  1. I would be inclined to cut it further down and sleeve it with an approprate material before soldering the wire back together (using a small bridge if needed) and covering the soldered joint with heat shrink tubing.
  2. Does it start OK now? It could have been a few things, like air in the fuel line to the pump, fuel vapourising in the line (unlikley but it can happen) etc.
  3. You can get a can of window seal lubricant spray from Halfords. that should help solve the problem.
  4. 37. Of course I will still respect you in the morning 38. I promise I will tell you when I am (perhaps not suitable for on here. You get the idea though!)
  5. I would give it a day or two before I would start to worry. There are a few reasons why it may be juddering, they are: damaged or faulty springs in the driven plate, the driven plate sticking on the splines, a faulty dual mass flywheel (not that one is fitted to your car), oil contamination on the faces and a sticking release bearing (unlikely). I have never had to re-face a flywheel, so I doubt that is the problem, but a clutch does have to bed in a bit.
  6. You don't have a sleeve in the joint, I can only assume it is a packing piece.
  7. I think that for the cost of a half litre of brake fluid it is daft not to open the bleed nipples.
  8. That is certainly his latest one, if you Google it in a weeks time you will see how often he posts stuff. It is already on 3 other sites I use, it is informative but long winded at times. Have a look here to see what a busy spammer he is! http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&...-8&oe=utf-8 and that is just the ones that Google can spider without being blocked out or needing to log in!
  9. Perhaps it suffers from agoraphobia? It always seems to go when your at the end of your road!
  10. I am not a mod, but it is here chap : http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...mp;#entry123951
  11. Whew, I thought for a minute that you were 'Oilman' Opie Oils' spammer who posts pages and pages of spam on every car site in the world. Well OK the UK at least. But your not, as your a regular and don't just post about oils!
  12. Are the drips of fuel coming out the exhaust? If so have you tried emptying it out?
  13. I know the bolt is an M14*1.5*38mm but I don't know off the top of my head what size the head is!
  14. Did you fit new valve lifters? Did the belt snap? Timing must be pretty much spot on the it won't start or will smoke.
  15. Ummm, a new seat knob simply clips on and costs
  16. As others have said, the MOT test for it is it lights for a few seconds then goes off. That is all the MOT test covers on the ABS. If it comes back on again when the vehicle is moved then that is not a reason for failure.
  17. MumOf4 have you been sniffing the fumes again?
  18. Jack, that engine was used a lot in the V6 Golfs etc. Perhaps asking the question on a VW site may yeald the answer. If it does, don't forget to tell us what it was!
  19. I am thinking ECU engine temperature sensor causing overfuelling but that would not really explain the whole 'cutting out' it should just make it smoke a bit black.
  20. The metering pump is in the cnetre of the car on the main fuel line, check for a dodgy connection.
  21. When diesel is burnt you can also get white smoke, although it is heated unburnt fuel, not actually smoke.
  22. Yep, something is stuck, get the card off and look, 'tis the only way!
  23. Both would be needed
  24. Or dry bushes on the bottom arm.....
  25. My money is on it actually being a family of chimps that have escaped from the local Ford dealers.....
