Hi Everyone, I've found a 2003 (03) 2.0 TDCi 130 Ghia for sale for

It's the off side. I've had numerous problems with wires breaking. Supply wire is black/green, I know as mine is broken at the moment
-
Thanks Guys, So my broken black-green is the supply. What I can't understand is where the other broken end of the wire is?? Maybe I'll just take it to a garage.

Hi Galaxy experts, My rear wiper on my Mk1 2000 V reg TDi stopped working. I suspected a broken wire in the rubber trunking between the rear door (top right) and the body. There was a broken green and black wire coming from the door that ended in black electrical tape and inside there was evidence of a soldering job. Strangely there was no evidence of the other end of this wire leading back into the body?! Can anyone confirm that this is the wire from the wiper motor in the rear door? Thanks.

Thanks bj2004, Great, that's something even I can test out. :o

Do the mk III Galaxies have electrical/wiring problems too?
-
Hi bj2004, Do you mean find the door that doesn't switch the lights on and that one might have the faulty door switch or broken cable. We've had wire problems on every door since we've had this car, looks like whoever wired it up was incompetent. :o Max

Hi Biscuit and thanks for your reply. So is that a simple fix, pull out the old one and plug in a new one? Or is there a bit more to it? I know nothing about electrics! Max

Hello, I have a 2000 V reg 110bhp TDi Galaxy. All of the interior lights from the front one back to the boot have started to stay on once the doors have been opened and the engine started. They go out after about 10 min. All the other electrics are working normally. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I'd like to go to the Fraud dealer with some knowledge of this, so I don't appear like one more ignorant punter that can be exploited. Thanks for any help. Max

mines a mk I TDi and it is the fan (I watched it spinning and stop). Thanks naim32 for the advice if I can't do this myself before it goes into the local Ford dealer (already booked in) at least I can suggest they check this first rather than go in like a sheep to the slaughter. Thanks for again for the advice.

Hi, My Gal has developed another problem(?) Even on a short run of 1-2 miles on a cold morning the radiator fan has started to keep running when the ignition is switched off, we can hear it running as we leave the car. It never used to do this. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks. Max

Well I got the rear wiper arm off eventually thanks to your help! Now we have another problem, it seems to be one after another. The heater blower (front) doesn't work on the "1" or "2" positions, but works on "3" and "4". This is really irritating, as speed setting 3 is quite loud and if I turn the fan off the car gets hot and stuffy in seconds. The air con works as does the air re-circulation. Any ideas what is the fault? Thanks Max

Thanks for your replies and the health and safety advice! I might try tonight, rain permitting of course.

Hi Does anyone know how to remove the arm (I don't mean the blade) of the rear wiper? I need to replace the plastic cover that conceals the gap where the wiper spindle comes through from the motor on the inside. I flipped back the black cover to reveal a nut and washer which I removed, but the arm does not lift off. Does it screw onto the spindle? I tried turning the arm anti-clockwise to unscrew it, but it won't budge and I don't want to use excessive force in case it will damage the arm or spindle. Any help much appreciated. Thanks Max.

Central Locking Problem, I Think
bushm replied to twinkle's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
I had a similar problem with mine although I had a Cobra remote unit fitted and it only affected the drivers door which would lock but not unlock. The key didn't work at all. Ford dealer said it needed a new locking mechanism after having the car in all day to diagnose the fault, so I booked it for the next week as they didn't have the part. Got a phone call at lunchtime, oh sorry we need the lock motor not the lock mechanism. I booked the car in the next week as they didn't have this part either. Turned up at 5pm to collect car and they had only just finished the job, well to tell the truth they had to call in an expert on cobra units who eventually found a broken wire!!! And all that cost me 99 quid. How can so-called experts diagnose the fault incorrectly twice and then not be able to find a broken wire?? -
I thought I'd won my battle with the central locking but now the drivers door will not unlock remotely, although it locks remotely. And if I turn the key in the drivers door the global closing does not work, but I can at least unlock the drivers door this way. I checked the wires coming into the door but I couldn't see any that were broken although there is one with cracked insulation (wires OK). Sounds like this one is not a DIY job. Any suggestions apart from sell the galaxy, which is what I'm beginning to consider. Thanks.

Well the rain finally stopped and I followed your instructions and fixed the job in 15 mins. I simply soldered a new bit of wire onto the end of the existing wire (that was really too short) and then soldered the other end of the new wire into the hole where the connector was. I couldn't get the connector out of the plastic block so I just dumped some solder ontop of the connecter and held the new wire in place until it set. I don't think any pictures are needed above and beyond yours. An expensive garage job made easy!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again.

Brilliant Thanks NikpV. I just need to wait for some dry weather and I'll have a go. The wife will be well impressed, because I told her to go into the local garage on Friday and they said "Ooh electrics, that's expensive,

Hi You may remember I had problems with broken tailgate wires a few months ago. I fixed them, now the rear passenger door fails to lock automatically. I suspected it might be a damage wire, so I pulled off the rubber sleeve and found a blue/green wire hanging loose. It has pulled out of the black plastic connector block that fits on the pillar where the door hinges. I know which position the wire connects to and if I hold the wire in that position the door locking works. My problem is how to fix the wire back. I can solder a new length of wire onto the existing piece (got to do this as it only just stretches to the connector block when the door is wide open: I don't know how it lasted so long) but how do I then fix the end of this into the connector. Should I take the entire block out of the door pillar (how ?) or will the connector pull out of the block? What sort of connector is used? I thought about soldering the new wire back but theres not much room and I might melt some plastic. If you need a picture I've got one but don't know how to post it here. Any help welcomed. Thanks.

Beeping Sound In The Morning
bushm replied to bushm's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The final page in the last chapter. Drove in to the city on Saturday morning and had problem starting the Galaxy. On way home popped into Wilco Fast Fit and had them check the battery. It failed on the starting load test. New one fitted for -

I thought I should conclude the story even though it's not very iteresting. Beeping sound has now stopped and the mornings are now warmer. Wife wouldn't take the car to the garage, so I eventually did. Battery OK. Can only guess the beeping was a cold weather warning as suggested by the VW dealer. -

Re Matt Beeping Sound In The Morning...its the alarm clock lol Our newest alarm clock wakes us up by jumping on our bed and saying "I'm HUNGREE" I suggested my wife gets the battery checked in the local garage just around the corner from the local school where she drops the older kids off, but she has yet to follow this advice. I guess when the car won't start one morning because the battery is dead, I'll be asked why I didn't get it fixed. -
Beeping Sound In The Morning
bushm replied to bushm's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I phoned my local Ford dealer to ask their advice about the beeping noise but they had never come across it, so I tried the VW dealer, they could only suggest it was a warning that the exterior temperature was cold and possibly icy. I explained our car is always garaged overnight and the beeping only occurs in the morning and not if it's been left out in the cold, "dunno" was the reply. So it's good to know that 2 of the worlds biggest car manufacturers show such an indepth knowledge of their products, I'd feel confident that they would do a good job servicing the Galaxy if I could ever afford to let them do it. -
