  1. I was away for a while Maz, did you break it again ?
  2. It does sound like an immobiliser fault....however I would first check the operation of the brake pedal switches, easy to do although my money would still be on the immobiliser.
  3. Early March was she ( about 9 months after your birthday <_< ).
  4. Nothing to do with the glow plugs, the engine will still start without them it just won't be happy about it. If the engine isn't turning over your looking at electrical, most likely the ignition relay or switch.
  5. He only joined on the 29th Jan last year....
  6. Flashing brake light ? Anyone got any ideas on this as it is a lot more to worry about than the loss of ABS !
  7. Rain.........bring it on ! Saves me washing the car.
  8. The engine is still warm, the temp gauge doesn't start to move until about 70 degrees (probably more than that) as soon as you drive away it will increase rapidly to 90 degrees. The gauge is only a rough guide between about 70 to 110 degrees. Also the booster heater will not work when the water temperature is above 70 degrees ( or 75 degrees, somewhere around there ) regardless of the outside temperature. You should be bloody grateful you've got a working booster heating, my old gals f f f f freezing.
  9. 140,000 miles is nothing, should be good for half that again on the engine and twice that on the box. The only realistic engine change would be for another 2.0l petrol. It would be much cheaper to replace the vehicle than to go down the diesel route. If you are unhappy with it sell it and buy another it works out cheaper.
  10. I am sure that winter tyres are compulsory in the best part of Europe and the legality of the use of summer tyres is a matter of debate in the uk. The use of summer tyres could also have legal implications in the event of an accident.....its a grey area at the moment. The basic rules are: Winter tyres are great in the wet and good on a dry road. Allweather tyres are fairly good in the wet and good on a dry road. Summer tyres are absolutely brilliant on a dry road and absolutely lethal on a wet road. As mentioned by others whatever type you have they must be reinforced/extra load unless you want your sidewalls to go pop when going around a bend.
  11. Are you sure its not just the fuse. Is this your fuse layout... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=14257
  12. It seems very unlikely that a minor bumper collision would have had any affect on the booster heater it is much more likely to be coincidental with a sudden drop in temperature.
  13. Yeh well from the rumours going around this is all you can get up....
  14. This sounds awfully like a serious ( ie Knackered ) engine problem. I would get this checked asap.
  15. and how likely is that !!!!!http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/style_emoticons/default/16.gif   Yeh go on all have a go at me ! For all you know I could have been dying !
  16. I must have an older model mine is 5ft 9"
  17. I've heard about your parties...sexy pants !
  18. So quite here without BigKev, is he lying somewhere drunk enjoying this festive period??? Cheeky Bugger ! Crap the new year was starting to look good and you had to go and ruin it! hopefully he opened his mouth to often and someone took offence to it? well we all live in hope? Who me, as if...glad someone missed me. Where is BigKev? Caribbean holiday, most likely... ;) I bloody wish, I've been busy.
  19. A child seat will fit quite happily in the middle position. However if you are just using the built in baby seat then it will be perfectly safe. However if you are looking to use the booster cushion the you will have an issue with no seat belt fixing being available. There is a conversion available which allows a 3-point seat belt to be used with the middle seat ( the one I can remember has a mounting point fitted into the floor behind the seat, there may be others ). It may be possible to convert an integral child seat to a centre seat lap belt ( I think they only originally came in left and right versions ), however you may just as well go for the 3-point conversion. Try here for more info. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=4795
  20. A 61Ah battery is far too small for a Tdi it should be around 88Ah as a minimum. The fact it is a Ghia X will make matters worse. The VW spec is actually 95Ah. Complain to the garage as they have fitted too small a battery ( probably cheaper for them).
  21. If in any doubt go for the synthetic especially with a petrol engine.
  22. That's a bit of a hike from staffs isn't it ?
  23. The mind boggles .........!
  24. Eh! No good for an auto then ?
