Hiya all, finally got around to starting to wirer up my towbar now ive brought a smartstep bypass relay as in pic below . Ive wired the towbar to pins ABCDEF and run a live fused feed from battery to the lower +12v and connected the white wire to a spare grounding point in the n/s/r compartment. Now what im needing to know is where do the yellow, blue, green, brown, red and black wires go to on the car loom and where to the best place to connect to and what type of connection should i use as those scotchlocs are s--- . I have a circuit tester so i know ill be able to find the right wires i just thought that someone out there has done it before and could tell me exactly what goes to what. Thanks in advance p.s Ibrought a new erde trailer from halfords yesterday after lossing a bid for the same one on ebay halfords new price

Never done it but i would imagine a lot of hassle as all the electronics would need changing, and because of this it may not be possible but dont quote me on this -

That might be true but as vr6 says when you later try to fit the ford unit back in it creates problems i know as i have done that on my previous ford granada far better to get the right lead and know that all the connections are perfect -

Remote Control Problems - Secure Locking?
galaxychap replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Drilled the floor panel blimey thats a bit drastic would that not be a future MOT failure. Now i have dried mne out and brought and fitted a new control unit which ive remounted to underside of removable panel which gives it more clearance than putting it on washers means i cannot store anything under there but thats a small price to pay. Now two things firstly anyone know the price of the the underlay/soundproofong as it needs replacing and whats the procedure for reprogramming the the control unit to the remotes. My galaxy is a 1996 (N) 2.8 GHIA. Thanks in advance Leon -
ok guys here is the answer it turns out that the problem with the interior lights extends from the central locking control unit under front passenger seat i replaced this due to water leak old one knackered and hay presto lights are now working coming on when i unlock the car and going off when i lock it thanks for help anyway

Relay Under Front Passenger Seat
galaxychap replied to galaxychap's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Talking of weather proofing im surprised the outer casing is not sealed for life the outer casing on the old unit just unclipped apart to reveal a soaking pcb. I did think of using washers but thought that would not raise it enough so i am gona instead attach it to the underside of the removable panel. anyway thank you for your input. Leon :D -
Well the control box arrived this morning yes as a previous post said very quick funny though fitting this new box also corrected my coutesy lights which where not working properly they now come on when unlocking the car'yippe very handy this time of yr. Now unlocking the car centrally only works via key in door do i need to get the keys re-programmed if so is that a ford dealer job the batteries are ok only replaced them 2 wks ago. Thanks Leon :D
