Cruise Control Not Working
tdi90 replied to Jayton's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You can view live data of the CC system with vagcom. This will test the brake and clutch switches, and all the controls on the stalk. When I upgraded my Tdi to CC, the first stalk I got was faulty so had to get another. -
Check the wiring to the fuel pump. I had the same sorta syptoms happen to my TDi90 a while back. No power, strange engine noise. Turned out to be chaffed wires to the fuel pump (2 engine changes as probable cause for mine :P)

What colour is the smoke? Blue-ish is oil burning Black is over fueling White is water contamination

Adding A Cruise Control To A Tdi Afn 110bhp? Possible?
tdi90 replied to Ginettamad's topic in Customising your Ford Galaxy
Vagcom can be a bit of git to load onto a Vista machine. You have to run the program for combatility with XP and run as admin Also check that the vagcom cable is in the correct usb port. iirc, vagcom only has 4 test ports, where as some laptops have more, or list them as different numbers so you have to experiment or assign the cable a usb port between 1 - 4 on the laptop. Loading onto XP should be a doddle bar checking the usb port assignment Dont forget that you could also have a faulty stalk unit. The first one I brought, the cc 'on' & 'ressume' buttons didnt work. -
They only way you'll do a straight swop will be a like for like engine. If you swop for sumint else, it'll involve loads of other work. Yours will either be code AHU (90bhp) or AFN (110bhp)

As far as I am aware, Vagcom cannot key match or re code stereos. There are no options in my fully registered vagcom anyhoooo (409.1). It may be something the seller has added? -

All you will need is a new stork unit. Doesnt matter if it came from a petrol or diesel (mine came from a petrol). http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trk...indicator+stalk also do a search for alhambra /sharan stalks. They do come up cheaper, just keep looking (as I said, mine was -

Petrol cruise is totally different to tdi cruise. Petrol is vacum, tdi is electrical. You need to check: For a switch (almost the same as the brake light switch) on the clutch pedal. (get a torch and practice ya yoga  ) Take off the top and bottom steering colum surrounds, and if there is a black connector plugged into a blank socket near to the indicator stalk connector, you can add cruise control. Buy a 2nd hand stalk unit with the cc switches & swop it over for yours (Disconnect the battery first, as you'll be pulling about very close to the airbag) Next, get vagcom or pop along to ya local VW/Ford dealer and ask them to put in the 'login in' code to activate it. I know this works, cos I did my TDi yesterday :D -
Yup, it will. I fitted a mk2 undertray to my mk1

I put a second-hand under tray from a mk2 TDI on my mk1 TDI, and it fits fine. I got a new full fittings kit from fords for

Electrical Fault Causing Wiper Problem?
tdi90 replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If you've got a multi meter, check the voltage of the battery with the engine running. Should be around 14volts. Then switch on wipers, heater blowers, heated windows and stereo and check the voltage again should still be well over 12v. If not could be the alternator's knackered. I had the same sorta thing a few months back. lights, heater, wipers, stereo, heated screens on, on the way back from work, then all of a sudden everything that is supposed to be lit up in the car was flashing like a mo fo. Interior lights, switches, wipers stop starting, stereo coming off and on. -
What Have They Done To My Car?
tdi90 replied to TeamGreen's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Does sound like the timing is out. Had the same thing happen to me, twice! First time when I had a recon engine fitted, then when I had a new fuel pump fitted. -
Autoglym 'caravan cleaner', roughly
-
Sorry to hear it didnt work for you mate. Can you point out the part you mean on the diagram I posted?
-
Dyno'd. It'll not tell you how long your engine will last though, only the horsepower and torque figures. Prob cost a fair few quid to have it tested as well.
-
MK2 engine undersheilds fit the MK1 as well (its what I've got on mine) and yes the proper ones have sound insulation. Beware the new pattern part undertrays for sale on ebay as they dont have the sound insulation. Be prepaired to hunt around for a 2nd hand one though, it took me 3 months to find one, then I had to travel 100 mile round trip to pick it up. If you havent got one already, the plastic engine top cover is insulated as well.

Those part numbers for the N75 are for the non PD engine. The one for the PD is different (or so the fella @ ford said when I ordered one for my 99 TDi)
-
Took my caravan out for a test tow today and all was A1. The pipe work and N75 change cured the fault. :angry2:
-
Drivers (like me) who passed their test after 1997, can tow at a max combined weight of 3500kg as long as the kerbweight of the car does not excede the weight of the trailer/caravan. Stevie, you sure the volvo is 2030kg kerb weight? A galaxy is around 1600kg kerb weight and its bigger than the volvo.
