Galaxybits Out of interest - what year is your Galaxy and how old is the replacement motor you found -
Blower Motor Went Bang
Buncers replied to Buncers's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I tried glue, but it just fell apart again in operation. So I removed the loose fins and opposite fins to balance them out. I have now re-installed it and it works OK at setting 2, but is pretty rumbly at 3 and 4. I'll see how it goes for now. The scrap merchants want 60 - 80 quid. Bit steep for old parts with only 3 months guarantee. I'll going to check on VW parts and aftermarket. -
Is this also the Hand-brake warning light - as is on my model. If so, it could be a faulty hand-brake switch

Blower Motor Went Bang

I found some of the broken bits (a plastic fin) and plan to glue them back on. Any suggestions on what glue to use ? -
Blower Motor Went Bang

I thought "Blower Motor" was pretty clear - that's what Haynes call it anyway. It is the thing that pumps cold or hot air at you (in the cabin) from the Air Con, Heater or outside Some of the fins have been broken off - don't know how -
Well - on the hottest day of the year so far my blower motor went clatter clatter bang. Air con still working - but not too effective. Anyone had this go. Can't find a reference on this site. Just phoned Frauds (148+VAT) for a new motor. Anyone know where I can get it any cheaper.

Fuel Filter Changing, How?
Buncers replied to TimK's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I only had to remove the battery shield (a few screws). I could then just about get to the fuel filter. The fuel pipes are a bit tricky to pull off - but possible. My clamp was already broken (thank to Nationwide Autocenter - I guess). But once the pipes and sensor are off, you can remove the filter with a bit of dexterity. -
Just started to get a strange squeel, post starting/engine firing, could be from the starting motor. This doesn't happen all the time and isn't affecting anything else at present. Anyone, any idea what it could be?
-
The Haynes manual (1995 to 2000) uses the term booster heater for the fuel driven one, with glow plug under the NSR door. It has no mention of an auxiliary heater.

 Seatkid, Thanks - that cured the problem. Starting up first time now Cheers

Strange problem of late. Have a 1.9TDI n reg. When turning over the engine it fires, but cuts out almost immediately. I retry a number of times with foot off accelerator, half down and all the way down. Most of the time it has solved the problem - except today. Today it wouldn't start at all even though it would fire. I squirted with WD40, tried again and then waited for rescue man. An hour later it started second time. Rescue man (from Direct Line rescue) said "could be air in the fuel" - I said "duh - so". He said "take it to a garage and get it checked out". Sometimes you get idiots and sometimes you get crap - what can you expect these days. Anyone out there got any clues. BTW - I have booked it in to get my thermostat changed, since the car hasn't been warming up for some time - don't think it is related.

Won't Unlock If Cold
Buncers replied to pj_andrew's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yeah - I've had this problem a couple of times this winter. Last night the central locking system kept re-cycling because it couldn't lock the doors, got confused and kept trying for a minute or so. A couple of months back I had the drivers door lock freeze in the open position, so the door wouldn't shut properly. I freed it by operating the lock manually from the inside. Can't wait till spring, I hope my Gal can. -
I know this may have been asked before, but I am not sure if there was an answer. Would my model 1.9 TDI 1996 (GLX) have such an auxilliary heater ?
-
Thanks guys - So I guess I need to check out the thermostat and the aux heater. Any suggestions how I can check whether these are working or not ?
-
Strangely enough I have exactly the same problem. No heating. Is heating only produced from the heater? Does the aircon not produce any heat just cooling. My heater guage takes ages to move, does this mean my thermostat is stuck or broken?

Cobra 1046/icd Remote Locking
Buncers replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had a Pirahna system fitted. When I was looking around for systems to fit, I always found that they had the same decibel output. I even tried a sparkrite and had the same low volume output. The current systems claxon is fitted at the back of the engine bay behind the block, not far down. I alway thought the sound was impaired due to the diesel sound insulation, but yours (EVSS) seems OK. mmmm ! -

Have any of the rest of of you got a diesel (I notice EVSS has). I ask because I had an Alarm fitted a few years ago, it works fine, only the claxon is just not loud enough, due to the sound insulation on the diesel - I think. -
I glued mine on with Araldite and it's still on - some years now

Diesel Heater Coil Light Flashing When Driving
Buncers replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I just find it amazing how Ford know nothing of this fault - it seems one of the commonest on this web site. I could be wrong, but it looks like almost anyone with a not very new Gal or Shal get it. Also it is not so easy to get rid of - lots of posts with good and bad experiences. Look for "Glow plug warning light" or similar combination. I've changed my brake switch (black one - yeah there are 2), but still have the problem. Haven't bothered to try fiddling with reset or the blue one yet. Good Luck -
That pic is fantastic. Ever seen a real body kitted Gal like that ?

Have a look at http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/Forum/index.php?showtopic=1356 You need torx to get the back off the steering wheel column, but be careful about the airbag - you need to disconnect the battery for some time. I just pulled the switch out from the front and cut and reconnected the wires.
