. Change the plugs if it has them, get a VAG-COM diagnostic check done, change the fuel filter and check the MAF [look around this site for info].
  4. It should be hand tight. No tools to tighten it and hence, loosen it. Try wearing rubber gloves = more grip.
  5. Changing the oil is easy! You can use a monkey wrench or mole wrench to open the drain nut. Use PTFE tape on the cleaned threads when you put it back in. Easy!
  6. ALSO Engine power - link 2
  7. This is often featured. The last thread was a couple of weeks ago.Eng power
  8. Try using a fine pin or a thin sewing needle to clean out the nozzle. The nozzles are indeed heated.
  9. Radio problem - the radio has a permanent supply as well as a key switched supply, to keep the memory, this may have failed, check the connections and fuses.
  10. You can get as good as new RDS 5000 EON radio/cassette or radio/CD on eBay. In black, silver or walnut effect for
  11. LINK this tells you how to reset the service indicator - easy!
  12. You can paint with Tippex the bit of the lens that raisies the light to light up the kerb side in the UK. It dazzles oncoming drivers in Europe. Usually its a few prisn shaped bits to the glass in the middle of the lens.
  13. I would call 4 adults and a dog - half load, therefore 38 psi and full load as 7 adults with some luggage - 45psi.
  14. Oil suitable for a Pump Deuse engine - PD to VW spec 505.01. Comma make a cheapish PD oil.
  15. Formula E is a 5W/30 oil for Ford petrol engine with hydraulic valve lifters [?]. It is not a PD oil needed for Sharan, Galaxy, Alhambra. etc. to VW spec 505.01.
  16. The relay cannot "provide too much power" to the screen heater. The voltage supplied is always 12 - 15 volts, the resistance of the screen elements will determine how much current and hence, power it draws. This has been posted before. Probably a poorer quality replacement screen than Ford use.
  17. A quick question. I think it's been covered before; should the aux heater on a 2002 Tdi come on below 10 deg C or 5 deg C? Secondly the Galaxy Owners Guide 07/2001 edition has 3 incorrect fuse ratings, the colour is correct = blue, but fuses 20, 59 and 60 are 15 Amp not 5.
  18. Hi dgarner Sorry, I was wrong. If you hold the oblong "reset" button in for 5 seconds it does what it says, it resets the displays to zero. If you just press it for one second the display toggles from 1 to 2 to 1 etc. 1 being the reading for the one journey / one day and 2 being the cumulative up to 99 hours 59 minutes or 9999 miles (I think).
  19. Yes. The aux heater fuse is fuse 12 in the main fusebox under the steering wheel. The aux fusebox is in the engine bay.
  20. It is your trip computer, but you have it set to "memory" or position 2. if you use the button on the end of the stalk, you will still get instanataneous MPG but you will get average MPG over the 19 hours and 35 minutes and click again and you get the average speed over the same period of time and click again and you get total miles travelled. It will go onto 99 hours and 59 minutes then reset to zero and start again OR I think it also goes up to 999 miles before resetting. If you press the oblong button UNDER the stalk for about 5 seconds, it will revert to one journey mode ie it gives you the instantaneous MPG, average MPG, average speed, hours travelled and distance travelled on that one journey or several journeys that one day. It resets if the car is not driven for 2 hours.
  21. someone selling 5 tyres
  22. Symptoms point to a discharged battery. Get it charged or use jump leads. Being Auto you can't jump start.
  23. A broken cable?
