well..its now on 280k files scanned....when my avg scans,,it does 87k!! ah, just finished no virus at 283k files on c drive. im still non the wiser!! :D hardly surprising - the cleanest pc ever :D we can probably start along the road to find out what the problem (see my post, glens and bd's earlier) but you will have be prepared to risk doing it - risk being you may lose internet access while you are doing it. Do you want to have a go :D Lose my internet connection??? :D But i do need to find out what is going on AVG and AVAST have picked up nothing.

Right my avast anti virus is still scanning so far it is on 212k files and still going!!!!!! i know more about cars than i do about my pc!!!!! so i am clueless. ill try and decipher all that you have said..... Bigd..i dont have any floppies. I have a HP Pavillion 722 with 40gb hard drive-256mb ram-1.8 ghz it is now on 230k..and it is only scanning my c drive. i dont have that much on it!!

i did put the error message!!!!! KERNEL-DATA-INPAGE-ERROR usually get an error number like 0x0000ce after it though there was.....but there were loads of them..at the bottom of the screen..that error was at the top...i dint have chance to write them down before the screen went black after a final click from the tower

You should have a little thingy to pull out the fuses...mine is orange..almost looks like a small pair of tweeze rs!!
