  1. I, too live in Scotland but not far up north than AD90 where they seem to get the worst every year. Well anyway my method at this time of year is to have a good set of tyres and to carry a air compressor with me at all times - if i get stuck in the snow i normally let out air out of the tyres so they have a larger than normal amount of tyre on the surface, drive out then pull over where i wont get stuck again and pump the tyres back up but usually below the recomended pressure. (Oh, i carry a small spade too when it gets really bad!) Snowchains are okay if you a knee-deep in snow constantly.
  2. I would still take it back to the dealers to get it checked out - they may replace the whole thing.
  3. Tiptronic is normally referred to cars having an automatic gearbox but also giving an advantage of using it like a manual gearbox. This is done by moving the lever up and down depending what gear you want and using the accelerator heavily in automatic mode will obviously go down a gear but not whilst in the tiptronic mode. The driver is in full control when to change gear.
  4. IIRC, i think there was a case when the power steering pump were being replaced on all affected cars showing these symptoms.

  7. I have to agree with gregers on this one - My brother when he had his Galaxy can vouch for this. His pads were changed by a mechanic who pushed the pistons back either too hard or too fast resulting in the seals in the master cylinder turning..........result a hefty bill to get a new cylinder fitted by Frauds.
  8. Alright bro! Different religions but we speak the same language (punjabi) so if you want to confuse the other members here we talk/type in Punjabi now and again. Should be a laugh................or maybe not a good idea, Mum will have a fit and ban us!!! Anyway welcome.
  9. Exactly the same except badged differently and a very slight cosmetic differences. Oh by the way Ford use their own petrol engines.
  10. The mountings, i think are slightly different depending on if you have a six or seven seater. What i meant to say was 'the layout'............sorry. Oh, btw, mk2vr6, i can hardly read your signature in that colour.
  11. Cheers mate and welcome.
  12. Assuming you have a Mark 2 Galaxy then yes it is a simple straight forward job. The nack is to have all the rear seats tilted forward then starting from the back two start removing them by pulling on i believe is a red coloured strap. However, they are very heavy and do take alot of space storing them. The mountings, i think are slightly different depending on if you have a six or seven seater.
  13. Give it some time mate, it's only been 24 hrs since you posted your problem - someone will reply soon bearing in mind it's also the xmas period.
  14. I have a feeling this could be turbo related with a boost leak some place, get a 'turbo expert' to check it out. (Or check all hoses yourself)
  15. Some manufacturers do it, some don't for obvious reasons. When i worked at BMW, we had to a get a disclaimer signed by the customer and file it in a safe! I think insurance companies aren't to keen either. Try the dealer and see what response you get.
  16. The time has come to renew my Galaxy's insurance, however, claim-free, accident-free and an additional 1 more year no-claims discount, they still decide to hike up my premium by
  17. Even though i am of a different religion, nevertheless, i would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Joyful, Peaceful and Sucessful New Year.
  18. Type 'avatars' in google and you will get a host of websites listing them. Thanks mum for your approval, i think i will change it more regularly......
  19. Is my avatar too rude, if so, i will remove it. Thanks
  20. A little bit of contradicting yourself mum (read your quote) :o But you like those rear lights though........oh, and there was something else which i can't remember now :o
  21. Alright mate, it's nice to see another fellow Scot joining this forum, i reckon we must be getting nearer to reaching double figures. :(
  22. Welcome Vilius, and gregers, have you not been following the recent weather forecasts? Majority of Scotland has been warmer and dryer than England for the past few weeks now!
