  1. Can someone clear up some confusion for me? on whattowcar.com, the max towing weight for the gal mk1 is 2000kg`s yet in my manual it states 1500kg but shows pictures of the ford std detachable tow bar. Can anyone tell me which one is correct please?
  2. I cant seem to find the grey ones on ebay. There are loads of black  Does anyone know where to get the tweeter speaker covers for the rear doors from? My eldest wondered what it was and poked a finger through it! :(
  3. Couldnt find owt about the clock light using the search, so just got in there with me tiny screwdrivers  The bulbs gone on the clock light and suprised to find there is only 1 bulb in the heater controls (which is working, just a bit dim) Couldnt be a**ed mucking about with the speaker covers this time o night so I`ll leave that til 2morow. Managed to get an owners manual for it the other day off ebay, just gotta get a haynes manual as well now. Are the workshop manuals you can buy from ebay on a data disc any good?
  4. A few questions regarding a 1999 Mk1 gal. 1; Is the roof mounted digital clock supposed to be illuminated when the lights are switched on? Mine aint and ya cant see it in the dark :P 2; Some bulbs have blown which light up the heater control knobs, (not climate control) how do I get at them? 3; Is there a way of changing the speaker grills without taking the door cards off? (and yes I am lazy :D )
  5. Never load the caravan to more than its max weight. Always check the nose weight of the caravan (use bathroom scales) When hitched to the car, the caravan should be slightly nose down. Keep heavy items as low and as close to the axle as possible. Only put very light things in over head lockers. NEVER travel with full or part full water containers in the caravan. Make sure the items you pack in the caravan are secure, and cant slide about all over the place.
  6. Yep, dealer is doing it all  . Dealer checked the front wipers and has ordered a new motor, he plugged a fault box thingy in and found the clock spring at fault on the airbag and ordered that as well, rear washers was the feed pipe not connected to the resevoir! He`s also sticking on new wiper blades front and rear cos they are shot. He`s paying for all the work himself so we dont have to claim on the aftermarket warrenty we took out, which is pretty damn good of him. Does anyone know the max tow ball weight? And how do I know if its a PD engine or not?
  7. Always increase you car tyre pressures, and check the caravan tyre pressures before the start of ya journey. If you have an Alko stabilizer fitted to ya van, always clean any rust and muck off the towball or it will knacker ya pads up. Check ALL windows, skylights and doors are shut on the van before setting off.
  8. No the self levelling set up will NOT make up for the nose weight. The nose weight limit is set for the fixings of the tow bar. It wont fall off if you go slightly over the 75kg limit but it will invalidate your insurance should you have an accident. I always used to set our van up (1993 Elddis wisp 510 cd) with 70kg nose weight on our Vectra and it towed lovely. Havent towed with the Galaxy yet, we`ve got that to look forward to next week!
  9. Hi all. We are a family of 4, soon to be 5 so we traded a Vectra Di estate for a 1999 T reg Galaxy TDi 90. Only had it since last Friday (02/03/07) and already its back in for repairs (warrenty jobbie). Its certainly a strange drive after having the vectra! I have to keep reminding myself that I cant sling it into bends or round abouts! Its got a lot more guts to it thoughand fuel econemy is very close to the vectra (185ish miles to
  10. thanks for all the replies. It didnt come with a manual, but I did find the tyre pressures on a sticker near the door :) Its going back to the dealers today, as the airbag warning light came on and stayed on, the rear washer isnt working and coming home from a mates house late last night, the front wipers packed up! that was scary at 60mph in the peeing down of rain
  11. Howdy all. We had our 1999 T reg TDi 90 Galaxy delivered friday and I hope you guys can answer a few questions for me. 1; I`m after a diesel tuning box but I need to know if its a PD engine or not. How do I find that out? 2; Anyone know what the tyre pressures should be? I think its running 195/65 R15 3; Does anyone know the max towball weight? I presume its around the 75 kg mark, but am not 100% sure. (and yes before anyone asks I do intend to tow a caravan, but I`m only 28 and NOT an old fart!) 4; Does anyone know of a supplier of side steps for the galaxy? The kids are having problems climbing in
