Yes, but if system is low on gas there will be low pressure which will inhibit the compressor starting. Best thing is to momentarily connect 12volts across compressor clutch, then if it engages you know it is OK (up to a point). Trouble is that if compressor has been run for a while with no gas, and hence no lubricant, it will be u/s and need changing once the rest of the system has been sorted out.

Personally I wouldn't call a clutch a "consumable". The last 2 cars that I've taken through the 100,000 mile barrier were still on their original clutches, and I once worked with someone who recogned that if you used the clutch correctly, it should last the life of the vehicle (mind you that was in the days of the Austin Maxi, when maybe vehicles were not expected to go on for 250,000 miles or more...)
-
Some '01 models have them but IIRC they were an optional extra at that time.
-
FWIW: From what I can gather, first year's warranty is unlimited mileage but then a 60,000 mile limit kicks in for years 2 and 3  This shouldn't prevent consideration being given to a goodwill payment towards unexpected early failure.

Why do you want to trade in such a new car? Not many people will want to do that, hence there will be few guidelines to determine its value.
-
Think I can guess - if you now use the rear power socket for something else, eg in-car cool box, chances are you will blow the fuse as its circuit is carrying the power for the fridge too.
-
I suspect it's been done this way on purpose to stop the fridge from flattening your car battery, so from that point of view it is not a problem. If you want them wired in permanently, then a flat battery could result and I would have said that that WAS a problem.......

Auto Gear Stick

I would have said the opposite - if you can press the button and change the position of the lever when the ignition is off, then the inhibit solenoid is sticking ON and preventing you from moving the lever. -
Engine Tickover Speed
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Another?Maybe!'s topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Almost certainly the ICV. Sorry, I don't know where it is, I have a diesel (Ivor D Engine Ivor's website ) and a rock-steady idle speed. -

Drivers Window Wont Work !

Agree with you Andy. The click from the switch is mechanical noise from the spring inside it/electrical contacts being made. -
Ho hum - se my postings in the Galaxy section. Try a net cover for a small trailer, plus 4 of the latching eye thingies assuming you have the lashing eyes in the back of the Mondeo. Can be obtained from camping shops etc - I did mine for under

You have a non-standard immobiliser for sure! Welcome to the forum - see another recent post for instructions on how to code the key(s) - it was posted very recently.

The ones in Guildford and Camberley have reasonable reputations - maybe it depends on the staff in each individual outlet. Mind you, I did hear last year that they are on a bonus system for bringing in more work. (Incidentally I first mis-read the title of this thread as "cat servicing" - and after what our cat did on the floor last night, I thought maybe it could help me, but thereagain......)

Maybe the 90 PS engine wasn't offered in higher trim levels once the 110 PS engine was launched (else my used car guide is wrong again!).
-
In the UK, the 90 engine was never offered with the higher trim levels. The amount of equipment you get also varies in different countries.
-
Depends on the type of journeys - if you are going to use it for transporting clients - 7 people on board most of the time? - maybe the 90 will be a little slow, but if it is in stop-start traffic most of the time, this will not be too much of a problem. Also for trips to airports, once on a motorway cruising, there should be very little between the 90 and 110. Personally I would get the 110 or, as has been said, try for a 115.
-
'97 engine won't be the PD variant though, will it? - so you may find that it is not as sensitive to fuel composition/quality as the PD ones, and the biodiesel may well be OK in it.

Time to call on the warranty.......

Do You Have An Aftermarket Towbar?
Ivor_E_Tower replied to GaryM's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Nimrod - my latest "project" with wood and string is how to keep any mice that the cat brings in at night inside the kitchen! Just had to block up all low-level holes and make a "skirt" to fit round the base of the fridge-freezer! This results from yesterday lunchtime when my wife opened the dustbin under the sink to find a mouse in it, looking at her..... -
Yup, you got it sussed now!

All vehicles with the climate control system have the dual display, but to get the rear system to work separately, you need the dual aircon with additional vents in the roof for rear passengers. Unless you have them, the rear unit is just a heater so will not provide cool air over and above the fascia vents. Hence with the normal "single" aircon/climate control, the control system does not operate the rear fan unless it is to assist in heating the interior.

Estimation Of Airco Repair?

Unless garage rates are far higher in Belgium than in UK, I think your dealer is trying to make you pay in full! Under warranty my system was almost replaced at a cost to Ford of about -
Parking Sensor Operation
Ivor_E_Tower replied to degens's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Don't know if this applies to the first shape Gals or not, but on facelifted versions the parking sensors are activated when you engage reverse gear, or switch them on manually. Once on, both front and rear (if fitted) work until vehicle speed gets to about 12mph or you switch them off manually. Yes, the front sensors work even when you are reversing to aid parallel parking etc.
