Another Auto Box Problem
bigdaddy replied to bigdaddy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It does not happen all the time just occasional, and yes only with an engine start up, selecting P at traffic lights or a traffic jam does not cause any problems as long as the engine is running and the brake light test thing on the dash do not go out when it happens, you could be very right about the brake switch cheers I will let you know how i get on -
Hi guys, A little hard to explain this one but here goes --- On the initial start up of the engine wether first thing in morning or night, after a long run or even after a short 10 min journey, sometimes when I press the brake to move from P to D it wont let me, normally the only way I can get it to move is to pump the brake pedal 5 to 10 times then the solinoid clicks and I can select gear, then every thing is fine until I turn engine off, then it may or may not start all over again, sometimes I get it once a day, or not at all or I might get it several times a day, it always happen with an engine start up. Hope you guys can help cheers

What you have said is basically what is happening The " slipping " happens only when I kick down, I tried manual changing when I went to work, from 2nd throw to 4th on the motorway slip road and the car was brill, very quick and no slipping.

Can I Fit A Double Din Unit Into A Mk1?
bigdaddy replied to a topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Dont buy from TG ONLINE they are over priced, search for i.c.e on your isp better deals are available -
have not fitted it yet, wee weeks holiday next week, so will do it then, just getting prepared, thanks for all your help

Ok I will try and word this so it is understandable :::::: at about 40mph when I kickdown from 4th to 3rd the revs seem to sit around 3000 to 3750 and the gal seems to take ages to move any faster, above 4000 revs the car seems to behave normally, if it had a clutch I would swear it was slipping, around about town i cant fault the gal, but I bought it to replace a tired 95 v6 espace and I need to tow a 14ft boat and four monsters (sorry, my darling loving children) I found a good boot up the slip road on to motorway the gal was quick, so now what, do I take it back to the non ford dealer and explain the problem and then leave the shop when he starts to laugh (auto box slipping lol) or take it to ford for a look and see what they say, time is important as I have only 20 days left

cheers again Velcrohead, mine was sticking out like a sore thumb, maybe this time I have found a car that will be easy to work with, and not like all the other knuckle bashers I have had, cheers

Hi guys, read in the introduction place about auto's slipping, I bought a 98 2.3 ghia x, 4 speed box I think : so smooth when changing gear I cant tell : any way, when i kickdown to 3rd it seems to take ages for the gal to speed up, I thought it was just bloody slow, but the thread I seen as given me new ideas, is the jacto box fitted to all gals, could it be lack of fluids (which I doubt due to smooth gear changes) I need the info asap as I have only 21 days left to complain, Thank You for any help given :D
