Sony In Dash 6 Cd Changer Swap Over
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Thanks for the info, it sounds more hassle than its worth then, I did think though that the 1.75 size DIN was the same on the Mondeo and Galaxy. -
Higher Road Tax For Ford Galaxy Mk 1 And Mk 2
jkspoff replied to El Dingo's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
'Here, here' totally agree. -
I forgot just how economical the tdi Galaxy was, filled it up a couple of weeks ago, and covered 300 miles on half a tank, driving sensibly, thats fantastic coming from an ST220 !

Do the rear most seats fold outwards to create a space in the middle on the VW Sharan only ?? Just wondered because a friend of mine is looking for one, and I didn't realise they did, has anyone got a picture of them like that ?

What Do You Think To This Galaxy ?
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Its one of the best Fords ever made, a real wolf in sheeps clothing, it hurts me to sell it, but needs must, got the 'sensible' Gal now ! -
Coolant Leak
jkspoff replied to Ex-Galaxy person's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its a great shame that you had to sell it, I had identical problems with mine last year, and eventually never got to the bottom of it, so ended up trading it in. I missed it a lot though, so I have bought another, I would love to know what the issue was with both yours and my old one, I more than likely suspect it was the head gasket, even though as you and others have mentioned it showed no obvious signs. Stick around, you may well be back one day..........Once driven forever smitten ! -
What Do You Think To This Galaxy ?

It is still for sale, but I have someone who wants it, they are having to wait for some inheritance to come through, so I have left it for sale in the mean time if you're interested. Here is the link to the advert: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=009 -
This will certainly start forcing manufacturers to take seriously the 'alternative fuel' production car a lot lot quicker. People are going to start shopping for cars on 'cost of running' rather than style and performance, as getting from A to B is going to be only for the wealthy eventually.

So what would happen if I went out now and added 50% cooking oil to my Gal and drove as normal ? Come on, someone else try it first !!! and pay the relevant duties of course !
-
OK then, who's going be the first to try it ! Its very tempting.......

Tyres - Speed Rating.... Again
jkspoff replied to DaveM's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Anyone ever heard of or used Westlake Tyres, I did a Google search and found this link, my link above is selling 2 at -
Ok, I know that you have to pay duty and all that on veg oil if used as a fuel, BUT, what would happen if I just poured a litre of veg oil in my tank, would it work, or would I need to mix it up ??

Tyres - Speed Rating.... Again
jkspoff replied to DaveM's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Any tyre that has a load rating of >97 is classed as extra load or reinforced. Charlie Browns are doing 30% off when you buy 4 Continentals from them at the moment, or 15% off 2. How about these : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=017 x2 extra load tyres W rated for less than -

For the first time ever, I am actually re-considering non-essential journeys, to go anywhere is just no pleasure, too much traffic, massive fuel costs, overcrowded destinations, queues everywhere, massively expensive family days out theme parks, unfortunately if this countries not careful its going to out price its own economy, leaving people no other choice but to stop spending completely on non-essentials. It makes no wonder this country has a huge credit problem, people are having to resort to credit cards just to survive, by buying food shopping and fuel with their credit cards, with no way of paying them off.

Had the bumper resprayed now, so looks like new, however I would still like the protective steel strip that prevents my dog from scratching the paint. My old Mondeo had a wide one, see below.

I find I use my cruise control a lot, especially on 'average speed camera' sites along motorways, usually 50mph.
-
Try auctions, lowish mileage Gals are there and you can check gearbox etc before bidding.

Sounds similar to the one I just got, don't forget they need a new timing belt at 60k. The 130bhp definately seems a lot pokier than the old 115bhp I used to have, seems like it pulls harder at lower revs. I am well pleased with my return to Galaxy ownership. Now all I need to do is get shut of the ST220 !

What a whopper !
