Little Niggly Bits, Any Help?
mk2vr6 replied to sassygirl's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
2 and 4. are you sure its not a wiring fault? common thing for the wires to break going to the rear hatch and the doors due to all the flexing they do, hit the faq/search for further details as I cant be arsed to explain further  -
find you nearest WEITEC dealer and talk to them, avoid Fk especially their coil overs and if your going to do it? then do it properly and get the shocks replaced as well! although lowering to a certain level can cause problems :angry2: when your drive shafts run downhill from the hubs to the diffs  it can cause a lot of strain on the drive shafts and wear holes in your under tray! makes for easier oil changes though :D

FFS! ITS A GALAXY NOT A F'KIN LAND CRUISER OR A RANGE ROVER! A GALAXY! so why not lower it? are you saying that because it has 4wd you should only jack it up and take it off road? I'd put money on it that the furthest radio bordoms ever been off road in his 4x4 is Tescos carpark and the caravan park at brighton sea front on a bank holiday week end along with all the other sad t##ts in plastic sheds so what your saying is that the other members on here including me who have lowered their galaxys only have the right to do this because ours are/were fwd models? shit I better go outside and remove the uprated anti roll bar on the JEEP as according to you only 2wd vehicles should go round corners at speed! be back later to read your poor excuse of a reply :angry2: I need to go trawl my 4x4 sites to look for a lift kit? anybody have any thoughts on how high I should go? I want to run 34's so I figure I'll need at least a 2 or 3'' body lift as well as the long arm kit!

yea! thats it the whooshy thing that lives under the car....give that man a prize!

No manual as such for the VR6 how ever you can get a Peter Russek manual for the Sharan off ebay or amazon that covers the VR6 or just get the mk3 Golf VR6 version that cover the engine and a copy of the TIS off ebay for everything else

mmm difficult! the car has to be cold and the noise stops after a certain temperature is reached and it wont make the noise till the next day when the engines cold again? mmmm, thats a really difficult one! 11 views and one stupid reply :( maybe it could be the .... no lost it ....... the er ... the, you know the thing that makes a whining noise and only works when the engines cold? ....... nope lost it, sorry maybe one of the clever TDI owners can help you? as all TDI'S have one of these whining things, no! not the driver rattling on about his mpg :D

Have you had a bad experience with Mr Clutch, the quote they gave seems very cheap.. well not cheap but cheaper than most other garages. yes I found that they fitted recon parts while they charged for new! the parts were under size and the clutch slipped worse than before they replaced it! an independant engineer found that they had skimmed the clutch plate and fly wheel, hence the reason for the slipping after they fitted 'new parts'! the pressure plate and the friction plate they fitted were from two seperate manufacturers tradeing standards took up the case and the local branch was shut down not long after they were found guilty and heavily fined I was refunded and all my bills payed inc the replacement of the clutch by a VW main dealer :D
-
be careful and check with them that its a new clutch kit they are fitting and not a recon! and read the small print before you say yes to the robbing bastards sorry mr clutch check what the warrenty is on their parts and workmanship?

Think I Was Just Caught Speeding.....
mk2vr6 replied to jkspoff's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
was he sitting down at the time? 10% + 1 is the norm, you really think that they will let you get away with nearly 50 in 40 zone! the con is that they offer you the drivers awareness course at 33/34mph and no points as they know you wont argue the case, risk the points and a heftier fine! most people just pay the course fee/fine and take the no points option -

so what your saying then is that its ok for you to break the law as your special? oh! and he doesnt need to know your average speed, just the speed you were doing when he pulled the trigger  -

Galaxy Tdi Mk1 - Stolen
mk2vr6 replied to pcshak's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
skeleton key? why bother? it's a well known fact that the door locks are easy to beat and hence the oe alarm if fitted, the question is can you start and drive away a galaxy without the correct key or breaking the steering lock? NO! the steering lock is designed to break and allow the steering wheel to spin freely if its forced! you can pull the barrel and beat it, but it will be messy and leave proof of this action! as for the imobiliser? it too can be beaten but again you need the right equipment and knowledge of how to do it! you dont just pull wires from the rear of the barrel and twist them together as in the movies ! so tbh your insurance company is well within their rights to question the break in and theft of the vehicle -
all VR6'S are VW's Ford couldnt make an engine that sweet :angry2:

Adding Rear Electric Window
mk2vr6 replied to Justice's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
you shouldnt need to replace the door cards the switch location is already there, its just how fussy you are? new door card or blanking gromit for the manual winder hole? the main problem will be the loom and the secondary controls/over ride buttons on the dash! if the primary loom to the door in the B post doesnt have the cables in? you will need to run a set of cables to the door and custom wire it all, plus you'll need the electric window/door looms!or another custom wire job ps. I have a full set of motors and mechs kicking around for a mk1 :angry2: and possibly the door switches? been a while since I stashed it all in the garage so they have gone walkies! -
hammer and chisel, if that doesnt work try a Stil saw, but remember to get the wheel changed and checked by someone with a valid license before you start :P if not just use a small flat bladed screw driver and lever the switch out
-
a big one that comes in a nice shiny box that looks pretty :P
-
the door switches are double pole switches, one for the interior lights the other for the dash display, hence why the dash display is still showing the door ajar warning
-
IIRC? once the transeiver is disconnected from the module it needs to be reprogrammed into the system the two parts will not communicate till you do this and wont allow the car to start! its a dealer job or possibly someone wth a full unlocked copy of vag com?

Mk1 Vw Caddy Pick Up For Sale , (rare Vw Rabbit)
mk2vr6 replied to jamesey's topic in Cars and auto related items.
its not a Rabbit! Rabbit was the North American name for MK1 or A1 Golfs, its a Caddy and your right in certain circles it is a well sort after vehicle! you would be better off sticking it on ebay or hitting a few of the hard core VW sites -
impressive is an under statement! the interior was full leather, the front seats were from an Audi S3 and the rest of the seats were retrimmed to match them! the car was a fully kitted Projektzwo Sharan, he just bought my projektzwo rear box off ebay for a spare, well he said at that price he just had to! so I unloaded all the other bits that didnt sell and were taking up space on the shelves on as well on him while he was here :D my spares will live on and will get used :D PS. I have recieved one email from a neighbour already about the noise and they live over 80m away! I await the polite words from the rest of street! in the morning :D
-
just a shot of a guys boot install in a sharan! loud in fact my neighbours thought WW3 had just kicked off in the street :D oh and the brakes? AP 4 POTS off an Aston DB9 :D they are needed to stop the 240 bhp and hidden behind a set of Bentley rims! his next project is drop a VW R32 lump and 6 speed box into it! and then come back and take me for a spin :D
