has anybody out there got a list of log in codes for the full version of vcds or vag as it was known as .all i get is refer to the service book for my car .i dont think any such thing exists for a mk 2 galaxy.any help please ?

ive done mine from under the car...in fact ive done the same for a couple of mates cars.jack up car ,remove wheel,undo and remove 2 allen bolts from the bottom ball joint ,pull the strut outwards...make sure the inner boot is loose first thou....watch out...its very greasy...clean..remove circlip ...then uj joint...boot slides off.....refit is reverse of above.....uj must go on the same way round that you took it off...sounds tricky but its easy ...allow about 1 hour.you can use the same method to do the outer joint as well.

hi mirez , thanks for your input ,but wat is this tsb you refer to ? just to update you ....i thought maybe it could be the egr valve....the outsde had oil over it so i thought i was on to a winner ...alas , the unit is working [ i checked my results on my mates galaxy ] . wfe says im panicing ,but i know somthing is wrong....i dont want to wait untill it blows up ...rather a stitch in time aproch....any suggestions??????

When I had a booming noise that seemed to blow back throught the air box on my 115 51 plate tdi with 132 k miles it turned out to be wear on the cam lobes. There was no smoke and it started just fine but just sounded like a tractor also. I had to have a new cam , cam shells, tappets, cam belt, water pump, air mass sensor as the back flow of air knacked the old one. Price inc a oil change at a VW specialist in Lincoln

hi , i have a 2003 1.9 tdi 115. and its making a horrible sound from the air box . got the wife to rev it up to about 1800 revs whilst i listened uder the bonnet ,when i took the pipe off it sounded like a tractor.im thinking it could be the turbo but it runs ok ,starts ok , no smoke .i do my own servicing and use the correct oil .although ive worked on cars for years, ive never worked with turbo,s before, any help ?anything? thanks traff

ive been reading a few topics in the forum,and the reference to vag-com keeps comming up.is this a fancy name for a fault code reader? if so it plugs in under the dash right? where can i get one , how much, and would it work on my 1.9 tdi? regards traff.

please help! i own a 53 plate 1.9 tdi 110kw galaxy,and i have a small oil leak.on the auto gearbox. it is comming from the filler cap.i am unsure but think its a tamper proof item.so far i must have lost about half a pint of oil over my drive.how do i check the oil level,does this cap have a dip stick included,if i pull cap off ,will it go back on.and what grade /type of oil/amount, would this box take? i am capable of most repairs,but in the absence of a haynes manuel,im lost , ive never come across a set up like it. ps. i think the cap must be faultyor at least i hope its that simple, why else would it leak? regards traff.
