  1. Thanks, I`ll have a look under neath now.
  2. Just come back from a weekend away in the caravan. On the way there (45 miles) the wife complained about getting a head ache (nowt new there) but on the way home we all suffered from head aches. While I was putting the rear seats back in, the air vents from the rear heater had black sooty stuff on the carpet. I know the marks wernt there before cos I took all the seats out and hoovered inside before we went. I am now really really really worried that fumes from the engine are getting back into the cab. Has anyone any thoughts on this please?
  3. If I were you I`d get the oil changed ASAP not just topped up. See how much a service would be from ya local garage. It shouldnt need an extra oil cooler fitted for towing.
  4. TBH no. Although I need 4 new tyres ;) so I`ll replace them with reinforced ones as recomended. I`ve had a few quotes and cheapest so far are about
  5. Our 1999 mk 1`s tyres are 195/65 R 15 T and the run at 38 psi front, and 35 psi rear 205 / 60 R 15 H are 40 psi front and 37 rear 215 / 60 R 15 H are 34 front and 31 rear
  6. I fitted a charging socket to my Galaxy for the tow bar last week, which needed 2 12 volt supplys going to the engine bay. If you carefully pull the carpet down just under the glove box in the passenger side, you`ll see a rubber grommet. This comes out inside the engine bay below and a little to the left of the engine coolant reservoir.
  7. mmm, maybe the trainie was working on it :o I reckon mine is the aircon as well cos all other fluid levels are fine. I`ll give the dealer a ring today and book it in. (he`ll be pleased with the extra warrenty work ;) :o )
  8. I havent seen many white mk1`s about, but there are loads of white mk2`s round our way.
  9. I checked the p/steering fluid and all was well  . I`ll have another check round it tonight before I go to work. All the fords we have had before, have all had some kind of leak
  10. Heres our little outfit.
  11. Aha! Our aircon hasnt worked since we had the car (still waiting for the dealer to re-charge and service it). That may explain why it isnt working then
  12. Hi all. I have a strange leak on the Gal that I cant trace. The leak appears to be coming from the front drivers side, somewhere behind the tow hook area. I`ve checked engine, power steering, brake (took ages that, had to take the bloody air box off!) and water fluids which are all ok. The fluid is clear, with an oily feel to it. Any thoughts to what it could be? Its appears to be dripping off the oil cooler pipe, so maybe that? although I thought the oil cooler, cooled the engine oil (which is the usual diesel black colour  ) and the dripping fluid is clear. Anyhoooooo, has anyone got any ideas please?
  13. The larger sites are`nt to bad. I`ve found caravan club CL`s and and small private sites to be the worst to get into. Still, its tests ya driving skills :) and touch wood, I havent scraped the van yet :)
  14. Tail gate seems the easy and cheap solution. unless you wanna get custom pods made and fitted but then there is still the question on where to put them so they dont get bashed by ya passengers.
  15. hello! I`m new on here, and a caravanner as well (NOT an old fart :) ). The guys n` gals on here are really helpful.
  16. Gutted! By brother in law had the same sort of thing last year but his mirror smashed back through his window as well.
  17. Cheers for that. drivers side front and rear were faulty, so I put the rear passenger door switch on the drivers door so my lights warning buzzer works now <_< . Just gotta buy two new switches now to replace the knackered ones.
  18. Afternoon all. I reckon my drivers door switch is dead and wondered how to remove it. there aint no scews, just a round piece of plastic with the switch coming outa the middle. Anyone know how its done with? Its a 1999 mk1 TDi by the way. Cheers in advance
  19. :D simple answer to that, satnav ;)
  20. Is it the air intake pipe work? If it is, and there is a hole I`d replace the pipe or tape it up. I`m on the look out for a new air intake pipe as mine is all warped and not sealing properly
  21. Any noise would be good. I`ve left the lights on twice now! :(
  22. Thanks for info. I`ll have a look at work tonight.
  23. Its on the instrument cluster pcb, have fun  Seriously though, do your door switches and courtesy lights work as they should, as well as the instrument lights ie they come on when ign on and can only be dimmed when side/headlights are on? Yep, all the interior lights work as they should, dash lights come on when I switch the exterior lights on, and they dim fine. I take it it`s not an easy job then? It may get left as it is :)
  24. Another question for ya all. The buzzer to warn me when the lights are left on isnt working. Anyone know where abouts it is? Thanks in advance
  25. Yeah, thanks for the info. I had a search last night and pre 2000 TDi`s are only 1500kg  . There goes me plan for buying a twinny next year!
