  1. The complete TDI MAF unit fits loads of VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda cars and the sensor part of it fits nearly every Bosch MAF unit which means it covers most European cars. The Ford MAF only fits the Ford and therefore there is less demand for it.
  2. Had the same problem on a Fiesta and it turned out to be the O-ring inside the works of the petrol cap (not the rubber seal where it closes on the filler pipe). The cap has a moving plunger inside like a safety valve to release pressure and the O ring had perished and was sticking.
  3. Try here: Compressortech
  4. When I take my key out of the ignition, the radio goes off so there is a switch that changes when the key is removed. It could be the wiring to the ignition switch is damaged or incorrectly connected
  5. I thought it was her tyres :D
  6. You should not notice the wheels locking before the ABS cuts in as it happens so quickly.
  7. Well if I had a Ferrari instead I would not have been able to get several cases of wine and 128 bottles of beer in it like I did in the Gal last night. Then again if I could afford a Ferrari I could probably afford a spare Gal as well.
  8. I cannot understand why people want to do a boy racer conversion to the Galaxy. The Galaxy is basically a family persons car and to me these conversions look silly, just like one of the 40 something size 18 mums at the school gates dressed up like Christina Aguellera or a Disco Dad in his chav muscle gear. I can understand doing things to make driving the car more pleasurable, such as sat-nav and better ICE or adding options that were not selected at purchase, or even a few minor tweaks, but all these spoilers and skirts just seem so pointless. They have a point on a 200mph car like a Ferrari or Lambourghini but not the Galaxy. Is doing this to a Galaxy the result of a mid-life crisis?
  9. My previous 97 2.8 Ghia had very different wheels to those, the spokes had flat surfaces that curved into the rims.
  10. I didn't know doing this would make my car do 270mph!
  11. Petrol Spend
  12. I don't think it is a power issue as the V6 has nearly twice as much as some diesels, but it could be a torque issue on the input to the gearbox where the increased torque could damage the box.
  13. I phoned around a few places that sell MAFs and it appears that the majority on sale are now after market replacements made in China. They actually have the Bosch part number stamped on them. I emailed several people on ebay asking about the MAFs they had for sale that look like genuine Bosch parts with Bosch numbers and oddly enough, none of them replied when asked if they were genuine Bosch. It appears that the UK distributor of these after market MAFs will send them directly to the consumer with an invoice from whoever is the middle man. No one I phoned would guarantee that a new MAF would be a genuine Bosch part so in the end I just went for the cheapest new one from a "retailer" for
  14. Is it a significantly different auto box to that on the 204bhp 2.8?
  15. The air con clutch has to be set up using spacer washers to a specific air gap of 0.35-0.75mm for the FS10 compressor and 0.4-0.8mm for the Sanden. A new clutch from Ford will probably cost over
  16. I am not convinced you need to remove the front bumper and panel to do this. You may get away with just removing the radiator grills and possibly the bar above it that the bonnet locks to. You might then be able to remove the pipe. There is a fair bit of space between the condensor and bumper to work in. I had my condensor replaced last week and the bumper was not removed to do this. To remove the condensor the Ford TIS advises drilling holes in the panel to get to the bolts. Again I am not clear on the pipe fittings as the cars differ slightly but to get at the compressor on my car, you need to remove the engine undertray which means raising the car.
  17. Many power steering systems will judder slightly when they are turned to full lock although my current galaxy does not.
  18. I have got the Ford one and it is very good. I also have some of the Halfords ones and they are not as good. The Ford one (Electrolux) has a fan inside to circulate the hot or cold air from the Peltier unit around the box whilst the Halford's boxes only have a flat metal plate inside. They both have a fan to blow the air on the outside. The Ford box also uses less current. With the Halfords boxes they all appear to use the same cooling unit so the tiny one uses as much power as the largest. The Halfords boxes can be carried to picnics like a large picnic box, albeit heavy but the Ford box can only really be left in the car.
  19. No the law applies to all goods sold to consumers by traders.
  20. Any goods sold by any trader have to be fit for purpose and last for a reasonable time. Unless you are a dealer yourself, it cannot have been a trade sale to a consumer. Disclaimers do not exempt anyone from the law.
  21. It is not the Ebay I am questioning, it is the OEM vs Bosch for quality of product.
  22. I have been looking at a few sellers on ebay and it seems that some of the MAFs are OEM. Are these worth it at around
  23. Mumof4 can yhou remember who it was? I tried a search but "MAF" is too short for the search engine.
  24. If you are looking at my middle picture the silver screws to the left above and below are posidrive. To the right of the top screw you can see a lump on the plastic molding that looks like a black screw, the torx screws into this from the other side. Posidrive screws are similar to and sometimes called crosshead or Philips screws as opposed to slot head screws.
  25. Mine is quite different to those pictures.
