  1. try opening a window instead :)
  2. Vacuum leak. Check pipes and connections.(easier said than done :) ) The vacuum operates the turbo boost (via the turbo control solenoid), if you don't have enough vacuum or its dodgy (intermittent or unstable) then the boost pressure can go out of range (picked up by the boost pressure sensor) and the the ECU trips into limp lettuce mode... Too lazy to search?
  3. German court rules moderators liable for forum comments Glad I didn't volunteer.....
  4. I somehow feel I ought to comment but then again perhaps not....
  5. VR6 is obsessed with mammary glands. Perhaps we can all chip in and send him some hormone tablets and he can grow his very own.
  6. You wanna try and do a lazarus? Your time and nerves not worth anything? Guarantee not worth Dick. What's he gonna do? Find you another? When your'e stuck on the Hard shoulder of the M6 in the pouring rain, with a disintegrated alternator, smashed up engine/radiator and a shorted out battery? Need I go on and on and on...... Send it back - to the crusher where it belongs. I bet.... Sounds like a script from the Simpsons....
  7. On second look I would say you're looking for trouble fitting that piece of s**t. It has evidently been lying in a scrapyard for 3 or 4 years after coming of a taxi thats been to the moon and back.
  8. Aproximately 2% (two percent) brighter than the OEM bulbs fitted (which are.....OSRAM) SEATKID reviews OSRAM Silverstars! <_<
  9. <_< What a heap of cr*p! Its OLD and corroded, the frame is broken with chunks missing. The damage to the frame could mean winding damage and structural integrity issues. It may work, but its way past its sell by date and the regulator brushes and bearings will certainly be well worn. For a tenner it may be worth a shot - but nothing more...
  10. ;) OK, whatever. point(s) taken. Believe me it would be extremely difficult to measure the length of a track rod. From where to where? And of course the track rod is S shaped. :) To make sure the steering wheel has been fitted in the correct position, start at the straight ahead position, it should have exact no of turns to lock to left and to right. Geometry is not affected significantly by unequal track rod lengths. And you are Ron! - no-one is the ulimate expert here - the one the forum would refer to as "God" :)
  11. I'm afraid you'r'e wrong about this. The steering wheel straight position signifies the rack is centered. Track rod ends are not made to a great dimensional accuracy and the position of the rack relative to the wheels can vary a little as can the wheel to wheel distance. Thats why both ends are adjustable. The steering geometry (both straight and on lock) depends on the wishbone and strut geometry, nothing to do with rack/track rods.
  12. Have you got fuel and the car is not on an incline?
  13. If its been bashed then the cause could be minor damage. Go to a good trusted MOT centre and ask them to check the track rod ends particularly the side that was bashed. The track rod end ball joint may be shot - causes drift- or the track rod may just be bent slightly - needing readjustment. If the joints are OK then any good quality tyre centre will laser track for between
  14. Does it turn over?
  15. Look.....Why don't you phone around all your local Ford, VW and SEAT dealers parts depts. Explain to them what you want (quote them the part number). Don't forget to ask for discount!! I ordered a complete distributor for a Golf last month. My local VW dealer was far cheaper (total cost
  16. IIRC there is a joke that goes..... Q. How many forum members does it take to change an alternator?
  17. 1st, 3rd, 5th etc services (i.e. not "major services") are little more than an oil and filter change. The "inspection" part rarely takes more than 5 minutes and is often skipped. Servicing is the "cash cow" for the dealer - just look at the number of cars being serviced daily at a main dealer (mostly company cars...) Remember the mark up on oil and parts is pretty substantial too. 3 year warranties were invented to help support the dealer...
  18. Insurance job -
  19. Here's the tale....... Decides to fill up at Sainsbury's. As usual all the right way pumps are occupied by daydreamers with all the time in the world. So smartass here reverses into opposite empty lane and fills up. When I come out after paying, Big Tw*t White Van Man has pulled in front of me blocking exit path, with x cars either side. So, seeing my rear view mirror is clear, I decide to reverse .......driver's door swings open (how did that happen?) and BANG! One demolished petrol pump and slightly bent door later.... "Oh dear" - I think....or words to that effect.... White Van man sticks head out of window, bellowing with laughter, and shouts "Thats what you get for trying to reverse out of a forecourt!" - "Such wit" I think....or words to that effect.... I'd blame the wife except she doesn't drive and was at home at the time..... Don't cry for me Argentina.....the truth is... life is truly a bitch.....
  20. B*GGER! :P I'm just too embarassed to tell you what I just done! But don't fret.....I expect no sympathy! B) Even I think what I tw*t I am! Maybe I'll say when my blood pressure settles...... :P
  21. My! That must really impress the ladies....
  22. If you're looking for sympathy then..... :P :P Ain't life a bitch! - I bet you knew that door runner was dodgy... ;) Now's the time to learn about touchup pencils, tcut and lacquer. Quick! before the rust sets in! Been there, done that, got the scars to prove.....
  23. Probably not changed as official service sheet says change at 3 years/60,000 miles IIRC.
  24. Trade down to a 90bhp AHU or 1Z engine. They can plod along at 30mph in fifth no problem. Tractor technology at its very best!
  25. Actually type MAF. (with the full stop) - the search engine doesnt search 3 letter words.
