As taken from the Volkswagen VR6 Engine pocket mechanic manual A temp switch is fitted into the L.H side of the bottom radiator water tank to actuate the two-stage cooling fan. At a temp of 92c to 97c the first stage of the fan comes into operation(half speed). The second stage switches on when the temp of the coolant has reached 99c to 105c So it looks like you could have a faulty switch. Regards Leon (aka galaxychap)

Hiya Guys, Ok with the nice weather shortly to arrive me thinks its about time i got my sunroof fixed i brought the gal 3 mths ago knowing it had a faulty roof but did nothing about it at the time because of the crap weather. My question is will the hole assembly come out without having to remove the headlining as the roof in my granada did as im sure the problem is just dirtyness if it aint that what else should i check and is there a common fault with these. Hiya guys On travalling to birminham last wk i noticed the temp gauge was between the R and M of norm while in slow moving traffic when im on the motorway its below the N is this normal or do you think the fan is cutting in too late if it is does the temperature sender control this. Hiya VR6 nope i did not get one as i did not have the time to souce one and as the old leads where being bined anyway i pulled them off ,came off quite freely to put new ones on i made a tool with 15mm plastic pluming pipe that done the trick in pushing the new leads on. Anastacia she was brill,fab,fantastic,super best gig ive been to in yrs and so much meaning in her lyrics. Take care m8 and thanks for your tips Leon

after fitting new ht leads and plugs plus resealing coil pack all is sweet

ok i had same problems with my 1995 gal 2.8v6 aoto only last wk so this is what cured it 1) took coil pack of for inspection found 3 cracks in it was not gona pay in excess of

Ok refitted coil pack after cleaning and sealing with epoxy resin fitted the one ht lead that was split although i did buy a full set refitted battery after an overnight charge and guess what .............. same problem so i thought other leads so started changing them got the 3 front ones on ok looking down plug end of one a bad case of corrosion anyway cannot get the back three of guess i need the right tool as vr6 has said. Is there anything else i can check she fires up and runs for a couple of seconds then dies she was popping though exhaust but since i replaced coil pack and the split number 2 lead that has stopped . Any assistance would be most appriciated as the gal is needed friday as me and the wife are off to birmingham nec to see anastacia. Thank you

Hiya all On starting me gal this morning she started popping though the exhaust and misfiring anyway i keeped her running and it cleared once she warmed up so off i went for a 10 mile run after about 5 miles doing 30mph she died i opened the bonnet and checked the ht leads and yup number 2 was split in 4 places anyway i got a slow tow home once there i took the coil pack off for inspection and noticed 1 large and 3 places where it is starting to crack i got some jd weld epoxy resin from halfords to sort that will let u know how it goes shall get a new set of lead tommz. Now my question, is there anything else i should check and where is the best place to get new leads i,e vw,ford or seat. Thanks in advance Leon (aka galaxychap)

justme you have a zetec so you wont have one as i understand its only on pre facefift
