Vw dealers can no Longer obtain the pin codes. The Car needs to be pluged in at the dealers on there network, which will automatically send the code from head office without disclosing it to the dealer. Therefore your only option is to get it down to a dealer to re-code either Ford or VW.

Its not one of the cable linkages broken is it, you might not be getting any side to side movement only up and down on the selector.

Check you earths In the engine bay. Easy way to test is use a jump pack or jump leads and connect the (-)ve to any metal on the engine block its self and the (+) to the (+) terminal on the battery. If it then starts, one of you main earth leads ane broken. Worth a try to eliminate it.

Right the Aux heater is not faulty when it smokes ocasionally on start up. There is a Modification available for VWs fitted with the Aux heater. It consists of a new Exhaust pipe for the heater and few other mods. I will try and find the exact details. I know its a bit scary when clouds of smoke come out from under you car, but its still working fine. See if the Ford dealer knows anything about the mods.

Connectors are too short and I didnt want to go through the hassel of taking all the front end off, if the second fan comes on at a higher temp which it hasn't been met under normal operating conditions. :lol: there is not a lot of room on the VR6 to get the fans off.

Motor is just 4 bolts, recently swaped one myself. Tip: If you find the window goes the opposite way when you press a button then you have put the motor on 180 degrees in reverse.

The VR6 has 2 pumps. One electric and one mechanical.

The Sharan has two motorised fans, Ive only ever noticed one come on. Someone with a V6 must know if they both fire up at the same time?

My main concern is that Ive never seen the right fan run and if they both should come on together? The right one (drivers side) comes on fine with the A/C and cooling etc.

Mine are way out after replacing them with two new headlights. Anyone know of an easy way to get these re-alighned untill it goes in for an MOT. eg. what sort of pattern should they be shining on a wall?

I havnt had my Sharan Vr6 for long, but was wondering if any of you with MK1 V6's (VR6) could tell me at what temprature your electric cooling fans kick in and if they both come on at the same time. Mine only seems to kick in when the needle rises past the middle and onlt the righthand fan comes on. Do they both come on at the same time? If so I need to check my second fan. Thanks

VW do regulator repair kit that are just the cables and the clips. Not sure if they do one for the Sharan though.

There are a few problems with the Dual mass fly wheels on the newer Sharans. just something to keep in mind. :angry:

If its the imobiliser, the car will normally start and cut out after 2 sec. Are you sure the car was just not flooded, have seen in many times on mordern engines, especially if you onlt started and moved your car a few meters the night before etc.

You cant beat the sound of the VR6 :angry:

Just check your brake fluid level, on VW's this is connected up to this warning as well.

Try your local Partco, they supply the RAC and AA with these tools

Any one got any pics of the exact locatons of the drain holes, so we can clear this topic up for good?

My bonnet release cable broke and the cable completely pulled out. The problem is I cant work out the routing back to the handle. Where does the cable go back through the bulkhead? :lol:

With VW you need the pin code, the dealer number and the date the code was supplied. Entering all this information into the correct section will enable you to access the imobiliser. With out them your stuck, as the dealers can no longer supply or are supplied with codes and its all done Online while there computer is connected up to your car. Hope this helps.

You might have to get the light reset, but sometime after using the car for a while it resets itself as no fault can be found. Its all due to EU emission laws, so you might end up having to pay your local mechanic again to reset it. Hope this helps :lol:

This is usually the ERG valve and is noisey on some cars more than others. :D Its all totally normal and nothing to worry about.
