  6. perhaps switch on the brake pedal has failed in an odd way although wonder why they have poser even when ignition off ??????????
  7. VSS - vehilcle speed sensor - having a bad day/month year ? but would think it would show some other symptoms ?
  8. had the same thing happen once in 4 years but the problem never reappeared but had the instrument cluster replaced since (for a non related problem)
  9. on mk2 Automatic transmission module is between the battery and side of the car struggling to find diagram for mk1 atm

  11. I thought that these were supplied from VW with the plastic bits, have you checked that the metal bits are not there IIRC some folks have found they were behibd the trim - memory is a bit vague here - try doing a search

  15. I thought that (on the mk2 at least) the passenger door had the same effect as the drivers door (not that will invalidate your test)

  17. if you short out the contacts on the drivers door switch does it revert to as it was before?
  18. no its not twisted - had to arrange it like that otherwise you wouldn't be able to see which way its tilted :D will check how it hangs when retracted on the pillar :blink:

I cant see how the belt can be worn by the clip unless its not in correctly or they have changed the design - op may be able to comment - see picture below PS:- removing the clip makes it really easy to untwist a belt which one of the darlings in the middle row has managed - Houdini like to get twisted and knotted have you tried to put them in the other way - its very difficult - picture is a view of the passenger side seat belt clip viewed from the rear right - difficult to show
  24. the outer ring should hold the socket in the pillar while pusing the plug in - it sounds like you have unscrewed this ring - have a look in the faq for dissembly/assembly of these plugs specifically here
