Hoping somebody could help, possibly by putting me in touch with a decent breaker. I am looking for the plastic cover that fits on the lever of the seat that you lift when you tilt the seat forward. This is the lever at the back of the seat not the one on the side that also operates the recline mechanism. This is for the middle row left hand seat. God knows where the original one went. I pulled one off another seat and it does seem to have a part number on it but I am already imagining the dumb look I will get at the parts counter at the local dealer. Any ideas please? Mike

I usually get mine on the ferry as well, about 50p more than Halfords but I'm never that organised!!!!!!

If you use the correct converters you should not have a problem. I have used proprietory converters for years on glass and plastic with no problems at all. Its probably people who try to clean the adhesive residue of the lens with nasty solvents (instead of the correct cleaner) once they have finsished with the converters who end up damaging their lenses.

Great tip, I'm going to check mine tomorrow.

Finally Done The Deed. Gal Will Be No More
mikeohope replied to Davetheref's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I would have gone for the S Max myself if I could have found one at the right price. 1st class vehicle but no decent deals on the used circuit just yet, also wanted diesel auto but apparently not due until 3rd Q 2007. People I know who are in the know say wait until the end of this year for good used deals. Ford have not given the lease and fleet companies the usual 33% discount so they are needing to hang on to the vehicles a bit longer to make them pay. -

Hello all, I have a 2006 Mk2 Galaxy. I have been thinking what to do about upgrading the in car entertainment. I have 3 kids. Two who will go nuts on long journeys and one who will just sleep (only 3 months). I have decided that portable DVD systems mounted to the headrests are probably best for the Kids as I want the flexibility to be abale to remove them and use them out of the car as well. I am going to go for units with IR headphones to reduce the cables. I am going to upgrade the main Head unit seperately and do not want it to interface with the kids DVDs so it can be a standalone unit. I want to provide permanent power to the portable DVD locations at the headrest on each of the front seats so that I am not reliant on batteries. Where is the best place to take a power feed from and what is the best way to run/hide the cables? Is it possible to run it up the inside of the seats and how would you do this? I am sure this must have been done many times. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike

It is fantastic, we went their two years ago at Xmas. Very cold but kids (3 & 1 and a bit) loved it. Now have another kid and the 1 and a bit one is now three so time to shift off there again. Thinking about later in the year. I also went when it first opened and it had no atmosphere but now I think it can match Florida as far as the Magic Kingdom is concerned. Doesn't have all the other attractions that Orlando has but for a 2/3 day trip you don't need it. Staff are good, shows are great. You'll have a good time. Don't be worried about eating in the cafes in the aracade just outside the park, we did and found it very reasonable and in the evening the tables are vsiisted by characters. Kids faces are a picture.

Latest news, car is booked in tomorrow for repair by Ford Authorosed and insurance approved body shop. Pics will be uploaded of repair when its done. Just came back from weekend trip to spain and every Galaxy/Seat/Sharan I saw had horrendous sill damage. Its amazing that this weakness was allowed to carryon being built in to these vehicles for so long. Mike

Hi all, Here is an update, we are now arguing about who does the repair, I have quotes from pucker insurance approved body shops, the dealer who supplied the vehicle (not Ford) wants to use some back street guy who he has known for 20 years. There is

OK so the dealer has acknowledged responsibility and agreed to carry out a full repair. Can't ask for better than that really. My only worry now is to ensure that it is done by a fully qualified and approved bodyshop. Thanks for all replies and now I can concentrate on my next task which is the upgrading of the ice system. Kind Regards MW

Thats what I think beacuse the vehicle had a tyre fitted just before I collected it from the dealer I purchased it from and I reckon the fitter did exactly that. Thanks for your reply. Mike
-
Hi What do you mean "appears repaired" the paint is broken, no rust yet, the flat flange or seam is pushed upwards and the belly of the sill is distorted. Anyway I am taking it to the body shop in the morning for a quote and will hit the dealer with the bill. Whoever lifted the car used the wrong jack point I think.

Hi all, I see there is a thread elsewhere about damaged sills to which I have contributed but I wondered wether anybody can advise me how the damage apparent in my pics below would be repaired and what a likely cost might be? I am certain this was caused by a tyre fitter as it is right behind a wheel that had a new tyre just before I collected the vehicle and I missed this in my pre collection inspection. Mind you I do have the dealers description which graded the car at A1 and he emplyed the fitter! Many thanks Mike W

Guess What, They Crushed My Sills
mikeohope replied to rwtomkins's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
Seems that way from reading the posts on here, but looks like it is usually due to bad procedure being followed, presumably it can be repaired? Any ideas how much? Mike W -
I wouldnt let chips away any where near a valued car. They totally messed up my mondeo and had to get it done by pro body shop. Some of these chips away guys have no more than a months training and they use substandard paint.

Guess What, They Crushed My Sills
mikeohope replied to rwtomkins's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I have a year old galaxy and just before I picked it up the trader put a new tyre on the driverside front. Guss what, the cill is damaged and the straight line between the belly of the cill and the flange is now concave. I have an email in to the dealer as this is obviously a tyre monkey problem and I want it resolved. I don't know how they will fix it by I expect them too as it was pre purchase damage. We'll wait and see. Here is a pic -
Hi, I have been searching for this flip key system for ages but obvioulsy using the wrong search thread on ebay. Can anybody tell me if it will work with a late mk2 model please? the ebay listing only refers to Galaxy 95. Thanks Mike W
