  1. Its possible that the main coil pack breaking down.
  2. Going to get the Idle checked out, Overall the car is a lot smoother. On the motorway you cant even here the engine just the road noise when its on LPG. Spooky :(
  3. Thought I would update you all on my LPG. Finally got round to having a loot at it, found a crushed feed pipe from the tank to the engine. which was restricting flow of LPG, replaced the pipe front to back. This totally solved the cutting out and hesitation. Its a great drive on LPG with a slight reduction in power and a slightly rougher Idle, but no major flaws. I though it was going to preform a lot worse on single point LPG personally....Well Happy  Just going to have the system re-inspected, then 45p/LTR hear I come. If any one has a manual or user guide for a Leonardo Millenium LPG system etc let me know and I will compansate you for a copy. Thanks.
  4. Just a thought, wouldnt it be a good Idea to pomote or rename this board to include Sharans and Alhambra as you currently run forums for more than one make. The more people we get on the board the more info and tech knowledge we get to share...
  5. The VR6 new 24V and old 12V engines, have very limited effects unless you want to spend a lot of money. Helping the engine breath better helps and a chip will help a little with the mid range but no drastic power increases 10-20bhp. There are Schrick manifolds available, that improve throttle responce and the mid range on the 12v engines and a 15bhp top end. The only real way is to go the Supercharging route with an instant 250 - 350 bhp, but at a high cost of
  6. Couldnt get any thing out of the second link, but it was a copy of the original manuals I was realy after. Thanks
  7. Has any one got a copy of the Lernardo LPG Instructions and installers guide as Ive lost both of my copies. If any one can help let me know I be hape to contribute towards scanning or copying etc. Thanks
  8. LPG is fitted to mine but single point only, so its a bit more tidy.
  9. Heres mine on a clean day  http://www.fxs.co.uk/webpics/Sharan/IMG_5035%20(Small).JPG
  10. All VW based Imobilisers (Petrol or Diesel) will alow the engine to start and then cut it after 3 seconds. Only the Auto gear inhibitor will stop the starter from turning. If you have access to a 5052 or Vag com this will confirm that the key is not authorised or the ECU has been disabled. Try a spare key if you have one first. To Unbolt the master cylinder did you have to get under the steering wheel or pedal area to remove anything. The imobiliser is fitted up under there with wires going off to the reader coil and ECU. Have a check around that area.
  11. 21 MPG overall average. Tdi's are for Economy and sensibility VR6's are for FUN & us with deep pockets (you just cant beat the sound of the 2.8)
  12. Have a look on your log book. The 1st 3 letters of the engine number on the log book will give you the engine code. Should be AAA on a r reg.
  13. From reacent news you might well of noticed petrol and diesel are highly explosive too..... Dont be put of by the scare stories as it can save you money in the long term. Just get it fully inspected and checked if your doing a DIY instalation.
  14. Dont get any Vibrations in 4th but it goes through a flat spot in the rev range at low rpm and takes time to accelerate if running slow in 4th. If you need accelerate a bit faster I just kickdown and watch my fuel gauge move to left a lot faster, but i get there a lot quicker than anyone else.
  15. My VR6 changes smoothly like butter between 3rd and 4th gears. Especially when using light throttle to gently Accelerate, you dont either notice the change.
  16. I had a leak aroumd the top of the windscreen that dripped out of the sunroof switches and bulge for the motor. Had it refitted and it was fine. :D
  17. Check the two large cartridge fuses in a small black box at the back right hand side of the engine bay. These are the Fan fuses as well as other aux items, 60A I think? If these are ok there could be a fault with your fan switch which is mounted on the right side of the rad. I recently had to change on of these on my VR6, as the fans were only comming on at high speed before slow. This causes a surge and blows the fuse. Hope that helps a bit.
  18. Possibly a problem with the Duel Mass flywheel if your engine has one fitted?. If the two halfs start to become loose, then this can cause a misfire at idel and ocassonaly under load. If this is left alone half of the flywheel eventually breaks loose and can catch fire while scrapping on the bell housing. .
  19. If you hear any strange rattles, just get them sorted ASAP before they become terminal. Its when you ignore the little warning signs and all of a sudden it goes bang
  20. 150K is common on VR6 without any major problems.
  21. Ive been getting some new insurance quotes and most of them want a Cat 2 Imobiliser fitted to my Sharan. I told them that it has a factroy fit Alarm/Imobiliser but the insurance companies say that these were fitted from 98 onwards. I have a VR6 Carat Sharan with the infared central locking on a 97 P plate. I was wondering if any one new if this model is classed as a factory fit Cat 2? I was peronally under the impression that this was classed as a Cat 2, might be wrong though. Thanks in advance
  22. Alternators are only increased in size due to the electrical loading of the car. EG if its goy Climat control heated front seats, heated front screen etc. I think my VR6 is fitted with a 150 amp alternator, probably because of the heated front screen.
  23. Common causes are stereos. alarms, phone kits and Sticking relays. Like said the best way is to connect up an ammeter and pull fuse untill you find out what is draining it. I would say 0.75A is a little high and you would expect no more than 0.5Amps. with the car locked up.
  24. Try these guy they have years of VW experience and take on work from all makes. They have serviced my VR6 Sharan / Golfs in the past. They are not to far from you probably a bit further out than you usually travel, about 3 miles from Jct 4 M4. If you ask they can also sometimes collect. Its worth the extra drive  STAY TUNED based in Iver 01753 655655
  25. It depend on what options you have fitted, to the size of the battery. Eg. Auto transmission/Heat front windscreen/Climatronic etc. I would always stick to the size of batterty that was orriginally fitted by the factory.
