  1. We have had severe problems before from someone who took the battery tray out - don't do it! Can require drastic surgery to prop the gearbox back up .....
  2. Got a pair of droplinks off-the-shelf from my local factors, who I drive past 4 days a week, on my way home tonight ... under
  3. On my first car, I fitted rear fog lamps (in the days long ago before these things were mandatory). The warning lamp in the switch kept blowing - no obvious reason, it just seems to be one of those things that some cars blow certain bulbs regularly.
  4. Alton, rather than Alton Towers, would suit me. Savernake forest OK so long as willing female will let me share her tent (LOL !) Chippenham, Lyneham, Calne are OK too
  5. Depends on the company and the operators on the day - my dad worked with someone who took a surfboard on the roof of their car - it overhung the rear of the car by two inches - the ferry co got the tapemeasures out and charged extra as this took them into the next "length" band.
  6. 1. fast reply not working for me; 2. photos at top of the page have the first line of "script" running across them.....
  7. It was for one of the internet holiday sites - lastminute.com (? IIRC)
  8. Raymac - mine does the same, has done since I got the car at 2 years old. I'm not bothered, it's not got any worse. Just live with it !
  9. Yes it should fit no problem as the cars are all the same under the trim. IIRC I think someone has posted before about how the trim needs to be cut to fit the "genuine" dog guard. If not, I am sure that someone has the instructions that they could scan and post here...... Have you tried asking Seat UK, or visiting a dealer (or, dare I mention it, the dreaded e-bay)?
  10. ..and as for the last incident I had with another driver - my front bumper and their rear but it was their fault.... what do you do when you are in a queue for a car park and the person in front of you changes their mind, slams their car into reverse and accelerates backwards into you, not having checked in their rear view mirror? I am sat there, horn blaring because I can see what is going to happen but cannot move out of the way. Grrrrrr
  11. It's for incidents like these that I always go for cpmprehensive insurance cover. If the other vehicle was stationary but then moved off as you were passing it, then they will be at fault....but they may change their story to the insurance co - hope you notified your insurance co as soon as possible by phone, then back it up in writing. If the other party changes their story then it is clear that it contradicts your original report. Trouble is, as we have found out with my wife's insurers, the insurance co clerks may be too lazy to pursue the claim saying it was the other arty's fault - they could just settle for an easy life and tell you that it has to be settled knock-for-knock in the absence of independent witnesses. Good luck - I hope that the truth will be taken into account and you will "win".
  12. Get the throttle body cleaned properly. If that fails to cure it, try the idle stability valve. Don't use your main dealer but ring around/visit a few independent garages asking if they have a computer that will interrogate the Ford engine management system to read the fault codes etc.
  13. Why didn't the header tank pressure cap blow first and reduce the pressure in the system?
  14. More worryingly is that unreinforced tyres will flex more when you corner, promoting greater wear, more resistance (ie increased fuel consumption) ...and in enxtreme conditions could felx enough (if you corner very hard) ... to peel off the rims. Well, that is what I have read elsewhere. This is obviously a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE and you should get reinforced tyres fitted ASAP (but don't drive too fast on your way to get them done)
  15. Where's it all gone? Flashplayer no longer works on my PC, not even by uninstalling and re-installing. Anyone good at registry hacking in XP?
  16. Then you drape a suitable blamket over it, and the velcro helps to grip the blanket. Use sufficiently robust wood, and the frame acts as a shelf for you to rest jackets on, etc etc..... I had suitable wood and bolts etc lying around. I bought a travel blanket for around
  17. First you need to make a frame from suitable wood, bolts, nuts and washers, plus a bit of self-adhesive velcro .....
  18. Not sure from the photos I have seen that the fold-flat seat backs will take kindly to having 200 bricks stacked on them. The existing Gal excels in this area! So you have to take the seats out, but at least you have a proper load-bearing floor. Depends on what kind of use you intend to put the car to, I suppose.
  19. The "problem" though is the momentary lapse that sees you exceed the limit for a few seconds - which just happens to be where the camera is. You see people travelling for miles flagrantly breaking the limits and not getting caught, but you stick to the limit except for a moment's inattention and you get done for
  20. From what happens with mine, IIRC if you don't open and close the bonnet before pressing the reset button, the message just goes away temporarily, to return 1000 miles (or so) later.
  21. Could be either a fault in the instrument panel, or the speed sensor on the gearbox - had my old Rover 820 play up in a similar fashion; that was about
  22. No sign of any blinds in the photos on the "preview" brochure that I got last week.
  23. Gulp - on mine, the bezel is such a good fit it doesn't appear to be a separate piece of trim from the unit's front. Don't fancy trying to lever it off.......
  24. just hold on .... isn't the bezel they refer to, the trim that goes round the centre console? I'd start by talking the radio out and having a good look round inside the console ....
  25. Full geometry check means that all 4 wheels are checked for correct alignment to the direction in which the car is pointing, plus caster (the angle at which the wheels sit with respect to the road) and a few other measurements are made. This may also tell you if there is excessive movement or wear in any of the suspension components ...... have you owned the car from new?
