I have an 03 plate just like yours and my handbook is correct for the car, think you may have been given the wrong one.

Stinking Water Washer

Think I will go with pre mixed stuff. Is that made using distilled water or do you still have the problems of minerals in the water? -

Stinking Water Washer

Thought you had to use 'special' washer fluid with the fan type of washer jet? If so is it only available from the dealer? I have only filled mine with plain water at the mo. Can the jets become blocked if you use certain types of fluid? I have used baby bottle cleaning stuff to get rid of nasty smells as suggested by vanbursta, it works well. -
Does anyone know if an audi remote key can be reprogrammed for use with the galaxy? They have three buttons on them and a flip out blade. They use the same frequency as the ford key

Mkii Bumper

Best thing I have used is designed for motorbike farings. Basically an adhesive like araldite to mend the break but then apply a backing of woven glass fibre mat using an adhesive similar to superglue. It formed a repair which was stronger than the plastic around it. It was Three Bond Bodywork Repair Kit. -
Selecting First Gear

Modified my driving style on the way home and no problems. Think I had been trying to change from 3rd to 1st (being lazy) My old escort used to do this with no problem, on the gal if I engage 2nd it engages 1st easily Thanks for the reassurance I am convinced it is OK now -
There is a bit in the handbook about how to reset the service indicator. I haven't got mine with me but think it is a button in the glovebox

Selecting First Gear

Should it change from 2nd to first with no problem then? -
I am having a problem with engaging first if the car is moving. I get a grinding feel throught the gear lever, I have not tried to force it but need to be either stationary or moving very slowly (1-2 mph) before it will engage. Has anyone else found this? Have I got a problematic synchomesh? Will I have to entrust the car to ford again to do the work under warranty? Will they crush the sill again? Help!

What difference has it made to your insurance costs? Fancy a bit more power but not if it is going to make life difficult

May have to uprate the brakes and steering, fit wider tyres, lower and firm up the suspension...

Saw a scooter in Motor cycle news a couple of weeks ago powered by two small jet engines. I think they would be useful additions but where to mount them? One each side at the back or on the roof

Electric Window Bits To Identify
jwilliams replied to craigm's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I get a loud click (or small bang) when the passenger window gets about halfway down did you notice this before your problem? Just wonder if I am about to get the same job to do? -
Not sure I will be able to get to the bits through the vent. Is there any way of accessing the ducting? There again a five year old may be able to get an arm in!!!

Great for accomodating growing teenagers no more crush on the back seat. A few niggles and problems but with all the info on the site an so much help available not so daunting. Would buy another but as always would probalbly want more toys so will have to get a Ghia -
Machine guns to take out the myopic gits who keep on pulling out on me on roundabouts. I know it looks like a bus but it is not THAT slow!!!

I am part of a diving club which has a boat we tow. One of our guys was pulled by the police as the passenger side one had broken, he was towing using an L200 pickup which also has big mirrors like the gal. He was told at the roadside he must have both! Aonther of our guys got into bother towing with a Zafira as he had no additional mirrors fitted. Only ticking offs at the roadside no points luckily

If they don't know the basics I would take it elsewhere too. I have uses independent ford people before for my old escort but don't know who to take the gal to would an independent VW place be better? Either would probably be better than the main ford dealers, although I took it in to have an air vent replaced which took almost two hours! Car came out with the sill they claim they did not bend when they did the cam belt straightened!

Having the windows open will make your mpg drop as it increases drag. You may be better off with air con on!
-
Looks like the previous owner mashed the part of the centre air vent closest to the driver. Took car into the dealers who replaced the vent free of charge but it seems there are parts of the old one somewhere in the system. I am concerned they could block or damage something and would like to remove them. I have no idea where they may be lodged but sometimes hear them rattling around when the air flow is set to max. Any ideas???

Rear Window Handles
jwilliams replied to Battlebus's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Have noticed a similar problem (and got a wet seat when washing the car as the window was slightly open) and noticed our 5 year old using the winder as a handle to help him climb out. Now routinely check the winder position after he is out until he grows longer legs. He only sits on one side and I have not found the problem on the other.
