Looks as if you're right BK, the government has refused to guarantee new deposits, thereby guaranteeing the end of NR. I am losing patience with NR and getting nervous, they are 3 days late with my part withdrawal and their "guess" is it may be the end of next week before I get it. In the meantime, they have already pulled down 3 billion pounds of the BOE loan. Rumours are rife, and the FSA are investigating as a matter of urgency, that hedge funds and others in the city are pumping the market. There is a massive rise in insider dealing and lots of selling "short" on NR using loaned shares that no-one actually has. In other words they are milking the disaster for a quick buck and using highly illegal practices. The fear is after NR they will deliberately start a run on another bank for exactly the same reason - to make a killing by selling "short" (betting on shares to fall in price) It looks as if its going to get very messy and we poor persons-in-the-street are going to get raped financially. Some more info about the bad guys

1998 V6 Radiator Part Number
seatkid replied to dipsomaniac's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Would have thought there was an o ring on the switch/radiator or a rubber washer. IMO spring clips are usually very good and v difficult to damage. Could the leak from the switch be dribbling on the hose? -
Heated Rear Window Not Working
seatkid replied to jimmyd's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
IIRC You can get "conductive paint" pens (try Maplins) but only really possible if the breaks are small. -
If you'd have negotiated them at the start you'd have got them at 50% off. I personally object paying

The recall clearly states if your VIN is affected, the DMF must be replaced. If it wasnt then that explains the failure of the gearbox. VOSA:- Contact Ford Customer Support and get ranting. The recalls on VOSA are legally binding and must be carried out if the vehicle is presented. The garage were grossly negligent and you suffered consequential losses as a direct result. Write a letter to that effect to the top bod (MD) at the dealer in question and demand a full repair and compensation and an equivalent courtesy car FOC for the duration of the repair. Insist on a full Ford inspection, new gearbox, clutch and, of course, DMF. The inspection to check further damage has not been done (engine/transmission)

The smell is common if you've used inferior windscreen wash in the past. Bacteria. Search the forum and you will see lots of threads. Seems the way to get rid is to use Milton sterilising fuid or similar. For fan type washer jets you should use special non floculating washer fluid, such as the original VW stuff, which also has a nice fresh lemony smell even when diluted lots.

Why Put Balance Weights On The Outside?
seatkid replied to g4hlf's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
MO4, This photo shows a clip-on balance weight, balances the wheel to stop it vibrating or "wobbling" at speed. Can be bigger, depending how far "out of true" the wheel/tyre is. A computerised balancing machine at the tyre depot, works out how much weight is required and where to put it. -
All Electro hydraulic and even conventional power steering systems whine a bit. Most people dont notice it or seperate it from "engine noise".

Why Put Balance Weights On The Outside?
seatkid replied to g4hlf's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
Maybe they were clipped on the inside rim or stuck on the inner surface. or..... Must have had "perfect" wheels and "perfect" tyres - very rare. Most cars (95%+) have balance weights on their wheels somewhere NB most ultra low profile tyres/wheels will have stick on weights rather than clip on - for obvious reasons I think.... -
You got it !! As that old program used to say, " say what you see" Oh....in that case it's "This is What She's Like" - not a top ten hit though :16: I prefer "Tie me Kangaroo down, Sport" :16:
-
Is it "Two Little Boys"? :16:

Why Put Balance Weights On The Outside?
seatkid replied to g4hlf's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
A precisely balanced tyre will often have weights on both the inside rim and outside rim - they may be different weights and positioned differently. A tyre should be balanced on 2 axes. You may also be referring to the fact weights can be clipped on the rim (as on steel tyres) or glued to the inner surface (as on some alloys) - in which case its just manufacturers preference. -
Mk1 Deisel Troubles !
seatkid replied to jimbobb's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You should perform a diagnostic, (maybe invest in VAGCOM), to check for error codes. Check the fuel pump timing. (Don't ask me how - look it up on the TIS) It might also be the crank position sensor (faulty or not connected) -
At 1% minimum, 2% typical commission and a healthy turnover on houses being renovated a la BBC philosophy (Buy it - Bodge it - Cash it in), its not surprising that estate agents do well. Remember some agents are also lenders (e.g. Halifax). Even the rules on taxation are slack. For instance,"couples" can buy his and hers - they live in "his" and do up "hers" to sell on etc. This way they avoid capital gains tax altogether. :43: IMO The whole tax system is skewed to favour the "entrepeneur" (get rich quick merchants) at the expense of Mr and Mrs Justwantsahome. Its about time someone in government looked at housing seriously and radically - problem is they're all too busy feeding in a money trough somewhere. Take a look at the last guy responsible for housing review, Johnny 2 Jags Prescot :43: And builders :) - why are new build developments always "high specification luxury homes" and never "reasonably priced and cheap to run homes"?

IIRC, the photos are already on the forum somewhere.......

The recirculation control on manual a/c is vacuum operated. The vacuum pipe has come off the control or the nearby recirc flap.

other ideas? something loose..., trim, intercooler pipes, engine cover, filter box, roll restrictor.....start grabbing bits around and try rocking the engine while running (not you...the engine  ) Could be the dreaded DMF! .

Well, well, well....the panic is over....and just as quickly as it started, everything is now hunkydory! Savers in NR need not worry :) - indeed, people are putting money back in  and the share price is struggling up! a bit As if by magic!! :angry2: The power of the taxpayers pound...... Furthermore, everyone can relax, chill out, the party is set to continue into the wee small hours of 2007, thanks to the arrival of our american friend Mr Bernanke, who by ssssslashing the cost of borrowing, means we can all extend our credit limit even further!!! Fantastic news for all of us who thought they had used up their limit.... ^_^ Sureley, only a cynic, (like that old wbanker SK ;) ) , who, despite previously thinking this was an american problem and that banks like NR were basically sound and solvent with "good" mortgage books, would only now dare to realise that a 5x mortgage deal, or a 2 year introductory loooow rate deal are.....in fact........classic sub-prime!!! Good old honest to goodness UK sub-prime!! So, with the Global American sub-prime crisis moving up a gear into the carloans sector (at least in the good ol' USA).....lets forget about all our problems  and roll up roll up roll up, free money on demand available right now!......no need to prove you can afford it!!! INVEST WHILE STILL HAVE MONEYYYYYYYYYY......... HURRY!!! SALE MUST END SOON! Warning (in very small print): investments are not guaranteed and can go up as well as down. Past performance is not an indication of future trends.... Although, heck, we all know stocks always grow long term so future growth is ....well....certain!!!.... Lets party like it's 1999!

Well, I might as well fan a few flames to get you all panicking...... :angry2: Allegedly, The FSA is currently investigating a number of Banks as matter of urgency..... More here The Daily Mail - a highly reliable paper.......for starting a fire with......

This statement sounds suspiciously like a BTL landlord trying to tell himself that he's actually helping to keep prices down and performing a vital social service! :angry2: And in the next line he blames the "crisis" on new??? people requiring homes..... No!! It is crystal clear why house prices have rocketed. Rich (usually middle aged+) people have perceived houses as an investment that gives phenomenal return. A goose that lays golden eggs. This in turn encourages those cash rich people to plough into the market and do what the BBC etc have been encouraging them to do for the last few years in their "be a speculator" genre. Don't tell me it's the Poles etc who have driven up prices!......anyone who is on the minimum wage cannot afford to even think about buying a house. But yes, they are easy prey for the BTL brigade who just snatch all the bottom end (affordable) housing so they can squeeze 6 or more desperate immigrants in and make a killing, usually in cash, because many immigrants don't have or know about how to get a bank account. Cash is fantastic for the landlord, because he can "lose" some or all of it before it gets into an account that the tax man can see. And once they're into BTL, they're hooked. Re-invest the cash in more property. Greed pervades. Some BTL landlords now have portfolios of many hundreds of houses. IIRC A recent case locally of an old age pensioner being thrown on the street by his 30 something yr old landlord and his girlfriend - to make way for a 4 flat conversion - revealed the landlord tax returns claimed a modest income (~
