Glow Plug Warming Times

but the passenger door courtesy light may set them off too :38: now how about we enter through any door, deadlock the doors to disarm the volume alarm (2 presses on the remote) suspend a hammock between the A and D pillars kip the night in the car and then in the morning reach down insert the key and then time how long the light stays on. And if it was a mild night we repeat the experiment until we freeze our n*ts off :16: :23: :23: :38: but is says drivers door courtesy light switch -

taken from a technical article The glow plugs are controlled by the PCM and their operation depends on engine coolant temperature and engine speed. At temperatures below 9 -

Glow Plug Warming Times
sanjsanj replied to sanjsanj's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hmm... i can believe this for my friends S-class 2003(cdi): its got that keyless entry/start thingy, so all he does is press the break and little switch on the gear knob and it starts straight away- just like starting a petrol. But his car's newer than my T reg...i dont think this kinda technology wud have been used for fords around then: J clarkson:"if u wanna know whats gunna be standard on your ford 10 years down the line, then this is the car to look at- the merc s-class" According to him, it should be on fords in around 2013! Anyone have an MK1? I would really like to compare the glow plug times to an mk1 for reasurance...I think the MK2 diesel engines aren't the same, Nikpv thanks anyway! -
I've only had the galaxy for a week now....it my second diesel (first one was a J reg so i can't rele compare my problem to that..) Urm, when i turn the ignition to the last position before the starter motor turns, all the dashboard lights (abs, airbag, fuel, handbrake "on" lights) switch on- which is normal... the glow plug warning lamp also switches on but it goes out pretty quickly i.e around 1-2 seconds. Is this normal? because if you read this: http://www.boschautoparts.co.uk/pcGlow1.asp?c=2&d=1 you'll notice that they reach around 850 degrees C....surely it cant heat up that quick unless something's rong with it? mk1 t reg gal, Ghia Auto, TD

So will the Sony be powerful enough to power the 10 speakers? Also, I've read somewhere on this site (ages ago) on how to remove the stereo but i dont know what to search for to find it again. Can you please point me in the right direction or tell me what to do with the coat hanger? Thanks! P.S i have and still am trying to search for it; what other people have talked about is sooo amazing that i just have to read it before i move on... -

so i guess i'll have to swap the ford stereo AND the ford amplifier 4 the sony stereo and sony amplifier...right? urm, can you suggest what to search for to find the relevent section on how to make tool/ release stereo? i guess its too hard to fit it in the lidded storage bin because the car hasn't got any original holes or wires in it....i haven't had a proper look at the space under the drivers seat of the ford (t reg) but would anyone know if its as big as Vw' sharan (p reg)? -

it does have cooling fins but it doesn't seem to be attached to anything... while we're on the topic of amps, I was thinking of switching the standard ford RDS2007 with the VW upgraded version- a Sony..... Now in my mecedes, you simply pull the radio out, it slides out with reletively little force ,and its just a case of pulling the wires out. It doesn't seem to be the case in both the ford or the Vw (also mk1) how ever much force u apply, you're not gunna get it out. what can i do? heres another problem to make a right kerfufle of things: the sony comes with a 6disc cd....I'd like to fit this in my ford....the VW (96) has the multichanger fitted under the drivers seat. in the ford, the space under the drivers seat isn't there any more. now what do I do? another kerfufle: will the ford's amp work with the sony stereo? -
hey guys! I asked someone to fix my ciggy lighter (for satnav, not for those things that cause BLINDNESS! lol)... When i got the car back, it struck me that I coud have easily pulled out that small black box underneath the radio and checked the connection....neway it was too late to fix by myself but i still pulled it out (curious) Under that a saw a silver enclosed kinda box, similar in size to the black thing I had just pulled out. Any ideas on what it might be? it has a small ford sticker on it I can get a picture if u want...

Windscreen Wiper Stalk Controls
sanjsanj replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've heard that this is the first sign (they won't switch off) that there is water in the wiper motor.... anyone wanna back me up/correct me? -
I've heard that it is invalidating my insurance (which is why im swaping the tyres) but also, the ford handbook doesn't say anything about reinforced tyres.... thw VW book says reinforced tyres for 195, 205 but not for 215??"!
-
As i've just bought a galaxy and am now selling my sharan, i was thinking of swaping the tyres around as the sharan ones are almost new.... heres the prob: Sharan is fitted with 215/60/R15 Extra Load Gal is fitted with 205/60/R15 Two are extra load and two aren't. Will I be able to swap the tyres around? (keep the rim the same)

mumof4: my car's only a T plate: 99....... it might be different for you. I'll ask halfrauds what battery i would need for your car...within a weeks time
-
I was thinking about swaping my 96 P 2.8 sharan's battery (relatively new) with my 99T mkI galaxy battery (just bought the galaxy and going to sell the sharan  ) - but then i read the above messages so i decided to call halfrauds+ read handbook.... The ford's handbook didn't mention anything about specific battery types.... Halfrauds: First of all they said that the silver/calcium battery was infact a lead/acid battery with calcium coated plates and just lasted longer..... 2) I asked him about swaping a sharan battery for a galaxy's one and he said you can have any battery type you like so long as the power rating is not lower than it should be.... So if I do go ahead with the swap, my gal will have a higher power battery but my sharan will have a lower power battery- WILL this make any difference to the sharan? I mean it will start right? will there be any obvious difference? :46:

urm, i tried to pull out fuse number 7, as the handbook said that was for the cig lighter, but couldn't pull it out- the're too close together for me to get a good enuf grip.... which car have u got? any idea which fuse number you changed?
-
urm sorry about this but whats an ICE shop? Does a sony CD changer need three wires going to it? one for power, one for the sound and one to control which track/cd to play....any idea? Mr Poisson: so can i pull out the relays? will it show any sign of damage (i.e will it be obvious thats its blown)?
-
hey there. I was just wondering whether anyone knew what relay was for what.... 96 sharan, 2.8 Auto: The cruise control and electric mirrors dont work, but the fuse- (number 14, 15amp) looks ok. Any ideas on the relevent relay? I can get a picture if you want. (it also says the same fuse (number 14) is responsible for reversing lights; electric outside mirrors; Auto gearbox shift pattern; cruise control system; heated windscreen. 99 Galaxy 1.9tdi: Cigarette lighter has stopped working (both power supplys in the back still work) checked the fuse (number 7 i think, yellow, 20 amp) looks fine and still replaced it but it still dont work  One other thing, the sharan (about to sell) has a SONY6 disc cd thingy. The galaxy has the standard ford stereo (2007 model) which says CD COMPATIBLE. I was wondering whether the ford's stereo would recognise the sony cd multichanger and how i would go about installing it. Any comments? Thanks for any help!

thanks for all the info but im afraid its not the right info....the quote above^ is something along the lines of my problem: when you operate the rear wiper, I can see water falling from around the left side of the underneath of the glovebox.....(as seen from the drivers seat) I'll get a picture as soon as it stops raining....
-
urm, when i operate my rear wiper (with water) , the water thats supposed to come out the back starts to drip in the passengers footwell. Any ideas of how to fix it? please post pictures if possible!

please can someone post a picture of where the fuse is? i'm very confused. Also, on my other car, Sharan, both cruise control and electric mirrors don't work....can someone please tell me where the fuse is because i've checked the one in the book and the fuse seems ok....
