Drivers Door Not Locking
wackojackouk replied to sparky123's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hi thanks for that, had a look how do you get the door panel off. cant see any screws I had this recently. Was the old frayed/broke wires problem. Paid someone to fix it but if you're any good with a soldering iron can do it yourself. Check out the FAQ's there's stuff there to help you :) -
Another Aux Heater Problem But....
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
That would be the one..... lol. Ok will try tomorrow now. Should I turn off the air con/heater etc or does this need to be on to get the run on pump (sorry if thats a daft question). Mine's done 53k so far but it could be that. Would it show up on vag.com as an error? Also is it a simple replacement and how much? (not sure about replacing the bushes thing tho) -
auto scan does not work on shareware version, you have to scan manually. Cheers guys :(

Another Aux Heater Problem But....
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Ah I wonder if that is the noise I hear when I turn the key but don't start . Like a short humming. Almost sounds like its sucking water (thats not really a good description tho). Don't think I can hear it constantly tho -
I think I can connect to Module 3 (will have to retry tomorrow) if I go into the individual ones but not if I do the autoscan option. Can anyone try it on there's and see if it's ok with auto scanning when they get chance? Also baud rate etc..... idiots version please (I do know a bit about computers but....) lol

Another Aux Heater Problem But....
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry if this sounds daft but I do hear a noise where the aux heater (roughly) but I thought that was the aux heater itself - like a whirring or jet (ish) noise. -

Not sure to be honest. What does it sound like. I know where you guys said it was but there is all the sound proofing there on my gal so not easy to see get it. -
Hi guys Got my Vag com lead and connected it up fearing no chance of it working but it did :( Anyway all connected up and selected Sharan as the car (I hope this was right....) Did the auto scan (I'm on COM4 btw) and module 1 and 2 were fine albeit it module 1 had an intermittant immobiliser start fault - although never had a problem starting her up (so far fingers x). Module 2 had no errors and then when doing Module 3 I got a pop saying Non registered / shareware version etc and bombed out. Is this normal? Did manage to connect to various others including no 18 aux heater which had a flame out error. I cleared the codes (hope this was the right thing to do) and so far neither have come back. Thoughts... WJUK

Hi guys Got myself a vag com lead and connected it up tonight. Really expected it not to work but hey presto it did. Did a scan but it kept bombing out at Module 3 saying it was a shareware version etc..... Anyway went into Module 18 and ran it. Came back with 5 things and I remember one being flame out so cleared codes. Shut down the program and turned car on and off and sat for a minute or so. Couldnt hear much so thought oh well never mind but turned car off and I heard the aux heater :D It did sound a bit louder than usual as in like an exhaust or if it was clearing some stuff out but sounded normal after about 20 seconds and then checked again and no fault codes reappearing.... so a bit happier now. Will keep eye on it but wonder why it got the repeated flame out if technically the motor and glow plugs were replaced. Cheers WJUK -

Hi guys First of all thanks to all of you for your help and advice since I've owned the Galaxy since November (especially Gregers for putting up with me :P) To cut a long story short I think I bought a lemon but the garage even tho 120 miles away sorted out the probs with the air conditioning, mirrors etc etc AND up untill now fixed the auxiliary heater but since the weekend I've been getting the excessive smoke again and need some advice before I go back to the dealer. I got the Galaxy back on the 7th December so just over two months ago and they told me that they fixed the booster. Quote "Smoking Auxillary Heater sorted new glow plugs and motor" However as stated above I'm now getting smoke after driving for about 5/10 minutes when stopped at lights. I pulled over on Saturday and could see it flowing out of the mini exhaust pipe. However 20 mins later nothing. I have however noticed that on a couple of occasions when temp under 5 degrees the motor is NOT coming on anymore when I believe it shoudl do (and has been recently due to the weather). Tonight just whizzed out to Tesco and thought I could hear the motor. Parked up and smoke galore but I could hear the motor running. So could someone tell me - if it's smoking is the motor working (I'm sure I can hear it) and if so what's generally wrong or what's causing the smoke - in layman's terms please.....:P I do have an additional warranty with Warranty2000 but it covers nothing to be honest and is pretty worthless - just wanted some more info or advice what to tell the dealer later in the week and pretty much PRAY he will do something. My thinking is along the lines of the parts he replaced (which I can say have failed) should surely have some sort of guarantee on them - shouldn't they? Thanks for reading WJUK ps - Other thing I just thought of that I remember - I heard a ticking noise coming from the bottom glove box area the other day when the booster heater was on. I had this when I first got the car but can't remember if it was prior to the original fix or not. Maybe something related?

Drivers Door Not Unlocking

Yeah once I saw what he did it looked a bit easier than I thought however I've never used a soldering iron before and he fixed about 8/9 wires so can't complain for his time. Also what with the crap weather and the fact my car is not in the garage at night due to building work (that was meant to be finished before Xmas :D ) got a bit more piece of mind (although hoping not to tempt fate). Did ring another place and they wanted -
Drivers Door Not Unlocking
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Hi guys Just a quick update. Had a auto sparky around today and he sorted the door (touch wood). Was a broken wire as suggested (red and white one I think) and a few of the others were frayed or the casing going so he sorted them. He also did the drivers back door (oooerr) and two wires were broken and 3 more frayed in there. Didn't get to look at the other side but everything working ok now. Only downer is -
I'm in South East and wouldn't mind any local type of meet ups.

Drivers Door Not Unlocking
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Thanks Gregers. That will be my first point of call although I will probably get an Auto Sparky to look at it as I tend to break things when I do stuff myself ;) One other thing I noticed and wonder if it is connected was that the red light on the drivers side rear door only works when the door is shut. I thought the bulb had gone but when I was in the boot this morning it was working. Opened the door and it wasn't. Passenger side works fine regardless. Anyone think it could be a wire in this door as well? Cheers for reading everyone and for your input. WJUK -
Drivers Door Not Unlocking
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Hi guys Just popped out to Tesco and couldn't get in the car without using the key to open the drivers door :) Anyway when got to Mr T's I tried using the buttons in the door arm to lock/unlock the car and only once out of three or four times did the drivers door lock when using the button to lock all doors :( Got out the car used remote and still didn't lock. Unlocked and then relocked and it was fine - :) Anyway just thought this info might help pinpoint whether it sounds like a WIRE problem OR a MOTOR problem. As asked above - is this a job for a Auto Sparky? Thanks for reading WJUK -
Drivers Door Not Unlocking

Cheers Mirez I have a 53 Plate 115 Ghia. I suspect it's something to do with that but could someone else (one of you experts) let me know your thoughts please as it seems very intermittant and quite a few different results too. I live near Heathrow Airport so if anyone knows anyone with VagCom locally I'll happily sort them out a few beers or something if they could check it out for me. If it is wiring I really don't fancy doing it myself but would any of the forum member on here be able to help me OR can someone recommend someone near Heathrow area. Failing that would it likely be an auto sparky or a garage to take it to? Cheers WJUK ps - Could it actually be a lazy / fault drivers door motor? -
Drivers Door Not Unlocking
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Hi guys Just went back out to the car after calming down a bit and although still having problems have noticed a couple more things.... Interior Lights are working as I had them on the wrong setting - they should be on the little door open icon and now work when the doors are open. Checked the passenger footwell and no obvious signs of dampness or a lot of water. Was playing too and fro as before and got everything locked except the petrol cap. When unlocked the Petrol cap is locked !!!! In the end I put the key in the drivers lock and turned it to enable the central locking but nothing happened - the red didnt flash and nothing locked (except the drivers door). Unlocked it and tried it in the passenger side and everything locked fine. Unlocked it again in passenger door and everything unlocked so was feeling a bit better then :46: Locked everything again just to double check via the passenger door and again everything locked but this time the petrol cap stayed unlocked. Did the same again (unlock / lock) and everything locked fine. Unlocked again and this time the drivers door did not open but the petrol cap was locked. Eventually undid the drivers door manually and thought sod it I'll try and lock everything by the drivers door and the red light flashed and it worked. So the car is now locked anyway but there is a major problem with the locking. Is it the wiring in the door or could it be a dodgy central locking motor. I really don't have the patience (or ability) to investigate myself and just feel so frustrated. I've never had so many issues on one car it's unbelievable and I've only owned it nearly 3 months. Would really appreciate some advice - would it be best to take to a mechanice or an auto electrician etc Many thanks WJUK -
Hi guys Went out to the car today and using the remote undid the car but drivers door was locked. Didn't check the others but pressed lock and then unlock again and she was open so thought Sh*t perhaps I didn't lock her last night. Came back and locked her remotely but noticed the drivers door didn't lock :46: So unlocked her and then the drivers door locked (as if it was in reverse but the other doors were now open). Finally got all doors unlocked by locking and unlocking again. Went through handbook and everything but couldn't see a way to reset the system. Have been outside for about 20 minutes playing with the remote and the door locking switch and its hit and miss. Most of the time if I lock the car the drivers door is NOT locking and then the alarm goes off. I sat inside the car and played with it and now and again the drivers door will lock but other times it wont. The alert on the dash is correct in it tells me which doors are open or shut (with key in ignition). I then noticed that the interior lights weren't working correctly either. I did notice the switch was on the little icon with the door rather than the middle one so pushed it to that instead. Opened the doors and no interior lights EXCEPT the ones in the boot. Can someone please suggest what I can do to fix this. It's driving me mad and the Galaxy just feels like one problem after another. I've already had the car go back and have a new auxiliary heater fitted, the air conditioning redone (TWICE), a new drivers mirror - the car came from a dealer in Worcester so it's over 100 miles away and I don't really want to take it back there and I guess there limited warranty doesn't cover this. Please advise me Sad and Frustrated Galaxy Owner WJUK

How To Remove Front Air Vents
wackojackouk replied to wackojackouk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Anyone help? I tried today and started to damage the vent so stopped. I'm sure on my old Escort I put a screwdriver in and popped it out. Thanx WJUK -
Hi guys Can someone tell me how to remove one or the Front Air Vents in the middle of the dash on a MK2. One of the fins has come loose and there was something stuck on the horizontal fin which I knocked inside. Want to get to it before it falls down the back. Can I just prise out with a screwdriver? Cheers WJUK
