the light is activated by adding 08 to the software coding on Module 9 Central Electronics using VAG-COM. Bigdaddy - I think the software needs to be registered in order to recode modules. The electronics sense the additional load created by the extra indicator bulbs thus triggering the towing light I am glad i can get rid of that damned buzzer though:)

Views Needed On A Picasso As A Replacement.
dave_m replied to greg_68's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I love my galaxy but i do find myself worrying about what's going to go wrong next with it I think whatever car you get these days you will experience problems with..... They are built as cheaply as possible using inferior quality materials/parts. Why would they want to sell you a car that is not going to go wrong, after all they need to sell spare parts don't they :D -
Can anyone clarify whether the Audible beep is a legal requirement? I have enabled the Towing Warning Lamp on the Instrument Cluster and was wondering if this is sufficient in the eyes of the law and i can disconnect the annoying bleeper!!

I have an AL-KO stabiliser which is part of the Hitch itself, It is excellent and the difference is very noticeable.

Heater Unit Controls Interchangeable ?
dave_m replied to mumble_bee's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
the heating/AC system is electronic and the flaps to control temp and where the air comes out are controlled by electric motors not by cables, however the CC system has different components and wiring so i am sure the digital controls won't simply swap over. -
my throttle position sensor (pedal) went recently and it did not go into limp home mode, The revs would just drop to 1100 rpm and the pedal would do nothing whatsoever, The problem described sounds like loss of vacuum to me I had a similar problem which turned out to be a loose connection on the vacuum reservoir (the ball shaped thing on the front of the engine). If you can get the fault codes checked if P1556-Charge Pressure Contr. Negative Deviation is present it is certainly a vacuum loss or a fault with the solenoid itself

what annoys me is the people who are so worried about getting caught or are so stupid they don't know the speed limits on a certain type of road that they sit at 30 in a 60mph zone, this causes the impatient drivers behind to carry out unneccessary and dangerous overtaking. Also those people who cruise along at 50-55 mph in a 60 zone and then when they see a camera slam on the anchors down to 30mph. I also heard a story on the radio the other day about a certain single camera's revenue in roadworks (on the m62 i think) has hit a million pounds :D

VAG-COM goes everywhere my car goes, Never know when you might need it :D

Loss Of Power And Vag-com
dave_m replied to andyw2307's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
does sound like an air leak of some kind, Check all the pipework air filter box onwards! -
the latest version is 512.4 :D The unregistered version is fine if all you want to do is read and clear codes :D :D

 Bigjeeze I have used it on a few members cars as well and earn't myself a bit of beer money, Plus the Turbo Vacuum fault i had, The fault on my aux heater all repaired using the help of VAG-COM. Plus it works on all OBD2 Compliant Cars to read and clear DTC's so it is worth the money  B) B)

I got the genuine Ross-Tech cable and this actually registers the software as well enabling all of its functions. The Cheaper Ebay leads do not register the software and many of VAG COMS features are locked, and as already mentioned will only work on the older versions of VAG-COM, Also they may not contain the same level of electronic protection to protect both your PC and the Cars ECU and certainly won't be of the same quality The genuine lead although about

they are naff them keys, Mine broke in exactly the same way, one of the pins bent, I had to force a smaller socket onto the rest of the bolts using a big club hammer and undo them (which was a nightmare) and replaced them with normal bolts. I do think the locking wheel nuts and keys have different layouts of pins, maybe someone can confirm this, from a security point of view it would be a bit naff if all the bolts/keys were the same!
-
so is it a Locking Wheel nut key you need then???
-
there are some idiots about who flout the rules, its these ones you see in a thousand bits on the motorway! which gives the rest of us caravanners a bad name
-
i think there are several variations of the same type of locking nut, so your key may not fit another locking nut, make sure the locking nuts are not done up too tight, otherwise they damage really easily

Smoke Through Dash Vents....help ?
dave_m replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
was it a strong horrible smell, unlike normal smoke Could be the clutch??? especially as you were towing -
in my opinion, yes. It is much more comprehensive and images are clearer and more detailed and it is easier to understand

Got to agree with a lot of the posts here regarding speeding. I have seen a Child get run over, the car wasn't breaking any speed limit yet the child was still seriously injured. If you decide to break the speed limits in whatever circumstances then you have to pay the penalty, Don't moan if you get caught................. Better Still SLOW DOWN

shouldn't think you will get a ticket at 35mph But you'll have to wait and see. I have always noticed that my GPS, regardless of which GPS Antenna and Software always indicates a speed roughly 4mph less than my speedometer. Which is the accurate one? The GPS or the Speedo??

7M9 Is sharan. Six speed manual box iirc is FUX. On My ELSAWIN if Enter year and the above info it lets me in to the workshop manuals and the electrical flow diagrams. Certain bits such as technical solutions, you need an actual VIN for, so it can identify your exact model, build date etc I have been trying to get hold of a 2001 1.9 tdi VIN to use on mine!

ford, unhelpful?????, never :( I believe it is a problem with the glowplug not running hot enough, the smoke is caused by incomplete combustion of the diesel, i am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong! :D

the spare wheel carier can be overhauled, you have to drill out the rivets but its quite easy to do. i got the replacement steel cable from B&Q 51p a metre. Mine is as good as new now, luckily i had a puncture at home so had all my tools and was able to get the spare off.
-
because they use the airtools to do them up, They even do locking wheelnuts up with them which then are so tight that you break the wheelnut key when you try and undo them.
