ok next chapter.. another insurance company i have just tried gave it back as a 115bhp ghia... (this is the info i have on it) also it has a large plastic engine cover that looks just like the one my father had on his gttdi 150 but instead of a big ass vw badge on it it has a round ford badge (which looks slightly daft) also as i mentioned i didnt think they put a six speed manual on the earlier tdi and only on the pd?? i am pretty damn certain that its a 6 speed box or otherwise ive been ramming it into reverse on the motorway... ah the answer to my other question about my lower mpgs!!!

does my car have an alarm/immobaliser fitted as standard.. if so does anyone know what type please.. just getting new insurance quotes... i know its got an alarm as it kept going off when i left the dog in it on a sweltering hot day with just one window open half an inch.. so in the end i though i had better take her with me (she was also very wet and sweaty), then i realised that if you lock the car twice then it turns of the internal sensors!! so hey presto i chucked her back in and went to the pub for 3 hours!!! thanks ps i was joking about the dog being left in the car for 3 hours... i was back after 2 and a half!!

i am a little confused here.. when i bought my car i was told its a vwpd 115 bhp engine... ok fair enough, i am even sure that it said 115 on the log book but cant remember exactly.. anyway whenever i put in the details of my car on any insurance forms or part request form it always comes back as 110bhp... :( also the guy i bought it off said it was a 2001 model but its coming back as november 2000 .. does this mean he lied and it isnt a 2001 and that it isnt the vw pd engine and that it is only 110 bhp.. i will be really upset if ive lost 5 bhp... oh well maybe not ive already lost nearly 200 just by buying it!!! its confusing as i thought the 6 speed box only came on the pd engines and they were either 90 or 115??? could i have been caught just at the crossover so some places still think its the earlier 110???

forgot to mention on this run... the car WAS fully loaded with a wife.. (thats it loaded already!! :( ) 4 kids ranging from 6-13 and then all the luggage for a 4 day break.. most of it was the 13 year old girls!!! (i got by on a pair of pants and a toothbrush as there wasnt anymore room once my teenager had loaded her stuff).. anyway with things i have seen about weight in the car affecting mpg maybe my results werent that bad????

Radio Codes, I Know Its A No No!
lydanial posted a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
ok as some of you are aware i am a relative newbie here so i wont go blurting out that i need the radio code.... actually i dont need the code but on my mission to try and find the fault today with my stereo system i have took the stereo out of its holding (thanks for the coat hanger tip whoever posted it). anyway as i now have access to the serial number etc (i havent slid it all the way back in yet)does anyone think it would be a good idea to make a note of it and then get one of the nice helpful guys here to help me find the code... for future reference?? i suggest this as i havent got any books etc except for the service record!! so figure it may be a good idea to make a note of the code in the front or back of that. thanks -
holy muppets... cant believe this i hadnt looked at this but i went and bought the exact same speakers today to replace my rear door speakers after the pasenger side one took a dive!!!

Speaker Covers / Door Cards
lydanial replied to lydanial's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
ok heres the news, it was the larger rear passenger side speaker that had gone pop.. anyway it gave me a good excuse to upgrade them so i popped in a nice new set of sonys. thanks.. ps you dont have to yank off the door cards, after you have removed all the plasticcy bits then all you do is hit the door card at the bottom and in slides up and off, no damaged clips for me!! -
Speaker Covers / Door Cards
lydanial replied to lydanial's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
i have narrowed down the speaker problem to one of the back speakers on the passenger side or as mentioned it could be in the last door rubber then... going to check that now. stress stress stress!!! -
please please please can you let me know how much your MPG changes by, driving around town and on the motorway please? :10: ALso, how much are you paying to get it remaped? remap is

how the hell do i get the speaker covers and door cards off?? i have a problem with the hole left side of the car audio system. i have checked the stereo with a diferent speaker and all is well. so i checked the rubber tubes between the doors to see if they are perished or damaged and again they look fine. all i can think of now is that one of the speaker wires is rubbing the body work or something but i cant get to them to save my life. also the passenger front window switch is dicky so i am trying to check that out too... i just cant work out how to get to anything under these covers or cards... HELP PLEASE!!!

try these , this is the 115bhp http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecommerce/Search_Results.asp also another thing... when people mentioned travelling to the fraud dealershi* to get a new maf sensor did anyone consider pricing one up at seat and vw?? or is it a consistent robbing among main dealers?

LMFAO.. yep crowded... when i need to go fast now i just take out my bike but you should see me squeezing the kids onto that.. we look like the blue angels!

can anyone give me some stats of a good running 115tdi manual? 0-60? 50-70 in 5th/6th? something to compare my car to.. obviously this thing always feels like a slug to me as i only sold my impreza last week to get this bus!

took a long trip this weekend 130 miles up the motorway, average speed about 55, cruise control set to about 75 and could only get about 40 mpg avg.. is this about right?? (sorry 115 tdi ghia manual 6 speed) anyway of increasing this?? ok 1 more thing, what are these pd tuning boxes i read about all over,, and have seen on flea-bay!!

i have just filled my galaxy tdi today and i will admit i really crammed it in.. my question is does the galaxy have an overflow and where does it leak from if it does? below the fuel tank there is a metal bracket and a small hole in it and it seems to be coming out of there, its only a drip.... every half hour or so which makes me point more to it being a leakthan an overflow, it isjust that i have never noticed a wet patch umnder the car before. thanks

New Galaxy Owner Few Minor Problems..
lydanial replied to lydanial's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
1. Whatever you fix, something else will break 2. Nothing will be 100% correct or functional all at the same time. 3. The dealers love em for the repair bills 4. You can fix most things yourself for peanuts 5. Its easy to fix (mostly) 6. You will wonder how you coped with a normal boot 7. Whilst bits break, fall off or just don't work, there will never be enough wrong with it to justify selling it. 8. It will probably outlive you. lol, dont get me wrong i've only had it about a week but love it already, ok so i had to sell my beloved subaru impreza to buy it but... 1,the misses let me buy a nice new motorbike for my need for spped to compensate.. 2,kids all fit in nicely now, plus theres room for a dog. 3,cruise control is great on a long run.. 4,when the parking sensors work they are a god send when the wife is driving.. and me i guess as i cant see the end of the bonnet... 5,room to take all the kids out and the mother in law... hmm maybe not a good one after all!! 6,its a van! 7,its definately more economical than an impreza!! 8, its faster than my brothers zafira diesel :-) 9, gonna get a very long way on one tank of diesel... mind you its a BIG tank!! i was looking on ebay for an owners manual and a haynes, but can only find haynes upto year 2000 , have they made one for the mark2? thanks again.. ps glad you could answer a few questions for me.. tried looking at parking sensors tonight before it got dark but couldnt find a faulty one so i jumped into the car and started it up and it works now  however i do recal some very heavy rain today and the wife did drive through a whopping great puddle that actually sprayed up and soaked the entire winscreen and most of one side of the car.. i will see if it continues working without fault but if not i will go and get checking.
