  1. there is a square section bullt into the tensioner body, use a 19 mm open ended spanner on this ,to release the tension on the belt .then lock in place with an allen key.this will save any damage using a screw driver, also if its your first time, draw a plan of the routeing, could save scratching your head later.......
  2. hi there ,ive recently worked on a 115 model and i hope this could help you....the vss sensor can be found on top of the gearbox ,but you have to dig deep....its where the selector cables are bolted to the gearbox....if you remove this bracket....the sensor should now be visable.....regards...traff
  3. it gets worse....hunted high and low......cant find the plastic one now...no choice but a lock smith....thanks for your time on this one..regards traff
  4. please hold that thought....will get back to you as soon as i can....thanks

  8. hi there...the vss ..or vehicle speed sensor is a pig to find..its on top of the gearbox..under the gear shift cable support braket.....if you remove the battery tray...you may just get your hand down there....regards traff
  9. many thanks..i will pass that info on to my work mate whose car it is...ps .his is an 04 plate and has lost 2 due to this problem, yet mine ,a 53 plate, has not had this happen...just luck i suppose
  10. hi all ,was just wondering if anybody has had any luck stripping down and overhalling a rear brake caliper? the reason i ask is can the handbrake part be removed and greased to stop it from siezing????.front calipers are a walk in the park, but whats inside the rear,s
  11. as for the rear pads...the wires are very flimsy...they snap very close to the pad itself...a probable cause of an open circit....also the sensor is fitted low on the pads..this means that when the light comes on ..you still have a good bit of pad remaining...so dont panic ...hope this helps....traff
  12. parts are delpi...same as the girling company...from local motor factors...thought they are a good brand to go for....looks like i am mistaken...will try ford/vw in future..thanks
  13. hi all..ive replaced the drop links again...every 6 months they go...lots of pot holes and speed humps where i live.wife wont help by driving like a loon..can i get any heavy duty units?.i dont know where to look.
  14. vw part no 3d0 965 561 d ....wrote this down when i had my pump off to replace brush,s
  15. oops just checked internet new part no is 4024....or draper do a simular version
  16. hi guys...are you fed up ,getting cut hands every time you go near one of those spring type hose clamps? then get yourself down to your local motor factors and ask for laser tool no 3751...its a very clever tool .holds tight to the clamp...not expensive...ive used mine for years with no bother...easy to use..what are you waiting for? time to put the band aids away....
  17. sorry its late...been hard at work.....if you now have removed system, disconect the motor, and plug this back into the loom....if you have a 12 volt supply here as suggested in your previous post ,the motor should turn if it wont turn on its own ,then suspect the motor .if it spins the you need to check all the linkage.....traff ps ..should be easy to check for resistance without the motor in place.
  18. hi there...sounds as if the tracking is out..could be track rod ends or lower bushes..jack up the front grab the wheel at 6 and 12 o clock ie top and bottom ..try rocking..look and listen for play...there should be none ...then try 3 and 9 o clock....should yield the same results.....hope this helps....traff
  19. hi again...sorry for delay...been busy....mas air flow seems to be a big problem with these engines..worth a look i think....or fuel system....would now try some diesel injector cleaner in your tank .a shot in the dark i know ,but its fairly cheap ,and it might work...regards..traff
  20. try cleaning the egr valve.....you wont believe how mutch crap you will find in there.its allmost like trying to breath through a staw...give it a go ..see how your engine feels
  21. dont think they are the same.....crank sensor tells the engine when to fire....speed sensor tells how fast the road speed is ....would expect the latter to be on the gearbox or drive shaft area
  22. its not the motor ..its a siezed spindle....to fix ..remove wiper lincage 3 bolts....with it on the floor you can see the problem....remove c shaped clip and washer then small o ring .try gently tapping top to separate..or use heat...be carefull its only cast alloy....once in bits lube with oil and refit as reverse......did my mates mk2 with the same problem just this weekend.....hope this helps
  23. first if youve allready removed it from the car ....hold it in a vice..insert the tool...hold center bolt still and turn the outer part anti clockwise...beware..its very tight..watch your hands when it finally lets go
  24. ive fitted a tow bar 2 years ago,and my sensors went crazy....cheap fix...use several layers of insulation tape over the inner sensors...the outer 2 still work fine, and give you good warnings....we have not reversed into anything yet....ps use black tape....done 2 cars this way ..both work well
  25. hi there, you dont say why you need to remove your turbo...you can clean it if you are getting the dreaded limp home problem...take a look at the external links section on this forum...i did mine....now it goes like a rocket .hope this helps
