  3. last time I did this (not a gal) used lithium grease and applied to the teeth and the helical bit so that it rotated and move in and out smoothly - IIRC
  4. has the air-con compressor seized and caused the belt failure ?

  6. usual to whip it off and grease the bendix (cog on helical gear which engages with the teeth on the flywheel) shaft gets dirty/sticky and wont disengage quickly after engine has started sounds noisey/screechy until it lets go.

  11. when I changed the maf it looked pristine and a swipe with IPA covered cotton bud had no effect (or any dirt) - it was not dirty or clogged different technology as SK has said
  12. after you have added the attachment it should be listed below that box, are you then clicking the button next to it to add into the post (at the current cursor position)?
  13. very common on galaxies - see many previous threads, formula sd oil comes in 5 litre containers only need 4.5l - if they cut corners and not change the oil filter can end up another litre overfilled - I always check before leaving the garage and they give me the container with the other 0.5l for top ups between services

  18. Photos from digital camera thread here are some sample images taken when we got the camera last october Nik - Is that two wasps or the same one? Are they common wasps or German? same wasp but looked like a common wasp but not sure of the difference :huh:

  21. kick in temp does seem to vary - read some reports of as low as 5C up to 15C :rolleyes: as for the disconnected wire - possibly it has smoked (older type glowplug) in the past and rather than sort it someone just removed the wire :rolleyes:
  22. not familiar with mk1 but possibly the air intake temp sensor ???????????????????????
  23. I'm sure I've read somewhere about a spare connector/wire around here but I don't think this is it, is there evidence that it was connected - plastic clean where it would mate to a socket :rolleyes:
