Hi Guys, Just a quick question about your running temps. I have a 2.3 auto 1997 82k, the temp gauge stays on the "N" of the normal. Whenever im in a long traffic jam on a hot day the needle goes to the "R".I think my fan kicks in but the gauge doesnt seem to go back down when staying stationary( gauge has never gone any higher). soon as i pull off and start moving the gauge starts to move back to the "N". Now if i put the Aircon on in traffic, I can hear the fan kick in hard as revs drop and the temp stays at "N" all the time. So is my rad fan working? or isnt it spinning fast enough? car was serviced in december full system flush etc! Maybe Thermostate? fan switch? Thanks

How did needle drop down? normally has a pin stopping it... unless she took it off the clock :rolleyes: I think its electronic, if all other instruments work ok, i would check sender unit on gear box it may of poped off?!?!

Thanks for replies, had car in garage, and found a split air pipe for crank vent. I have cleaned all sensors and given car a good run out on motorway and now running sweet as. so glad it wasnt MAF :-)

hey guys, i have a 1997 r plate 2.3 auto. I started having an idle issue 2 weeks ago ONLY when car temp got warm. it would idle un and down when stationary and sound like engine is missing a beat but not miss fire. had a full service new plugs oil etc, needed new Coil packs as garage thought that caused the idle issue. Now car idles badly from cold start till warm finish. it hasnt stalled but is a pain. car drives well and no performance probs at all. When i engage drive at times the revs naturally drop a wee bit, but now it drops to 800 ish and car bunny hops when foot on brake. like its trying to stall but revs up etc. Any ideas?? sounds like idle contral valve to me? do i have one? Ive tried card cleaner in intake and stp fuel cleaner.

Hi guys need your advice. I changed my panel Air filter at weekend, but when putting the airbox back on the clips which connect the pipe feed to where MAF sensor sits snapped off when pushing them down!!! So now i have tie clips in place as temp measure. Went to ford they wont sell top cover of box, they sell whole unit for 114.00 +vat :lol: WTF....... tried looking for induction kits for a laugh there only 70ish but for model 2000> I have 2.3 1997 R plate. Any ideas what to do as buying new box is a complete piss take!!! thanks in advance.

Holy crap they came out big sorry :) Ive found out from searching theses bulbs are part of the gear selecta unit. whole unit is 80 quid. i can get some bulbs from halfords and glue them in... So no need to ponder anymore LOL

Never seen bulb like this before... any ideas??? Can out of my auto lever gear light..., you reccon bulb snapped off?? i cant see how else it would come out. Hi all mine is a nov 1997 R reg. I cant see any unsed bulbs on dash unit... i can only guess it lights up the gear on the floor pan? Either way any pics or instruction how t change either bulbs??? lol thanks guys

I have a wee problem, at night i dont know what gear im in, yes i have an auto lol. I cant see any display in speedo pannel, surely the auto stick should have a light showing what gear your in? Some times when going from park to drive i dont always know if im in drive netural or 3rd gear. Anyone confirm if their was any form of lighting? I have a 2.3 ghia X auto. Thanks

Hi all can anyone tell me if my car has a cambelt or chain? its a Novemember 1997 R reg 2.3 auto ghia x, it has 84k on clock and cant find any receipts to confirm cambelt/chain replacement. Any helps is appreciated.
