I thought you meant a picture of an actual number (5,6,7 etc) not that number of things in a picture. Did I read it wrong or are you 3 just winding El Dingo up? :D Neil.

Oil Overfill- Advice On Removing Please.
neiluk replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
When I collected the car it was half on a pavement on a bit of a hill so the oil level wouldn't have been accurate on the dip stick. I've had no reason do doubt their honsety in the past though. I am reasured that the 1cm over won't do much harm and look forward to driving my Gal more 'normally' as it's had the wrong tyres and worrying oil levels since I bought it and i've been driving it accordingly gently. I hate to think what the MPG will be like if I put my foot down! :D I was hoping that my car would have used some oil in the last month but it seems to have used none so far. Is it right that my breather cap just rests on the rubber ring or should it seal down in some way? I'm a bit concerned that I will get oil leakage from the loose fit. I didn't notice how this cap was resting before the garrage opened it up. That's a good point. I wonder if all dip sticks are exactly the same length? Thanks, Neil. -
Hello all, After my oil change about a month ago, I noticed that my oil was over the Max mark by just over 1cm. After trying to suck some oil out using fish tubing (and nearly colapsing my lungs in the process!), I booked my Gal in and asked for about 300-400ml to be removed as I estimated this would be approx the right amount to get it just under the Max mark. All seemed well, but the following day I checked the dip stick in the usual position (my level drive) and the oil level seems to be exactly the same -_- . I thought they would use one of the pumps I have read about down the dip stick hole but I think they tried to use the hole that has a black cap that is connected to a soft tube as there is now oil around this area where there was none before.- See pic below. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/Neilwuk/oil2.jpg The foot of the cap just seems to be resting in the hole on a rubber ring and part of this ring is not sitting flush against the metal. Should this cap just be able to be lifted off as it doesn't seem very secure and leak proof? What is this cap and soft tube for? http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/Neilwuk/oil1.jpg What is the best hole for me to suck some more oil out of if I can find a better bore tube? I though it was the Dip Stick hole but if the garage used this other hole maybe I should too. How much volume would a 1cm overfill be? i.e. how much should I be expecting to suck out? Sorry for all the questions but any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks, Neil.

YTou were probably used to more clearence with your old Galaxy. Were you going fast or slow through the puddle. I've always guessed very slow would be best but I suppose this means more time for the engine to get flooded. Does anyone know what technique is best? Neil.

I've just had a look on the label of my 2.3 1999 ghia and it stated :- 1 evaporator = 950g + 50g 2 evaporators = 1350g + 50g Hope this helps. Neil.

How Many Fords Have You Guys And Gals Owned
neiluk replied to baz69's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
My current Galaxy is my first 'Ford' but when I were a lad my Father had a Mk1 Cortina saloon (I remember lying face down on the back seat of the car with my arms over my ears when my father used to get it close to 65MPH, as the engine was making so much noise I thought it was going to explode!), then later a Mk5 Cortina 1.6GL saloon with a Hilman Avenger 1.2 saloon in between. I'm afraid the cars I have owned have been more Vauxhall orientated up to now with a Mk1 Astra 1.6 L hatch for about 1 month in 1987 after passing my test. Mk2 Cavalier 1.6 GL saloon from 1987 to 2000 . My fathers old car. Daewoo Nexia 1.5 GLXi saloon from 2000 to 2007. It cost me -
Cruise Scare! Suggestions Please.
neiluk replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks very much all. I Think on your advice I'll lay off the WD40 and put up with the noise for now! I'll see if I can pick up a Ford aux drive belt soon. There must be somewhere in Cardiff that sells them. Would it be OK to see if a new belt does the trick of stopping the squeek(as some people on the Froum have found) or would it be better to do the tentioner at the same time? If I can do without spending the extra I would prefer it. Thanks, Neil. -
Cruise Scare! Suggestions Please.
neiluk replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Strange . My car has done about 280 miles of mixed driving in thelast 2 days and the brakes have behaved impecably. I haven't touched the CC yet. :-/ I've just thought, could it have something to do with my squeeky aux drive belt. I've been liberally spraying it with WD40 which stops the squeeking for a while, but when I did so today I also briefly sprayed a black wheel with metal bands on it behind the drivers wheel. When I did so the wheel stopped dead but the band belt was still travelling over it. I don't suppose this wheel has anything to do with the servo assist on the brakes? It felt like I might have lost servo assist for a few seconds. Thanks, Neil. -
I had a chance yesterday of trying the CC resume switch again and the way of increasing speed without using the accelerator, so when cruising I pressed the 'set' button on the end (I thought this was the right way) and this increased my cruising speed by about 3 to 4 mph every time. I tried to resume after braking but the car continued to slow so it's still not working. Later in the day I was taking the family to mid Wales and thought the brake peddle was needing to be pressed harder to disengage the cruise control. Five minutes or so later I had quite a shock when trying to break from cruising again I found the brake peddle MUCH firmer than usual (almost didn't move at-all initially) and needed 2 very firm presses (which hardly slowed me at all) to disengage the cruise. By this time I was rather closer to the car in front than I felt confortable! I haven't tried it since. Has anyone had similar experiences or know what might be the problem? Should I risk trying it out again on a quiet road? I assume it would still disengage if I pressed the clutch or flicked the cruise switch off. Thanks, Neil.

I had a chance yesterday of trying this but I forgot exactly what you said, so when cruising I pressed the 'set' button on the end and this increased my cruising speed by about 3 to 4 mph every time. Great I though, untill I tried to resume after braking and the car continued to slow. Brake Disk Ware. Even Or Uneven?
neiluk replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks Drewkaren, that's good to know. Neil. -
My cruise control works fine except that I've never got it to Resume. I suppose you don't miss what you've never had, but it does sound like a useful feature. Neil.

Hello all, My Galaxy is the first car I have ever owned with disk brakes on the front and rear. After about 6 weeks of driving I've noticed that the front wheels have about twice as thick a layer of brake dust on them compared to the back wheels. Should the brake balance be evenly split or should the front brakes still be doing most of the work even though the back brakes are the same? Should I expect to change the front discs/pads more often than the rears. Thanks, Neil.

Mumof4 special works fine! It's just a little pink and hearty for my tast (and I'm getting a few strange looks in work!!!) ;) Neil.

I was wondering. On my computer I have lots of 'brackets' and 'ipd.lang's such as :- fun in a mazda {ipb.lang['champion_of']} Balloon Bomber {ipb.lang['with_score']} 303,200 and neiluk {ipb.lang['is_champ']} NikpV mumof4 {ipb.lang['lastupdate']} May 23 2007, 04:36:48 Is this normal? Also, on the 'Arcade' page I seem to be 'Champ' ahead of nikpV and Mumof4 when I have fewer trophies (for now ;-). Why is this? Thanks, Neil.

I'm Car Hunting......any Suggestions?
neiluk replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Mumof4, If we all chipped in a fiver or so I'm sure we could get you enough money for a Mk1 Galaxy. You try to do enough for charities Mumof4. At the moment you youself seem to be a worthy and needy cause. If you told us your address or Paypal account E-mail I'm sure you would find the money would flood in. I would gladly send you -

You don't need a seven seater now then? I was thinking that was what you were after. Are there any makes or models you hate that we could rule out? Could you give us your postcode (or one close to you) so I can use your address as the center of my serches. Thanks, Neil. -
If anybody's interested I got 703mph on Spank the Donkey before I realised that it didn't record scores ;) . Neil

Very sorry to hear about all your troubles Mumof4 :-( . I will keep an eye out for you. Where in the East Midlands do you live? I've never been in a Mk2, but I find my Mk1 great and they are available for sensible prices now. Roughly how much were you thinking? Would you want a Private or the reasurance of a garrage warantee? Happy hunting, Neil. -
Hi Malcolm, Sorry about the lack of clarity in my earlier message . My tyres are 215/55/16's. I wondered what I'd put on my Gal when I came to the roundabout on the way home. It understeared badly on the way into and out of it ;) . I left the car cool down for a few hours then checked the tyre pressures. To my great relief they were 26 PSI all round!!! After MUCH pumping I eventually got the tyres to 42 on the front and 40 on the back, but my pump was close to overheating at this point so I'd better check the pressures again tomorrow incase I was blowing hot air into them therfore affecting the final pressures. I'm gald to say that at close to normal pressures they seem to handle nicely. I'm still waiting for some propper rain to see if they were worth the extra money. All the best, Neil.

I just found the Arcade section yesterday and I was greatly looking forward to the challenge of getting int the top 3 of as many games as I can. I set myself a target of being in the top 3 of 10 games by my birthday. If you reset everyones hard work there will be no ultimate records to aim for :D . If the games arn't changing then please don't reset the scores. If I'm out voted on this is there anyway that a copy of all the current statistics of each game and person can be archived somewhere on the Forum so that people have an ultimate target to aim for. It shouldn't take up too much memory. Sorry to hear your going through a bad patch Mumof4. I hope everything soon gets back to normal for you  . Thanks for your consideration, Neil.

Thank you very much Buford for the Which Tyres review. It was very helpful for finally making up my mind what tyres to go with. I was oringinally going to buy 4 Nankang NS-2's before I saw your test report as I had read good reviews on them and I have 2 on my car at the moment, but I have now decided to buy Hankook Ventus Prime K105 97 reinforced as I have read manygreat reviews on them, they seem to outgrip even the Mitchelin's in the wet and I can get them for
