New Wireless Router Is Blocking Stuff (or Seems To Be)
Ivor_E_Tower replied to a topic in Internet and computers
Yes - from experience, ditch the Belkin stuff and go to Linksys. That's the only way I got my wireless network to work at home -
Dare I admit it ???? OK then - yup - if I had the time and money I'd love to "do up" the under-bonnet area too. All that chromed surface - makes it easier to keep clean too as the dirt should just wash off

OMG - a Latin Scholar.. Julius Caesar was a Roman Geezer Who squashed his nose in a lemon squeezer ..... is about all I remember from my history lessons ... well, that plus Yogi Bear (don't ask!)

What annoys me is the way successive politicians have messed up this once-great country of ours....VAT used to be 10 percent (was actually 8 percent for quite a while), never used to have airport departure tax, or tax on our fuel bills, or tax on insurance premiums...we used to have almost the lowest fuel prices in Europe, when I was a kid we didn't used to lock the family car when we went out and it was always still there when we came back with all our stuff still inside it.....

New Gal and S-Max do not come with a spare - that is enough to stop me from buying, even if I don't have the money to change cars at the moment anyway. Looks like I will have to dream of an Espace.....

100k - nothing out of the ordinary. If the brake fluid and coolant haven't been changed in the past 3 years, get them changed now. Cambelt will be every 40k or 60k depending on what belt was last fitted....

From experience, Beale Park is spectacularly disappointing - it is very small and can be experienced in less than 2 hours. No fairground rides or similar to keep the kids entertained. The Savacentre car park at Calcott probably has more charm than Beale Park LOL! IMHO a week-end meet would be better than a Friday night - the M4 can get very gunged up on Friday afternoons/evenings. Better to wait a few more weeks and aim for Saturday - time it right and the footie fans can watch the action on the tellys on sale in the shop. Last time I stopped, there was also a small restaurant upstairs at the front of the building - mind you, it was being refurbished yet again....

I found this in New York at the beginning of the month - very pleasant surprise... ...so in the last 6 weeks I have fulfilled 3 "great wishes" - Been on Concorde, driven a 911 and driven a Ferrari

Now if only I could get my local Tesco to make a special "Galaxy only" area in the car park......

Reading's not too far from me - gather that there is quite a big ASDA somewhere around that part of the world - a meet-up in a supermarket carpark sounds ideal! Free parking, get one with a good car accessory section and we can have quite a laugh, plus the food/drinks from an all-day cafe will be around one quarter of the price of a motorway service area.

I Can Sing No More

You will need to check at least 2 fuses - the permanent live feed and the ignition-switched one. There may also be another fuse on the back of the CD-radio unit itself (not sure - I have the cassette radio head unit in mine) -
Tdi Exhaust Systems
Ivor_E_Tower replied to cos 4x4's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The facelifted (post-2000) TDI's have a catalyst although I do not belive that it is required for the MOT. Unsure about earlier models though -
The only Ford engine fitted to the facelifted (2000 to 2006) Galaxy is the 2.3 litre petrol; the diesles and V6 are VW units. The Sharan/Alhambra uses a 2.0 VW Petrol engine, and the latest Sharans/Alhambras also use a VW 2.0 tdi engine. Earleir Galaxys also used VW units except for the 2.0 and 2.3 petrols which were Ford units - again, VW fitted their own 2.0 unit to the earlier Sharans.

Rear Window Handles
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Battlebus's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
No, mum, only the Ghia has electric rear windows (facelifted models anyway) -
Depends on when it was made; Ford played around with the trim

By occupation: 1. Gynaecologist 2. Professional golfer 3. Airline pilot By "person": 1. Sultan of Brunei (no money worries again!) 2. Tiger Woods (similar reason to 1, plus I'd get some exercise) 3. Fernando Alonso (young, best in the world, free, single and rich)

Have you tried the dealer? They should be able to supply you with the paint code from the vehicle registration number. In my case, the paint was also cheaper than at Halfords
-
Likely causes: 1) Faulty brake light switch, causing the coil flashing symbol - ECU thinks that no fuel is required as you are braking; 2) Immobiliser fault 3) Fuel pump and/or relay fault, meaning that there is not always fuel being supplied 4) Intermittent wiring fault somewhere I'd be tempted to change the brake light switches first (wonder if disconnecting the wires would help - anyone know if they are simple make-and-break or more complex?)

I have to say that it looks seriously interesting....

Bp Ultimate Diesel?
Ivor_E_Tower replied to Mikef's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I put a couple of tankfulls into mine last year. the Gal will not detect the "ultimate" or make any adjustments, but it ran smoother and gave improved mpg. If I weren't so desparately short of money I would put a tankful of Ultimate in, every 2nd or 3rd fill, but the BP stations round where I live are asking top price for their fuel anyway. Esso is actually cheaper than the local Tesco's, and has been for about a month now, so that's where I usually fill up -
I see they have found a way to solve the problems with the spare wheel carrier then tongue.gif LOL !

I had a look at the new Galaxy and S-max at my dealer last week. Neither comes with a spare wheel/tyre. Plus the fold-flat seats mean that the floor isn't that strong. Galaxy still does not have an ashtray/rubbish bin for the middle row of seats which is a serious omission in a family car. Also the third row seems to make you have to sit twisted to fit your feet under the "outer" middle row seats. Very disappointed with both cars. The front pilars are also very thick and obstruct visibility - maybe even worse than in the Original Galaxy. Looks like, if I ever have any money, it will be an Espace next time round for me
