Steering Wheel Nose

Is the wheel catching on your clothing? -
Not unless it was fitted as an option. You will get controls for the rear on the climate control panel, but only the dual aircon option gives you the extra vents in the headlining so that rear passengers get their own supply of cool air.

The Ford mirrors are a different shape to the VW and Seat ones. Don't think that Ford offered folding mirrors as an option at any time - not worth it anyway as they only reduce the width by a few inches. I have the same problem - if I want to put my Gal in the garage, I have to open the driver's window and fold the mirror in by hand. The VW and SEAT ones fold back quite a bit more than the Ford ones and it may be worth paying extra for them - although SEAT appear to fit them as standard on SE spec.

One remote key as standard until 2004 models launched. You won't get the chrome grille or chrome strip above the rear numberplate lamp either. Other than that, from memory there is almost no difference (different colours of paint and seat fabrics, different rear lamp style but same shape, slightly different alloy wheels, Ghia has dual aircon as standard on 2004 models) - the 2004 update is a very mild make-over.

Have you tried specialist car hifi shops, or specialist seat manufacturers, like Recaro? -
Oh well - glad you got it sorted any way.

Out of sync - tailgate is locked whereas drivers door is unlocked as you have it open. I would have thought that the CL solenoids would sort themselves out but you never know...
-
Did you get the tailgate lock out of sync when you changed the loom? Try disconecting the battery for 20 minutes?

There is a special tool clipped to the wheelbrace to remove the centre trims - it's like a large jewellery ring, with a bit sticking out that has a bent bit on it too. It fits into the fake allen bolt heads and you then pull strongly to unclip the wheel centre trims. It is not very clear in the handbook, and there is no sticker or anything to alert you of its presence by the wheel changing bits and bobs. All 4 wheel centres on "my" Gal had been butchered by the first owner/servicing garage(s) before I bought it. Ideally I would buy 4 new ones. Just spent Saturday with a tin of silver paint touching up scratches and scuffs on the wheels and the centres. They still notice, but not so bad now. Wonder how the paint will stand up to brake dust and "Wonderwheels"? I suggest you have a work with your garage's service manager - they should have been aware of the special tool to remove the wheel centres.

Auto Gearbox Wont Change Up

Is the ATF leaking away? Blocked valve in the 'box? Looks as if specialist advice will be required, in conjunction with an investigation. -
Only the usual - diconnect vehicle battery for 20 minutes then fingers crossed that everything works OK from scratch again.....

Give her a walkman? ... or get something like a Meriva or XC-90 and get her to sit in the back so she can choose her own music source and listen on headphones? -
Maybe the one before was modified with such a big hole that......

Hope you get your compressor sooner than I got mine last year - there were none in stock within the spares network (surprise, surprise, due to the high demand) and "my" dealer ended up sourcing one from within another dealer group. There are at least two types, the one fitted to Ford's own engine (ie the 2.3 for facelifted models) and another one for the VW engines (diesels and the 2.8).

Personally I wouldn't dare use any flushing agents or other additives especialy in the PD engines. Changing the oil every 2000 miles seems very good advice - but the problem is, why does it go black so quickly? Have you recently changed the grade of oil you use so that some gunge may have been loosened?

Magpie Trapped In Dash!

NOT the engine, that's the puzzling bit. What would run, and what sort of noise? Heater fan, additional coolant circulation fan? These would have to be mis-wired to run without the engine on from "cold". The two in-dash storage bins come out fairly easily with the use of the correct Torx drivers if you need to start looking. A torch and small angled mirror also come in handy....maybe a mouse has got inside? (Are we getting back to the cat issue?) Bless you! -
..with, or without, an extra hole in it? :D :D ;)

Plastic bag wrapped around the exhaust pipe? What sort of smell? Can you smell it from inside the car, or only from outside with bonnet open or closed?

(1) Ford dealer can definitely help you out - it just depends on their mood and policy as to how much they will charge (topic has been covered before - typically around

Siberian filigree hamster? Should I get both girls out looking for one (no boys)? Que? -
Something's wrong - driver's seat shouldn't vibrate just because the compressor is running, and the relay should not click very often in this weather. Did they actually put any gas in it?

Abs Problem- Help Please
Ivor_E_Tower replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
...and if you have ABS and it is not working, whatever the reason, the Police can issue you with a ticket for a serious fine for having a defective braking system. If you have ABS, it MUST be working. -
This is not recommended - the tyre wears according to the wheel camber too, and the best advice from the "experts" is to leave them in the same position. Also, if you do rotate them, you end up with a very large bill to replace all 4 at once
