  1. Mine's been doing the same for a while. It appears to be the wiring in the tailgate (rubber trunking), because every now and then, when I open or shut the tailgate the wiper will move. Does everything fall apart on this car after a few year?
  2. Strange, I fitted a replacement Bosch one some time ago and it has alway left the bottom 3 inches (or so) unwiped. I've lived with it.
  3. Bought some from Tescos at the weekend - they don't fit, totally the wrong size SORRY!
  4. Where are you parking it? Petrol shortage etc, someone could be siphoning it off Just a thought.
  5. When I had the front of my car jacked up the other day, I turned over the engine, can't remember why, forgetting I had the car in gear. Only realized when the front wheels started turning.
  6. I know a Solicitor that charges
  7. Mine's not due to get changed for another 10k or 1 year. I plan to get it done in plenty of time - or maybe change the car (whichever comes sooner).
  8. Is this just a diesel thing. I ask because my neighbour who has a petrol gal, has never had the problem.
  9. It's not listed, but I have not had any problem with it for 50k miles/4 years. I also had a good look at the belts last week, when I was under the car and they look in good nick.
  10. Well somebody's definitely been ripped off. Last time I had mine done (still have the receipt), was Hans Motors in Maidenhead - they do a lot of company cars. Done in 2001, 70k on clock. They changed both Timing belt and Alternator belt for
  11. You need to bleed them and you may have pushed muck back into the hydraulic system when you pushed back the cylinder. It also could be that the pads just need bedding in. Suggest you use a socket (gently) to undo the bleed nipple (they get a bit stiff between services) and then continue with a spanner for bleeding. When I did mine last week, I drained the lot and renewed with new fluid. You need to bleed all four ends for this. Pretty quick with assistance (my 11 year old son enjoyed the experience of pressing the brake pedal to order).
  12. If you mean the roll restrictor/stabilizer - see my post http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=5948
  13. Don't think so - I think you have to do it one side at a time
  14. Saw some in tesco at the weekend for
  15. Just changed my front brake pads over the weekend. Problems encountered are - 1) you need a 7mm hex key - not normally in a standard kit. I bought one with a half inch socket on the end. Makes it easier to remove the caliper guide pins - specially if a garage has previously done your brakes. 2) Bleed nipple needs a strange imperial size spanner. 3) You need a brake hose clamp - I couldn't find one so ended up draining and renewing all the brake fluid - pretty quick with assistance. 4) G-Clamp or special tool needed for pushing cylinder back. 5) The spring clip can be tricky to replace - comes off easily enough. Technique I found best was - put sharp end in the holes, fit bottom half of spring over caliper. Then holding all in place, pull top end of spring over caliper with pliers. 6) Getting at fluid reservoir is an utter pig. You need to remove air filter cover and hose and soft shield thing at top back of engine compartment, and then you still need a funnel. I managed to drop a funnel into the engine and had to remove the undershield to get it out - so be careful. Brakes are now really fanastic - after bedding in (about 5 miles).
  16. A bit more info please, or do I have to get under the car?
  17. Can anyone tell me the model number for the Starter Motor on a mk1 1.9tdi? Save me getting under the car again and removing the undershield. Also, if anyone knows of an auto-electrician that can refurbish them in the Cambs area, would appreciate it
  18. Was under the car on saturday (fixing stabilzer bar) and thought I would have a look at the starting motor, since it will need fixing/replacing one day (bendix squeels). Strangley, I couldn't locate it - I've changed them on other cars, but this one must look different. Anyone give me a clue where it is, lying under the car legs out the front??
  19. Had this little item go for the 3rd time in 5 years. On previous occassions have got it done at a garage. Cost about
  20. I think National Tyres and ATS are having you on. Have a look at this site http://ssl.delti.com/mytires/start.html Put in you car make and model and see the choices available. I've just replaced all the tyres on my Gal and as said before they need to be reinforced that's all. One other piece of advice - ask the local Seat dealer.
  21. That's strange, I posted some stuff on this and saw some other posts but I can't find them anymore. Try a few other search strings or contact the administrator Wierd
  22. If it's the front blowers that have gone, ie none of the fan setting work, it could be the resistor pack. Search for front blowers and resistor pack on this forum.
  23. Anyone know if a blower motor for a MkI is the same as for a MkII ?
  24. Not sure if it's the same on your model. Mine's a 96 1.9tdi glx. But I got to the resistor pack by removing the lower glove box. Drop it open then pull upwards. The resistor pack is to the right of the blower fan assembly. I think you need a torx screwdrivers to remove. I replaced mine, but I also found that some of the connectors were burnt out.
