  1. Ah, so you took your car to the dealers. No wonder it doesn't work as well as it did before!
  2. ..and has your coolant level dropped at all? If not then it must be condensation that is not draining properly - or the drain pipe is missing so it drains into the car rather than outside. My parents had a similar problem a few years ago - drain pipe blocked by debris, and water accumulated in the heater matrix enclosure resulting in a "sloshing" sound every time they went round a corner!
  3. 115PS engine came with the facelifted Galaxy although the "old" 90 PS engine is still an option on lower trim levels. As to air filters - yes there are at least 3 different sizes - I speak from experience as I'm still waiting for the correct size one to turn up to complete the service I had on my Gal last week-end! So far 2 different sized ones have turned up and they are both wrong! Good thing is that there seems to be at least one "technician" at the garage (Nationwide autocentre) who knows what he is talking about - was there when he gave their supplier merry hell about sending in the wrong filter again!
  4. Welcome to the forum; your dealer is talking out of an orifice other than his mouth, as many of them do. Not sure when remote locking became standard, but it was an option for many years even when it wasn't standard. This topic has been covered before and IIRC a good dealer should be able to tell you from the VIN number if remote locking is fitted or not. AlarmMan, Nimrod and others (other members of this forum) will tell you the best after-market system to fit if you don't already have remote locking.
  5. Don't need the code - just open the rear storage bin, undo the 2 fixing screws, lift out the CD-changer, pull out the wiring multi-plug. Wait for a minute, then re-connect, re-fix in vehicle. It worked for me; good luck!
  6. Heat rises - if the top hose was cold and you'd been driving for "a while" I would suspect that the thermostat is jammed closed - if it were open, the hot water in the block would have warmed the water in the top hose, even if the waterpump was not working - unless the waterpump is near to the theromstat and has jammed in such a way that it is blocking the waterways - most unlikely I would have thought. I would expect that changing the thermostat is a simple and cheap job - I once changed the one on my old Rover 820 and didn't lose more than a cupful of water IIRC.
  7. If the gear stick was behind the front seats I have a feeling that the compressor may be looking a bit sad for itself
  8. If you don't mind paying up to
  9. Done today (a Saturday) by my local Nationwide Autocentre with Tesco clubcard points and at half-price as I'm a CSMA member (
  10. Chrome surround to front fog lamps (where fitted) and grille; different centre console with different radio/CD units (option of having genuine Sony stuff fitted).
  11. Is it the same colour, just under a new name? There are a few other colours that have at least 2 names, satin silver being one of them. Does anyone have the definitive answer? Personally I like the "bronze" tinted colour, whatever it may be called!
  12. VCD's from the far East are better quality than VHS tapes :)
  13. Try changing the coolant temperature sensors - could be that Engine ECU thinks car is hot when it's cold so leans the mixture off, or vice-versa. Have you taken the plugs out to look at them? This could give you a clue.
  14. I hope it has purple flecks in it, rather than a purple flex - the first electrically powered Galaxy perhaps? Range limited to 15 metres before the plug is pulled from the socket....... :D :) :D :D :) :D
  15. Warning - on facelifted cars, the Ford mirror housing and glass is different to the VW and SEAT ones.
  16. Yes - but where do you position them, because the facelifted headlamps have no alignment marks on them at all - and what is best to clean the glue off after use so as not to damage the plastic lenses of the headlamps?
  17. With the headlamps off, look into the headlamp units. If you can see a single-fillament bulb, similar to the fog lamp bulb, then you have halogen. If you have a sort of silver coloured round reflector thingy, and a fairly obvious light-blue tint to the beam when the lights are on, and you have headlamp washers, then chances are that you have xenons! If you open the bonnet and look at the rear of the headlamps, where the wires go into them, you should also be able to tell from that.
  18. Yes - but does the remote retain its settings during battery change, or do you have to re-code the key if you change the battery? If so, a suitable standby battery with leads and crocodile clips may be handy to have!
  19. What car and which engine, and how often does the click occur?: ABS self-check?
  20. OK take the reg number to your Ford Parts counter and they will tell you from there, unless someone else beats us to finding the name. Phew, that was a strain!
  21. DVLA have facilities to "de-register" an owner who rejects a car sold by a garage, so looking at the V5 may not tell the whole story...
  22. DC please revisit my last post - I've just edited it to stick a new colour on it. Is it that one?
  23. DC are you still out there? Have we found it yet? Is it this shade - which the selling garage has misdescribed as wine red, so I still don't know the proper name for it!!
