  1. Must be all those Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra aircon, MAF sensor, anti-roll bar link bushes, electrical glitch, water ingress claims that took them down. Howard
  2. I would leave it. A perfect car attracts scratches and dents with one small scratch you will ward off the evil dent monster. Sorry don't what I'm on today <_< Howard
  3. Wouldn't touch it without a full service history. As has been mentioned, petrol Galaxys are plentiful. It pays to shop around. Howard
  4. Does the new Galaxy use the same system for cruise control as I've never noticed my accelerator pedal moving and my cruise control works fine? Howard
  5. NO NO NO don't do that to the door. I had a new Renault several years ago that had the same problem and the dealer did just that, wound down the window and bent the frame in a bit. It cured the problem but 18 months later I had rust appearing where the window frame met the door because the paint had been cracked and water seeped in. They fixed it under warranty as the dealer had done the damage. I don't think Ford would be so willing to fix damage done by the owner under the corrosion warranty. Howard
  6. Not sure what the cause is but I would get it into a garage fairly quickly. The car rocking like that is going to do the auto box and transmission no good at all. Howard
  7. If your laptop is running ATI graphics then the latest Catalyst drivers (4.3) have the ability to flip and rotate the desktop, built in now. The drivers are available at their website ATI Howard
  8. Came on again yesterday and is now on permanently. Oh well I guess it's a trip to the dealers. Will let you know what they say. Howard
  9. I was wondering how it could check the oil level when most of it was circulating. Guess it must be a glitch or somat like that. Still ok this morning. Howard
  10. The oil was put in by a Ford Dealer so it's probably 3 in 1, a 2 stroke oil or anything else they had kicking around the workshop. She's due for her 30,000 in 1000 miles so I think I'll get my own oil and take it in. Howard
  11. Driving along today, nice flat road, no hard braking, no hard acceleration, straight road and the oil level warning message and light suddenly came on. No oil pressure warning messages or funny noises etc. I had checked the oil level last weekend and it was between the max and min level. Stopped the car to check for leaks, no problems there. So drove carefully home and left the engine to cool then checked the oil sure enough the level was still fine. Message isn't coming on now though. Anyone else had this happen? Could it be a one off glitch or is there something I should get checked? Howard
  12. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Ford Direct website. My local Ford dealer is a Ford Direct dealer but he said he couldn't get the ones on the public site as they had to be bought through the advertising dealer. The only Ford Direct cars he could get were the ones on the system in their showroom. A lot of the cars on there are very out of date as well. Many times I phoned the dealer on the website, only to find the car had gone a couple of months before! Howard
  13. I was quoted
  14. Scary moment! Really glad to hear you're ok. Makes you wonder how the F1 drivers must feel when they hit things at 170 mph. The deceleration forces must be horrendous. Are you going for another Galaxy when all is sorted out? Howard
  15. I think it's a fairly common problem on all heated windscreens not just Galaxy's. My 2002 Galaxy has several elements gone. I tend to just ignore them as the screen still clears really quickly. I remember a posting a few months ago about this and the general consesus was that most people had a few elements out. That said though if the bands are wide and are causing problems for you then Ford should fix it under warranty. Howard
  16. I see dual aircon is standard now on the Ghia. It certainly makes a difference in the back being able to adjust and angle the airflow through the roof vents. Howard
  17. Sorry Ivor I've virtually repeated your post. I was typing at the same time as you. Great minds think alike ehh  Howard
  18. Like most cars they have their particular faults and peculiarities but don't be put off by the fact that it seems to be all about problems on here. The very nature of a forum like this is a place to come when you have a fault or query. There are certain problems that seem to affect the range some small, some more serious. MAF sensors in TDI Aircon reliability Disconnecting rear wash pipes Damage to wiring at the tailgate joint Anti-roll bar bushes wearing Etc etc. The thing is you may get all, some or none of these problems. Personally I have only had the anti-roll bar bush problem so far, which was easily fixed under warranty. As you can see from your Picasso experience, no car is ever 100% guaranteed fault free and reliable. Howard
  19. I have a great remote control for the kids, it's "if you don't keep quiet your'e banned from the Playstation for the weekend" Works a treat  Howard
  20. You need them if you're going to carry 7 people and luggage. I use mine to clamp a roofbox to so I can carry everyones clutter. I agree they do look better with them on. I believe the roof already has holes for the bars but the roof lining can be tricky to remove and replace. Howard
  21. Did you buy from a Ford Dealer? If so they should transfer the warranty and RAC cover over to you. It usually takes a couple of weeks for the paperwork to come through. If the car was bought under the Ford Direct scheme, then you should get 2 years warranty and RAC cover. Howard
  22. Just had a thought about the rotating seats/child lock thing. What I should have done, rather than clambering over the seats and contorting myself to get out the car, I should have just opened the window and stuck my hand out and opened the door. Ah well, hindsight is a wonderful thing! Howard
  23. Same here. The rotating seats are excellent. we use them all year round. I have also left the child locks on after rotating the seats, it's something you only do once  Also I would recommend the Zetec as the LX doesn't have the parking sensors and these are a really useful item parking a car of this size. Howard
  24. Got a rattle around the ashtray floor console area when the car is cold. Disappears when the car warms up. Will sort it out one day. Howard
  25. Mine's referred to at work as "The Bus". We had a Granada called "Gracie" and a Fiesta called "Rosie" (don't ask, nothing to do with me!). Howard
