High Idle
me myself and I replied to me myself and I's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
plenty of views but no replies.....?? -
folks, My idle is usually up around 1000rpm with a slight variation either side of it.I get a slight over rev when I start up.Fuel consumption is slightly high (although it is a 2ltr dohc 1997).Temp gauge is always down in the white when driving but raises to normal when stopped. After searching I am starting to come to the conclusion of a faulty temp sensor. Are these expensive?Hard to fit?Need special tools?

me myself and I replied to me myself and I's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
thanks Timsbamma. They look like they are the ones. Thanks -
probably in the in the wrong section so mods feel free to move if needed People, I am wondering if any of you can point me in the right direction.I am looking to get a bigger than usual roofbox.I have a 500 litre box on the jeep but even with that i am running tight on space. As i am getting a bike rack for the towbar so it free's up space on the roof.It is a long wheel base jeep so I have the room on top. I have only come across the usual sites but am just wondering if anybody knows anywhere that does BIG boxes. Ta in advance.

Ok.Need your thoughts on this. 1997 2.0 ltr Dohc petrol I replaced the engine last summer.Havent done a huge amount of miles in it since. Because only the technical side was done ie literally old engine out new engine in with new clutch and slave cylinder and no electronic stuff done would it be of any benefit to get the ecu checked/remapped or will the ecu re-read itself for the new engine. Also I presume it is set for 95ROn petrol. Will do my own tests with petrol over the next few weeks to see which petrol it runs best with. Any advice greatly appreciated.

100 notes.Jaysus!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Over here average price is E70 ( -
Would it not be the case that you could drain as much as possible out fill upp with Diesel and run it for a few miles then top up again drive for a few miles top up again for a few times until basically the petrol is "diluted" by diesel till it runs out. Just as a matter of interest on my 4x4 I had to change the fuel tank and there was a drain plug on the bottom of the tank making it v easy to drain. Is there not one on the Galaxy?

Note: Unlike the UK, visitors to France and Spain should be aware that there is a definite 'split' between main oil companies and supermarkets. Main oil company supplied fuels are very close to 100% with additives, whereas supermarket fuels are almost always without them, as it lets them sell the fuel at a lower price. So maybe this is why my jeep started to get reeeaaaaallllllyyyyy smokey after 2 weeks of filling up in French supermarkets for my trip down to SW France but was nowhere near as bad when started to use branded diesel when I got back home

1997 MK1 2.oltr petrol DOHC Ok every so often driving fine with a little "hesitation" intermiitently when dropping thru the rev range. But yesterday driving in traffic it sounded and felt like it was driving on 3 cylinders.Revs were way down spluttering and eventually died.Stopped and made sure the leads were properly connected to dist caps but still no different.Made it to motorway and drove as normal (No hesitation) and hasnt happened since!!!! Am leaning towards dodgy MAF or leads or plugs. Anybody with an enlightened view............................... Also is there anyone on the east coast of Ireland (North or South) with a fault code reader. Ta

Vagcom & Temp Gauge
me myself and I replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi I have the same problem with the needle (dropping into the white when running) doesnt prove to a problem as it rises to give a normal reading when stuck in traffic but it is just annoying. If I get a new cluster with digital readout can I just switch them around and is it easy?
