my booster heater works fine since cleaning the glowplug and doesn't smoke at all any more. One thing I have found is that if I start the car and leave in running, the heater will come on then turn off after a few minutes if I don't drive the car. As soon as you drive it fires up again. BRAD, try checking the wires to the heater fuel pump, on my old gal thay had coroded off.

my mk2 2002 alhambra has 2 power points in the back, also has ashtrays in rear doors for kids to fill with sticky sweets. It also has the sorage areas under the front seats which I had on the mk1 galaxy.

mine smoked for about three days after cleaning the heater and glowplug. I didn't replace the glowplug, just cleaned up the heavy carbon deposits on it. and Its working ok for the last 8 weeks.

I know this is an old thread, but, has anyone done any more stuff with reprogrammimg modules on there car to unlock other features?? I tried the one to get the seatbelt warning lamp but it doesn't work.

Does anyone know if the cars computer lets you know if one of your front sidelights is out?? I noticed one was out today and thought it was strange that it hadn't come up on the screen.

Does anyone know if the seats in my car should rotate?? there is only one handle on the side of the front seats for height adjustment. I thought that as it had heated front seats maybe they couldn't rotate but I have seen a few cars the same that do?

I think the clicking you hear is the starter solenoid, not relays. Also there is no fuse to the starter positive terminal as it draws alot of amps and would probably blow alot. hence the heavy duty lead. If you take off the caps on the camshaft you should be able to tell if they have been running dry. Have you tried turning the engine over with the alternator drive belt off just to make sure the alternator isn't seized?

The Beru glowplug in mine is marked as 8v so I didn't want to try it at 12v. It did start to heat up with a 6v batt. I have took my heater off for now so I can try to fix it, I have use a 1" pipe connector to attatch the coolant pipes together and blanked off the fuel. Does anyone have the pin no.s and colours of wires for the connector so I can find out what each one does.

Mine doesn't seem to be any different at different temperatures. but like yours it seems to slip them snatch into gear. If I put it into tiptronic mode it snatches into gear straight away, making me think its something else. I really haven't had time to try anything yet though like disconnecting maf or battery. If I put it in tip mode then drive hard, 4000rpm in first, change to second then same again into third it bites the gear straight away without slipping, I would have thought this would be the time when its most likely to slip. I find it slips mostly below 2500 rpm and It seems to do it all the time in second and most of the time in third.

Thanks for the help with this, I have just come back from the scottish highlands after a week and 1400 miles. The car has coped fine the whole time but still slips(i think) in 2 & 3. I will try disconnecting the maf, but not sure if theres anything wrong as I've averaged 40 mpg on the journey. I remember reading somewhere about disconnecting the battery too, not sure where though but I might give that a try also.

I thought recently that the auto box in my car was slipping, in second gear it revs but the engine and gearbox don't seem to lock up also it does it in third sometimes. It does drive ok and pulls ok. If while its doing this i push it into tiptronic it bites the gear and goes fine, I thought maybe it does this in auto for a smoother ride???

I know this is an old one but, I now have a mk2, and still have the same problem. the rear seats catch the front seats when folded forwards and get jammed on the backrest release handle. It even show in the handbook that it can be done, I must be doing something wrong?? I have the middle row all the way forward and rear row all the way back.

had this same problem on my mk4 golf. Drivers window would hit the top and then come down about 3 inches, took it to 2 different VW dealers. none of them fixed it, but it did sometimes go for up to a month before doing it again.
