Ahh..melting main fuse feed box...had that twice on my car.Second time it blew the alternator. Main fuse feed boxes are about 21 quid IIRC.It is best to replace the cable at the same time.As i didnt the first time it went and then it went poof not long after. El Dingo has had the same problem aswell. It could have been a bad/loose connection...or it could have been a speck of dirt on the connections.Must make sure that they are clean when you refit new box.

Maybe Fords may improve on the new MKIII and bring out a MK4 with all the little niggles erased and dealt with.I still don't like the look of the MKIII though It sounds like they still cant rid of the little niggles that the Galaxy has no matter what shape it is...Maybe in time they might get it right and build a Galaxy that is perfect!!. What i like......i like being able to take the seats out, so quick and easy to do takes me about 5 mins to get them all out, and the same to put them back in.I like the height and i like the overal shape.Really roomy inside. When i looked at a MKIII, there didnt seem to be the same amount of room, yes it is longer and it is shorter.I really did not like the interior of the MKIII,too squared for me.I like the curves of the MKII.But it is the back seats that really put me off. They are awful.Look too flimsy and i think the backs of the seats could be improved upon if they built a MK4 with seats that sunk into the floor.Even though it is an MPV, i dont think even with the amount of room in it, that it is kiddie friendly, what i mean. is kids that are messy and like to kick seats and drop crap on the floor.I like taking my seats out so that i can give it a good clean inside without having to open all doors or climb over seats.

mumof4 replied to twinkle's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
thats ok, but 2 things stop me. Cant afford the 8 grand price tag, and 2 i dont like the overall look of the mk2 galaxy, im looking at taking the good bits of the mk2 and putting them in the nicer looking mk1. .basically from the list you first put up it sounds to me like you are trying to make a MKI look like a MKII!!..you want the front of your MKI looking like the front of a MKII.....???..so how can you say you dont like the look of the MKII??? -
Mk2 Galaxy Parts Onto A Mk1 Galaxy
mumof4 replied to twinkle's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
first off, the two MKs are different shapes.Different door cards, different bumpers, different lights etc.....Do what you like to it.We will help where we can. Get no help on your own site i take it?. If you want to be different then go ahead....but look at the two different galaxys then decide for yourself if you think it will fit from one to the other. -

Agree with Bleeno here, may as well just get a MKII.As no matter what you do with it...will still be a MKI. -

Hi moggy, the old glass was shattered and was electric and heated. If id have put new on top of old it wouldnt have stayed put for very long nor would it be heated.Least this way by spending 20 quid i know it works as it should do.plus im impatient and wanted it as soon as and i dont know the area that well having just moved here.

car tax depends on when it was registered not just bought.also the emissions.
-
Didnt realise i had to center it.oh well..it works which is main thing, if i get chance will have a gander over the weekend. Thanks for that info.

Done.Just a couple of points to make when changing the glass.I found the trickiest bit was getting the caseing off being careful not to break or crack it (there are no screws holding it on its all clips so be carefull not to break them.).I eased it carefully with a flat screwdriver. When you have the caseing off, there are 4 screws, you dont have to take these out but i did to give myself a bit more room to push the old glass off through the back of the housing. You have to take the two wires off and reconnect them to the new glass. There is no need to take the whole housing off if just replaceing the glass. Then just carefully clip the new mirror back on and reassemble!!.took me less than 10 mins from start to finish and most of that was getting the outer back caseing off. Now, ive found that i do still have a problem, the new mirror will move in all directions, but it wont move down as far as the other one.....i.e. i can get the passenger one to look at the floor whereas the drivers side one wont. Not a major problem, but just one for the future to have a gander at, Also the whole thing still moves more than it should if you waggle it. The glass itself has the heating elements on it.I'm glad i paid more for a proper one rather than just stuck a sticky one on it. Job done! Thanks for all the help peeps.

mez2, well done for not getting a Zaffy and getting a Bamma instead. :P , our resident Zaffy boy just saw the light and got rid of his. :) Be sure to read the AUPs and the trainee guidelines if you get stuck when you try to post somewhere and cant. Most of all, enjoy your stay with us. :D
