IIRC 95 - 00 mk1 might be 99 00-06 mk2 but was some over lap eg some mk2 had lap belt in middle centre seat, some have solid head rests like the mk1 according to the master mechanic (Jim) at JR Fords reckon some less obvious parts also changed slowly

from experience these freebies are almost disposable especially the silver ones - tend to round -koff or break with any serious torque :lol: ;) now why does that word remind me of B_K ;)

I have electric moving seats in the escort (at least up and down) and although the ghia gal has up/down forward/back its all manual, in fact the spring that raises the seat is strong - many the time I've pulled the wrong lever to swivel the seat and catapulted the seat up :rolleyes:

could the brakes be binding - is it a sudden change ??

okay - what sort of quality is your meter - could it be reading a lower current than actual?? From this point - I think I've read the whole post - I would connect the battery in line with the ammeter and pull enough fuses to get the reading to 0 Zero nothing nowt. Then with this minimum number of fuses out do your overnight test. Assuming its not the battery (2 tried) and the charging circuit it must be the discharging side of things. A precautionary note: different make/design batteries may have varying discharge/p.d. curves (unlikely but possible I know because my 'A' level students used to investigate these for coursework) can you get a different make of battery rather than 2 of the same make?

have you got your undertray fitted ?? - reason I ask - spray allowing the belt to slip especially at the ends of the steering - it seems more load is put on the pump/belt at that time ???

TRIM LEVEL - ghia,zetec,lx didn't know at the time whether you meant climate control - heater which is on the ghia you see (maybe zetec too )

agreed you have to be ultra careful it recoils back with the weight of 2 buckles on it and has removed peeps teeth before IIRC (reported on here) but on the whole would rather have this than the lap belt :)

our y-reg 2001 has the 3 point belt - so this looks like the time it changed

Perhaps you can put your finger on the strap as the door closes ~(you said its nowhere near closed when it makes the noise) and feel if it clicking :lol: be careful though :P
