Replacing O2/lambda Sensor 2.3
Stevoo replied to Stevoo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
well done marc, luckly my car doesnt come with the under tray, so only took me 20 mins to remove and replace the probe. I have a feeling that my cat which is a pattern part one(replaced 2 years ago by previous owner) is causing the problem. its the only part which doesnt have a sensor to say its not working  -

Stevoo replied to Stevoo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
i replaced fuel pump realay not long ago as it started to burn out. i cant confirm if the throttle is actually openning 100% but with my code reader on idle my throttle is at 16%, ill try and get a mate to come with me and see if it hits 100% on full throttle. is the tps sensor easy to replace? also is throttle cable or fly by wire? -

gear box will kick down and car will rev but as it hits 3000rpm its holding back and trying to carry on reving but cant. i suppose like a full load going up a hill really. ive tried manual gear mode and car still cant rev passed 3krpm. could it be the TPS sensor? or cam sensor? -

I have just replace O2 sensor due to error code on ecu. my range mileage was 173 on a full tank, after replacing O2 sensor this morning it now showing at 358. So all good but the car still wont rev passed 3000rpm! i have reset ecu and scanned for any new errors but at a lost. car will rev upto redline when stationary. I had coil packs and plugs replace begining of the year. As their no errors on ecu has anyone got any ideas? its a 1997 2.3 auto 89k miles. Thanks. -

yer its 4 wire. thanks for help. -
I will be changing my o2/lambda sensor due to error code(p0171) on ecu along with power loss, low mpg and missfiring. My question is regarding the cable connector end, i hear its not easy finding the plug in the engine bay to remove. Most ppl cut the wire and tape it up with electrical tape. Anyone got any input pls?

Engine Stalling When Idling/moving Slowly
Stevoo replied to sallyc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It will be on the Throtle body, where the airbox connects to the engine, you should see a throtle cable. I think yours is like my 2.3 engine, the inlet is at the back of the engine. May need a mirror so see exactly where it is. -
Autobox Won't Change Up @ Times

Its not a simple case of drain it and refill it. It has some weird fill up point, and you have to build the pressure up in gearbox before you can drain it. if you put slightly too much or too little it will blow your box up, or contaminate it and will end up not lasting long. best pay a speciallist so if u get any issues through it back to them. -
Dont press the button on gearstick, as this will stop it going into 2nd & 3rd but you will need to press button to engage 1st, try it with engine off, if it wont go down it maybe the plastic strip that runs down the middle of the gator plate, sometime it works lose and stop the stick moving all the way down. Just a case of removing the gearstick handle(allen key) and pulling the stick cover off, then simply prise the gator plate off and check for any parts blocking shaft.

Get gearbox specialist to replace the oil, its not a job for any garage as you need to build up the pressure to drain the box. Im sure fresh oil will fix it. -

New Drive Belt Causing Problems
Stevoo replied to Galaxy Ghia Gal's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Now since whens does the heater cause the aircon to fail? lol, unless you have climate control? i would switch the ECCON button so its displayed(means aircon off) then put heater on and start car, if all is ok then yes sounds like the Aircon compressor/belt . -
I have a set of vauxhall alloys they are the follow:- PCD 5x110 Offset 40 Bore 56.1 16" My current alloys are the following:- PCD 5x112 Offset 40 Bore 57.1 16" Is their anyway to make the vauxhall wheels fit? or is it a plain and smiple no!? :lol

Side Indicator Lens Removal
Stevoo replied to stevic's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
iirc you get a flat head screw driver and wedge it in between side of lense and body work, then gently push it in the gap by a small amount then push screw driver towards body work and it should pop out... as they have a clip on one end so fitting is just a case of pushing it in. -
Air Con Relay Noise Clicking
Stevoo replied to _dg's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Ok well you should have a switch on dash which looks like a "snowflake", if the yellow light is on then aircon will be enabled, press it so light goes out and see if the noise/click goes away. -
Sounds like water pump, but you wouldnt get a knocking noise from it. id get your car into a local trusted garage for an inspection post hast.

From what i remember, the second fan kicks in when temps are really hot(like summer), as you said switching aircon one makes both fans spin. I have this problem as well, I just need to replace thermostate and fan switch.

Air Con Relay Noise Clicking
Stevoo replied to _dg's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Everytime your aircon fan goes to spin the relay clicks, to stop this just make sure you have the "ECCON" displayed on your climate control display. -
Sounds like a dodgey stalk mate, maybe a loose wire in it. Try talking steering column off and check for any loose wires or any play in stalk.
