I got a USB one, it works fine with my laptop (Dell D610) and version 409-1 of VAG-COM. Steven

You can't write stuff with the shareware version. But you can register it for $90/99 dollars and away you go. I also got a "cheap" lead off ebay, and it works like a charm! Steven

Cambelt Change (1998 Tdi 110)
Steven.Langdale replied to hampstead's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If you follow the Ford procedure to do it, the 1st thing is to disconnect the batter neg leads. Thats the procedure for loads of stuff. More of a safety thing really. It would look like they followed the correct procedure, or at least started too. :( Steven -
That looks like a connector for a light, is there a light in your glovebox? Is the hole it's coming out of an oval one?? Steven

vr6, u sure about that? The Air con on mine has been coming on during the winter (as long as its above 5deg) when I require heating, without the screen demist button being pressed. I can hear the compressor engage/dis-engage when stationary. Steven

Galaxy Ghia Heater Blower?
Steven.Langdale replied to Charliemuttley's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
F19 (30A yes???) feeds the low speed condenser fan relay in the engine compartment. That controls the cooling fan on the radiator. Dont think thats the one your after. Steven -

Galaxy Ghia Heater Blower?
Steven.Langdale replied to Charliemuttley's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
bit more info...... According to TIS, the front blower is on F34 (25A), and the rear blower is on F39 (25A). They BOTH go through the blower motor relay - K73. K73 is, according to TIS "under dash panel, passenger side". It will be somewhere near the motor, as the relay feeds it directly. After the motor, its the heater blower control unit, this is the bit that controls the speed, not a resistor pack as per the non cc models. I'm sure i did hear a while back that the heater blower control units could go on these, but I may be making this up.... Let us know how you get on. Steven -

Speed Control
Steven.Langdale replied to bigfoot2's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've got the same problem with mine - but it's intermittent  Fixed the knackerd vacume pipe - worked for ages, now this. One question for you (and everyone else). When you turn on the cc you hear a relay clicking, I'm assuming this is in the cc control unit and switches on the vacume pump. Is this correct??? When yours doesn't work, do you hear the click or not? when mine fails there is no click. According to TIS, BOTH the brake switches are in the cc circuit. You can discount the actual brake light switch if the lights are comming on as its exactly the same pins in use. Then the next one to check is the Clutch pedal switch (if you have one). After that its the other brake pedal switch, this is the one with the vacume pipe on it. If one of these is U/S then the cc unit will not get any power. Can anyone confirm where the cc control unit actually is? TIS states its right in the middle of the dash, and you have to get the lot out to get to it :) is this the case??? Steven -
Did they replace the switch or adjust it? Out of interest, can I ask how much this was? Thanks Steven from work and seen your reply. I'll have a good look at the pipes to see if there are any splits. I have just done a search on the subject and found the topic you started about brakes. Anyone got photos of these pipes and Vacuum pump. I see Masked Marauder suggested testing the Servo by pumping the brakes. My brakes are solid without pumping them up and do not change when I start the Galaxy. I just thought it odd that the brakes have gone like this after disconnecting the battery for a day and a half.

Flashing Preheat Lights
Steven.Langdale replied to big_kev's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I'll try and help here - but i'm not the best at reading the TIS wiring diagrams.... Which engine do you have? TIS has got details on 2 for the 1998-2000.5 range... For the 1.9 TDI Unit Injector Engine (would that be the PD????), the relay that feeds the stop solenoid is F32 (10A) in the Central Junction Box. For the stadard 1.9 TDi, it looks like the solenoid feeds straight out of the PCM. Someone please jump in if this is complete crap!! Have you tried disconnecting it and applying 12v to see if the engine fires? Steven -
Looking To Buy
Steven.Langdale replied to lazyb5's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I'd be inclined to get the cc checked out, the fault code can easily be read by a dealer or aircon man. As stated before, it could be something simple or something that could eat up your -
It's not the switch on the top, it's in the bottom. It actually monitors the position of the top switch. You need to take the top of the selector off (small hex grub screw on right i think) You then pull up the selector sleeve & the insert bit. It's been a while, but i hink u can get to the switch / connector from there. It sounds like youve not have this off before, therefore youve not adjusted the switch yet. Try that 1st. With the insert bit off the switch is to the left of the lever, you'll see a small screw on top of it with a blob of glue/paint to fix it. To adjust you turn the screw - but i cant remember which way! Give it a turn one way then the other to see if it makes it any better. Steven

The immobiliser "looks" OK. They tend to flash like mad when there is a key problem. I'd still be looking to the start inhibitor switch at the bottom of the auto selector. Try turning the ignition, and whilst it's still turned, give the selector a good waggle letf to right. failing that, I'd be inclined to short it out just to make sure it not that. The pins on the switch to short look like 1 and 4 OR The pins on the connector to short are 5 and 6 (both are red with black stripe) Good luck Steven

I doubt the teco box is the problem. I'm a little confised here, can you go over what th LED is doing? 1. When locked 2. When you put the key in the igintion and try and start. ALSO, is what it does different to before? Did the drivers door break at the same time, or has it been bust for a while? How did it break? Steven

2.3 Thermostat Missing, Which Way?
Steven.Langdale replied to hatter1999's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
When did the new stat arangement on th 2.3 come in???? Was it 98? On later models the stat is in the pipework, it's a metal cylinder with 3 pipes joining it. You cant miss it. check that. Steven -
Ian It's right on top of the throttle body. 2 small bolts and a multiplug. when you take it off you will see 2 small holes, TIS said to renew the seal on this, but if it looks ok..... Steven
